Looks like legendary director Hideo Kojima is about to rip up the rule book yet again, as Norman Reedus has been eulogising Death Stranding on a recent B&H Photography podcast. As reported by Metal Gear Informer, the actor described the PlayStation 4 exclusive as “mind blowing”, and hinted that the project is “ahead of its time”.
“The concept is so mind-blowing, because it’s not like, you know, ‘Kill everybody and win the game,’ it’s a connecting thing,” he said. “It’s like the opposite. And, y'know, it’s so ahead of its time. And there’s elements of social media in it, and the idea is that, y'know, you have so many games... And so many parts of millennial culture, I guess, is being alone in a room. And you lose physical contact with people. This is after that and the re-establishing of that physical contact.”
It’s a cryptic comment from Reedus that doesn’t really give us a whole lot more to go on, but we do already know that Death Stranding will have an online element. Late last year at PlayStation Experience, Kojima also revealed that death will play a big part in the game, as you’re whisked away to an underwater purgatory each time that you eat the dust.

Keep the details coming. I'm eating it all up. Let the hype train roll.
Star Actor says project he is working on is really good and you should pay for it... news at 11....
Norman Reedus loves roadkill, literally, as art.
Aaaaahhh, it all makes sense now. 🤨
In the future babies are made without physical contact and they develop in portable mechanical wombs that we haul around until they’re born. Except when they are living in our throats. And invisible demons hunting people down are .... uh, wait — Actually, I’m more confused than before.
Norman Reedus is a cool dude, I believe in him
Well, mind blown! 😉
Seriously though im looking forward to this, I hope it turns out good.
I can only hope the game is so ahead of it's time, we'll see it on PS4.
Can't wait for this game, I hope there's big preview (like god of war ps4) on e3 2018
Norman always says stuff like "This season of The Walking Dead is gona be insane" and its always rubbish so.....
I just hope, y'know, Norman isn't, y'know, working on the script. Cos, y'know, I doubt the social media connected millennial is, y'know, ready for it.
a person who's part of a project says that the project is great. big surprise.
It's weird how people who are involved in games that aren't out yet never release statements saying stuff like, "Honestly, it's rubbish. I'm only turning up for the money."
@JoeBlogs Of course, but this is a bit of a non-quote, isn't it?. No matter how good or bad the game is, he's never going to say it isn't good.
"And so many parts of millennial culture, I guess, is being alone in a room. And you lose physical contact with people."
So play this game...alone in a room...while losing physical contact with people
Reedus likes to say everything is mind-blowing, he's one of those dudes who uses the word "epic" so much it loses meaning. At least we gleaned a bit of info about the games' setting.
My boi, Norman Reedus, man. He's just so erudite. I just about cried when I read that quote. Just absolutely mind blowing on so many levels, man. Hopefully he brings this kind of articulate emotional intensity to his performance as Sam.
Seriously I wouldn't care. It's a Hideo Kojima game.
I will only play this is Norman Reedus has a crossbow and shoots zombies or remnants of humanity that are driven by their base nature.
@JoeBlogs he’s an actor - it is literally his job to be convincing while saying stuff he may not feel/believe.
@JoeBlogs please don’t dismiss it as cynicism - it is literally in their contract most of the time that they must speak positively about it and must do press. This is also their job, and their careers being influenced heavily by how well they do this part of their job.
Fake news, what he actually said was,
"I hate this game, I now have an irrational fear of upside down whales, y'know? Also, people keep trying to look down my throat, not cool man."
