If the Dragon Ball FighterZ beta isn't enough to keep you occupied this weekend, then you may want to check out the other test run that's happening. Also available to download now from the PlayStation Store, the Dissidia Final Fantasy NT open beta comes in at around a rather hefty 18GB, but the best part is that you don't have to wait long for it to start -- the whole thing's set to kick off later today. That said, we don't have a specific start time just yet, but we'll update this story when it's live.
Square Enix seems really keen for people to get stuck into this one, because the beta lasts for over a week. It ends on the 21st January, not too far off from the finished game's release date on the 30th January.
As for the character roster, it appears as though there's no predetermined cast to try out. The beta's page on the PlayStation Store says "during the open beta, the character roster will vary at regular intervals". We suppose you'll have to keep coming back to see who's playable and who isn't.

- From 15th January (22:00 GMT/14:00 PST) to 18th January (21:00 GMT/13:00 PST)

Definitely interested in playing it since the game kinda reminds me of Gundam Versus, which I really like.
Downloading this now but the DBF beta isn't up on NA's PSN store, yet.
Updated the article with times from Square Enix.
Downloading!
Dont care about DB so Dissidia for me. Kudos to SE for doing a long beta and also for adding variety and a surprise element to keep people checking it and playing.
You would have to seriously nerf Sephiroth for most of the opposition to stand a chance, his powers are insane. Particularly evident in Crisis Core and Advent Children.
I want to try Noct!
Played the first beta and now playing the second, still finding it cluttered and fiddley(?) And can imagine how some people playing the beta will find it confusing
Thanks for the share! I plan to play with some friends on Sunday .
This beta sucks so hard. It's a really clunky fighting game with an annoying mascot that refuses to stop backseat gaming. The UI is laggy and unresponsive a lot of the time, and the wait times to find games are astronomical. It needs a lot of work on the technical side, but it could be pretty damn good.
Honestly not too impressed with this game. I realize it's a beta, but I'd just stick with the PSP games at this point. This was a pretty pathetic showing IMO. Cluttered, clunky, bland as ****, music blows, gameplay boils down to mashing a button and watching a long combo, the moogle is annoying, the stages barely have any interactivity from what I've played so far...
I mean good lord this is a disaster. Even Ramza being in the game isn't enough to save it for me. Kinda curious what others think about this game.
