The ability to upload screenshots to an accessible cloud folder would be pretty sweet
Testing stability has never felt so great!
Speaking of screenshots, the delay from hitting the share button to being able to save the image is ridiculous on some games. Especially Multiplayer where you can't pause.
As mentioned before, psn store wishlists.
@Johnnycide Definitely this. Ive never noticed it as a problem until the past month or so; but now its a real pain.
Not sure if point 1 on the following blog post could help?
https://blog.eu.playstation.com/2018/01/02/15-things-you-probably-didnt-know-you-could-do-in-your-ps4-settings-menus/
@Johnnycide just hold the share button for a few seconds and it will automatically take a screen shot without needing to bring up the share menu
it's like double tapping it to automatically start recording video
you never actually have to use the share menu if you don't want to
@FullbringIchigo does that take an image of when you first hold the button down or when you let it go though?
@Johnnycide from my experience from when you first press the button
The ability to print money!
Can't think anything I need, might find some of the features cool, will soon see.
I just want my old download tab back, with separate tab for download and upload.
@Johnnycide Also this, share button on ps4 is slow.
@Shepherd_Tallon Another good idea, also I want the ability to pin our favorite games to the front.
@Elodin And psn automatically sending email when our wishlist item is on sale, like steam.
Share button needs looking at as it's really slow at the moment.
It would be nice if the OS ran more smoothly.
The ability to copy to a USB device without having to look at the screen for 25 minutes would be good.
@Johnnycide I have the easy screenshot mode turned on so it's a quick press for me. But yeah to quickly save a video you hold it down for two seconds and press square, which in theory should take less than five seconds, but half the time it can take five times as long. Laggy, laggy, shoddy UI. Laggy UI seems to be among the top complaints so hopefully it'll finally get sorted!
After the massive disappointment that was 5.00, I'm not holding my breath.
the ability to delete trophies you've earned would be good
Updated, registration is now live in NA and EU.
@Johnnycide @Kidfried you can by changing the settings, there are 3 different options for how the share button is used
seriously do people NOT read any of the instruction stuff that comes with consoles or look around in the settings when they first set up the system? because your asking for things that are already there
@FullbringIchigo dreadfully sorry. I'll be sure to bone up on everything in future. Sorry I've ruined your day.
More personal stats and (Time Played) stats for each game. Just got my 2017 year in review e-mail that is super nice stuff!! Really wish something like that was accessible on the PS4 itself.
@Johnnycide nah you didn't ruin my day, it was already ruined when i found out my brother and his kids were coming round, bunch of lazy noisy idi.....people who have no respect for anyone else or their feelings
i like my peace and quiet
but you really should read all the paper work that comes with a system, it's better in the long run
@FullbringIchigo ah. Now I know that pain all too well.
Id love to be able to put folders into folders and/or hide folders so i can clean up and actually see the themes i pay money for.
Also a brightness option for the theme or screenshot like on ps3
delete libary demos and games i no longer play in libary
The abillty to sort your trophy List
I just want the main menu to be faster...
Backwards compatibility.
Signed up for NA beta. Hopefully we get some of the features you guys wrote about earlier!
Crash team racing
@Strebor_ That would be nice. Or at least speed up the USB copy to proper USB3 speed... no need for it to take that long. 20+ minutes to copy to the USB, and a few seconds to copy the same file from the USB to my laptop. Ludicrous.
@Kidfried Just get yourself a YouTube/Facebook/DailyMotion account. When you upload a video to those, it appears in your timeline for your friends to see. You won't get anything 'direct' from Sony, due to the cost of hosting all those videos and the bandwidth required to stream them.
@EVIL-C PS3 backwards compatibility is never happening on PS4. It's just not feasible.
@Paranoimia
If Microsoft can do it, after saying the exact same thing, Sony can too. Don't buy into executive PR. Of course it's feasible.
Deleting games from my library like demos would be nice. I'd also love to be able to delete trophies from games I've tried but didn't like, but I won't hold my breath on that one.
@EVIL-C It's not a case of buying into "PR , it's a case of knowing how things work.
@Paranoimia Mind the language please.
@EVIL-C PS4 use a different archetype then the PS3 while the Xbox One and 360 are similar. Hence backwards compatibility is impossible and that's not PR talk, anyone who knows computers knows that.
@Tasuki That still doesn't explain lack of PS1 or 2. The only recent executive comment was Jim Ryan brushing the idea off.
It's not impossible, they just see it as not worth investing in, because they'd rather you rebuy/stream everything.
@EVIL-C Again different chipsets. You and others need to give the backwards compatibility a rest or at least understand why it cant happened before shooting your mouth off with baseless theories. If you want to play PS, PS2 and PS3 games so bad then buy a PS2 and PS3, not a PS4.
@Tasuki
I'm going to explain to you how so-called BWC works on Xbone. When you have a disc of a game, Halo 3 for example, all that happens is the system downloads a digital copy to your hard drive. The Xbone doesn't play the disc. If you want to play the game again, you need to insert the disc again. It's merely an unlock key. And now original XB games are being added.
PS4 has dozens of PS2 classic you can buy and download right now, but.... Oh! I gotta rebuy them all, even if I already have the disc... Why can't I just insert a PS2 disc for Jak 1, have the PS4 read it, and let me download a digital copy? I've proved I own it. Exactly as I do with XB. It's BS, and a clear area where Sony is lacking. You cannot honestly sit there and defend them for that.
That's what we want, or would at least compromise with. If it can be done for PS2, then absolutely PS1 can be done. (And theoretically, reprogrammed software could work on different hardware, but they chose to invest in PS Now instead for PS3)
This pseudo-BWC is difficult of course, but not impossible. I wouldn't use that word so lightly, especially in the computing world. There's just no will and no financial incentives for Sony to do it now.
@EVIL-C It's not as simple as popping in a disc because again different chipsets.
@Tasuki
... "Different chipsets" is also your entire argument as to why it simply won't take me to the PS Store to download an already available PS2 HD classic if I insert the original disc? Have you even witnessed the process on Xbox? Wow man...
@EVIL-C And your entire argument is Xbox does it which is irrelevant, we are taking about PS here not Xbox. So because the Switch can become portable I suppose you think the PS4 should.
@Tasuki
Let's stay on track here; An apple is an apple. We're talking about what features would you readers like to see. I want BWC. Thus I compared a contemporary example of how it could be done with a PS4 competitor. Nothing wrong with that, and perfectly valid, as they are devices that do the same thing essentially. You were happy to start this argument with me, yet give zero technical specifications to back it up, just simply stating "different chipsets". I could find the same regurgitated talk on any form. Wooooooow! I tremble in fear of your technical prowess! 🙄😋
I simply stated both match and exceed your competitors.
@EVIL-C You are just not getting it. Just because the Xbox One and PS4 are similar it doesn't mean the PS3 and PS4 are similar like the 360 and One.
Now whether you want to believe it or not that's your bad and you are just being foolish. But you can look up any forum any article and you will see that the chip architype for the PS3 was very different then the 360 which was why games ran differently and why alot devs only developed games for the 360. Because of that is why back compatibility can not and will not work on the PS4. I am sure someone like @get2sammyb can explain it better but I am done now. If you are so keen on backwards compatibility I suggest that perhaps you buy an Xbox One.
I would say that it would have been a good thing if Sony had designed the PS4 so that it could have had backward compatibility, but for obvious cynical monetary reasons, they didn't. On reflection, maybe next time I will buy and Xbox
@EVIL-C Yeah, it's almost impossible to do because of the nature of the PS3's hardware. It was a huge mistake by Sony to go with the CELL in the first place and I'm sure they regret it now, but it's just highly unlikely you'll ever get PS3 games on PS4 (or even PS5 TBH).
PSone stuff is definitely possible, though.
@Johnnycide yup lol and sometimes even getting into the ps4 menu had a super long delay also. I hope performance improves one day
What @EVIL-C is trying to explain is 100% possible, it just needs a clearer explanation. Just pretend that the ps3 disc is a just a normal DVD and all the ps4 has to do is read the basic disc image. From that the ps4 can get the title off of the disc and search it through the store or at least give you the name so you can do it yourself, then just download and use the disc like a key to play, in the same sort of way that things like region locking work. ( sorry if my 'clearer' explanation made things more confusing, I got a bit carried away once I started haha).
Plus it would take the guys at Sony barely any time at all to put all of the disc serial numbers from the ps3 games onto the ps4 system so that they can be indexed and the discs can be used as keys to play the digital downloads. But none of this will ever happen as there is no financial gain in it for them lol.
@get2sammyb @Tasuki
@Watto1996 And how is the PS4 going to run the games if the architecture of the console is fundamentally different to the PS3?
You'd have to manually go in and re-write the code for every single game, essentially porting everything to the PS4. It's not feasible.
@get2sammyb the architecture of the console does not matter if the disc is only using it's serial code as an unlock key to play a digital download. And the code has already been changed for an impressive amount of last gen games on PSnow, which is still growing over time. Both me and @EVIL-C aren't saying that it would be complete backwards compatability because as you said it's not feasible, But the way that I'm trying to explain would get us at least halfway there as a compromise haha
@Watto1996 PSNOw is a poor example. PSNow is a streaming service it doesn't have anything to do with the hardware itself. It's just like using the remote play on PS4 to play a game on the Vita or now are you going to tell me that Vita's are capable of playing PS4 games using it's native hardware?
@Tasuki I was using PSnow as an example because the ps3 games it has available have been changed to suit ps4. I didn't mean the streaming part of the service that is crap, of course each full game you play would have to be downloaded to the ps4 (just the same as any other game you own). Everything you are saying is right bro, it's just not the point I'm trying to make haha
@Watto1996 Ok I see what you're saying. Still even if they have to change the code who's going to do that and at what cost? It might not be cost worth, which is why they have to charge again for the PS2 games. Also it would take man power to do that, and I am sure that developers don't want to split their work force between new games coming out and recoding older games that a majority of PS4 owners probably won't want. I mean after all I am sure alot of us have already played them last gen.
@Tasuki Alot of the code has already been rewritten for the games to be played on current gen because of PSnow. It just won't happen because there is no money in it for them and as you said the development times are a factor. I was just explaining a way that it could be done haha, I know it won't ever actually happen lol.
@Watto1996 There is no code needed for PSNow it's a streaming service all the code is written on the servers that the games are on not the PS4 itself. That's how streaming works. You don't need the hardware to use something that is streamed to your device. I can stream PS4 games and play them on my Vita or PC but that doesn't mean my PC or Vita can natively run a PS4 game.
@get2sammyb A little help here you know what I am getting at, why is it so hard for people to understand that backwards compatibility is not going to happen on the PS4.
@Tasuki There is changed code on the games used on PSnow, otherwise the server couldn't handle all of the input and output, while also trying to stream and upscale at the same time, all it takes is a couple lines and values changed in each game for them to work natively on download. But I know it isn't going to happen man, you don't need to keep telling me that haha, it's not financially worth it for Sony
@Elodin wondering if that even needs a new firmware, doesnt the store update every week without a firmware?
@ValhallaOutcast wishing for everything would be nice, but then the wish would grow to need more time.
