The days are getting longer again, which means you may be in need of your curtains to block the light out. The video game release schedule has certainly slowed down since Monster Hunter: World launched, so what’s keeping you busy at the moment? You know the drill.

It's back to the wilderness this weekend as I slay some high rank beasts in Monster Hunter: World. The grind just never seems to end but I'm still having a lot of fun. The Anjanath can do one, though. Stupid thing's a bloody walking hitbox.

In addition to furthering the story in Monster Hunter: World, I'm going to be playing some local multiplayer titles this weekend. I'll be playing some Gang Beasts, TowerFall, Overcooked, and no doubt more besides.

I’m dedicating this weekend to Shadow of the Colossus, and god damn it, this game is so heartbreaking and beautiful. I’ve spent a couple of hours already taking down some colossi (with reluctance I’ll admit) while also trying to master its control scheme. Hopefully my conscience doesn’t get the better of me and I can see it through to the end!

I picked up Assassin’s Creed: Origins on a really good deal last week and I’m loving it so far. It’s not a huge departure from what came before, but there’s enough different here to make it feel fresh – especially the new combat system, which I love. I’ve also gone back to FIFA 17 to finish off the story mode; for some reason I just never got round to it last year, so here’s hoping I can make a dent this weekend and move on to FIFA 18.

I picked up a few new games this week. On the PS4 front I will be playing Secret of Mana with my son. As remakes go this one is really good in capturing the fun of the original. On the Switch I will be starting Bayonetta.
A pretty short WAYP from us this week, then, which means we’re relying on your comments more than ever. What are you playing this weekend? Let us know in the comments section below.

After completing SOTC this week, I will probably start Rime and look to finish The Unfinished Swan on Vita.
Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, Final Fantasy XV, Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy IX
Probably gonna be trying to finish AC Origins, SOTC and Ratchet & Clank before Kratos arrives.
Bayonetta on Switch.
@FullbringIchigo So you're not a big JRPG fan?
Crossing Souls and SOTC on PS4, Xenoblade Chronicles on 3DS!
@FullbringIchigo woah now, save some room for Final Fantasy in your schedule!
@RamboSi not really ^_^
@kyleforrester87 YOUR RIGHT! i still need to make room for Final Fantasy VII and Lightning Returns FFXIII
I finished Shadow of the Colossus, this classic is on my top 5 of the best games ever.
This weekend, I will continue to play Monster Hunter and Rime.
PS4: Crossing Souls
PSVita: Secret of Mana
Switch: Bayonetta
Should finish Crossing Souls today. Also going to put MH World on ice for a little while, as I stop slaying Monsters and turn my attention onto those pesky angels in Bayonetta.
Hopefully I'll also get to start Secret of Mana at some point.
EDIT: Looks like I won’t be playing Bayonetta, because it’s sold out at 3 different stores in my town 😔.
Back to Monster Hunter World.
I am playing the two games I actually like this weekend Hellblade and Knack.
I am going to be a bit controversial here and say for me, subjectively, I prefer Knack to my other recent purchase XCOM 2. I know that XCOM 2 is a decent game but for a newbie it seems uninviting and too intricate. I do not want to spend time on the internet learning how to play a game with how to guides. I didn't have to do that with Persona 5 or Dark Souls. Anyway rant over.
Iconoclasts, this is a really fun game! I'm also downloading Knack, I want to give this game a go too.
@john_c some say Mario & Rabbids is a more accessible ver Of XCOM.
Also interesting choice w Knack.
Thought I’d be playing agents of mayhem which I got for a fiver from Sainsbury’s. but my wife took it from me to give to one of my daughters to return to me for Father’s Day in June. Apparently I’ll need to look both surprised and grateful when I receive it. So I guess onto Wolfenstine my wife got me for valentines day
I'll be playing Dynasty Warriors 9 because I hate myself.
@KratosMD just on my way to Colony 9, approx 8 hours in. I'm struggling to pour time into it since it's a handheld game I only really play it in bed before I sleep. But going to try and get some sofa hours in this weekend. If this bloody cold clears up a bit.
You played much?
Playing sotc and defeating 2 colossus every day (beat the 12th colossus today) while I'm sad to see such majesctic creature fall, the 11th colossus (the bull one) can shove it, between plowing attack that hard to evade, slow waking animation for wander, camera that suddenly hate you more than usual, I don't think there's more annoying fight in this game
Beside sotc I just finished knack 2, I hope sony make another one with better character design, I don't have problem with the gameplay but the human design in this game is little ugly.
Let see, what else. Playing shantae half-genie hero dlc on ps4, the pirate queen quest, and later friend to the end (I backed it on ks so I got the dlc for free).
Last, I'm playing knack 1 since it's free on psplus. After playing it, it seems that...I like it? I mean, it's not a great game, it's a 6.5 - 7.5 game, but I think it's fun, just like the order 1886, I don't understand all the hate it received. The difficulty is out of whack though, on normal difficulty, enemy attack can take more than half of your health, playing it on easy is more fun.

Im back to SFV and play Rashid
Gran Turismo Sport
Game from ps+, Rime.
PSV: I play Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Great game!
That's all
@KratosMD it's pretty good to play handheld in short blasts to be honest, nice and forgiving if you die too. The cut scenes are good and characters are cool (so far).
It's not as awesome as XBC2 though, at least not yet.
The Witcher 3. Again. Geralt is a moody, gruff hunk.
Bayonetta 2 has literally just been delivered so either this or the first Bayonetta (free code in box) will be played on my Switch this weekend
I will also be playing the excellent Radiant Historia for the 3ds which was delivered yesterday plus for the ps4 : Hellblade,Grand Kingdom,Danganronpa 3 and The Beautiful and breathtaking Shadow Of The Colossus...just about to take down number 7..
Been slowing taking down Colossi as well. Executed number 11 last night and that fight was probably my least favorite so far. It got me sufficiently frustrated that I think I’ll take a breather and play something short and story driven — about to boot up The Bunker for the first time.
Borderlands 2 co-op and Danganronpa Trigger Happy Havoc (PS4)
Really liking the latter right now. Wasn’t sure how I’d feel but the good reviews pushed me to try it and it’s definitely interesting.
Really want to play secret of mana but I’m not convinced by the art style/animations so I think I’m gonna play it on the snes classic.
@Neolit Hey me too! I'm playing FFXV. I also will be starting Breath of the Wild later today I think, and I might start Persona 5 as my Sister bought me that all of a sudden (steelbook case too!). Some good to stuff to start playing after not being able to paly games for two years!
I have to work this weekend so I won’t get in much. 😑 I’ll try to make time for Monster Hunter and the usual fighting games I play. Bayonetta on Switch.
Monster Hunter. Those monsters aren't going to hunt themselves.
I just bought Tear Away Unfolded in the flash sale and now that i have finished Rime ill give it a go. Still workibg my way through Dragonball Fighterz story arc too.
@Jaz007
Hey welcome back!
Still playing Celeste and Isaac. Trying to plat the former. Maybe some Splatoon or TEW2.
.hack for me. The main character is a little s*** though.
@kyleforrester87 Don't you mean colony 6?
Aven Colony, what an amazing game this is. It plays so well on the PS4.
Pixel madness on the side with Mother Russia Bleeds, Uncanny Valley and Downwell.
Trying to make a bit of a dent in my backlog, so currently playing Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning on PS3 (only about 3 hours in so far though)
@Grim-Tuesday yep sorry I wrote that post with my phone upside down
@kyleforrester87 Ah, yes. That does happen. 😏
!puY
Bloodborne
I'll try to wrap up Batman Arkham Knight this weekend. I may keep jumping on PS3 for more Guilty Gear as well, though I've also been in the mood for Mortal Kombat.
@ztpayne7 I found it odd that they put Secret of Mana on the SNES Classic instead of Chrono Trigger especially cause there is no way to play 3 players on it. I am wondering if they reason for putting it on there was some sort of contract reason, since the PS4 got a remake and Japan Switch owners got the collection.
Most likely no games for me this weekend. Finals start on Monday and I really should be studying right now instead of typing this. Anyways, I hope everyone enjoys a full weekend of gaming. I plan on binging The Evil Within on Wednesday after my last final and hopefully finishing it before the release of SAO: Fatal Bullet.
I finally started Fallout 4.
Secret of Mana, which I just started yesterday. I have never played it before so it's all new to me. I'm a few hours in and I'm really liking it. Growing up I wasn't that into JRPGs, and Japanese games in general, I was mainly playing sports and action games. Now, it's more or less the opposite. I want to play games that I feel 'come from a place' if that makes sense. I want that cultural mark. So lots of Japanese stuff.
Timothy vs. the Aliens, a recent Indie game. It appeals to me in the same way 'Destroy All Humans!' does, it has a similar 50's inspired sci-fi feel to it. It's more challenging than I expected though, you die very easily.
What else, .... Monster Hunter and GT Sport.
@JJ-Firl Aven Colony was such a surprise for me, it plays so well with a controller. It's always risky buying a city-builder on console, but the developers really thought about how people would play the game with a controller. It really impressed me, which is why I'm always happy to spread the awareness of the game to other PS4 gamers. Plus, it's a good game in itself.
Have you played any other such game on the PS4 ? I've only played this particular game, although I'm also interested in Planetbase, Railway Empire, and the upcoming Surviving Mars game.
I am sadly not going to play anything this week because I have to study for a big exam. But after that, I will start RiME.
I am very late to the party, but I am about to start Hitman on PS4. I am really excited to play it as I watch a lot of Giantbomb and they played the poo of this game.
I will mix in a little Monster Hunter World too I expect, but I must be honest, I am struggling to make progress in that game. I just feel overwhelmed as I have a terrible need to collect everything when playing video games so I am obsessing about trying to methodically complete every side quest, make every armour set and all the rest.
More MHW without a doubt. I also got DB FighterZ on Wed but barely played it because of MHW stealing every spare moment. Need to get on that.
@Bonbonetti Wow great referral bro. I am looking for a city builder to chill out with and have seen this more than once!
PC: Valkyria Chronicles Remastered
3DS: Etrian Odyssey V
Still need to finish up Twilight Princess HD, though, and I'm determined to make more progress in Danganronpa V3.
Still playing the Witcher 3 and have really got into it. Picked up South Park stick of truth. I've never played a South Park game, but from what I've played so far it seems pretty fun. Alot more of a rpg than I was expecting.
@Lovespuds You have been asked several times to watch the language, this is your final warning so please heed it.
@Bonbonetti You’re absolutely right, it looks as if the game was designed to play with a controller. I also love how straightforward and intuitive the gameplay is.
I haven’t played any of the games you mentioned but I bought Tropico 5 a while ago. Haven’t started it yet but the review here says the controls translate pretty well to the PS4. I played Tropico 4 on the PC and liked it a lot! More emphasis on politics, trade, diplomacy...
I love these kind of games, very happy to see them finding their way to home consoles.
Persona 5
Dishonored 2 and Telltale Batman season 1.
On course for my first platinum.
@Splat They don't hunt themselves, but they hunt each other! Still, someone has to strike the final blow.
This game should have been named "Monster Hunter Paradise"!
In work this weekend so a large amount of bugger all is getting played.
Instead I'll be dealing with literally the worst people possible.
@Grim-Tuesday Haha I finished Volume 1 last month. Thought the same thing, but he kind of grows on you. It was kind of refreshing to be playing the game as such a pr###!
@kyleforrester87 Thoughts on Crossing Souls?
I'm playing kingdom come deliverance which I love,knack 2 which is amazing I can't believe I slept on it and the fall part 2 unbound which is amazing.
More of Monster Hunter World getting through the story and a bit of grinding for better armour and weapons for the newer monsters. Also been playing Darksiders: Warmastered Edition and despite it feeling a little outdated in terms of gameplay and graphically (at least for me), its quite fun and I'm enjoying it so far, hoping to finish it if I grind the hours .
I also just started playing Persona 5 last night as my sister just decided to buy it for me while we were at Wal-Mart (got a steelbook case too). It’s really good so far. I’m about an hour in. Excellent introduction to the Persona series.
@Doctor_BK Good luck on your finals, hope it goes well for you.
And I too am looking forward to SAO: Fatal Bullet, I've been seeing good things about it and it looks promising for a Freedom Wars-esque style game.
@Tasuki
Apologies for using the faeces expletive, it won't happen again.
Looking back through my history I am struggling to spot any instances where I have used coarse language so I am not sure that I have been warned 'several times', I am not sure a public shaming was really required either.
Nonetheless, I apologise to the community for any offense caused. Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone.
@SwiftyKazari Thank you! Yeah, I'm hoping there's a lot to grind for. I'm craving a game I can really sink my teeth into.
@Fight_Teza_Fight it very far, just got the gang back together - I like it though. Did you finish it? What did you think?
@Tasuki while I think secret of mana AND Chrono Trigger should have been in it, there simply must have been some copyright or barrier to adding it to the collection. I don’t think it’s as simple as “we had to choose this or that”. In my opinion, the snes classic is badly missing CT and Turtles in Time.
@ztpayne7 Well Turtles in Time was obviously not coming since Nickledeon owns the rights now to TMNT and they have choose to ignore all incarnations of TMNT prior to them owning it.
@Tasuki gotcha. I didn’t know that
@ztpayne7 Yep, that's why the TMNT Arcade game and the remake of Turtles in Time got pulled from XBLA years ago.
@kyleforrester87 Yeah I beat it. The difficulty is a bit over the place, but I really enjoyed it. I didn't expect the story to go where it did, but it was a fun ride. Lots of variety on offer & great value for money.
I'm surprised it didn't review better (75 meta), but I can see why it split opinion.
Also if you get stuck on 'Tiles', just google it. You'll know it when you see it .
@JJ-Firl I've played similar games to Aven Colony on PC, but they are rare on console. Since I decided to limit my gaming purchases to the PS4 only, I have been missing certain PC genres I used to play.
Tropico is another series that works well on console, I played Tropico 3 & 4 on the Xbox 360. In fact it's the same developer (Haemimont) who is making the upcoming Surviving Mars game, hence my enthusiasm for it. They also made the Victor Vran game, also on the PS4.
