Looking for a reason to replay one of 2016's greatest, DOOM? You may well have that kick up the butt now thanks to an update hitting tomorrow that will bump the first-person shooter's resolution up to 4K on the PlayStation 4 Pro. Take a look at the trailer above that reminds us just how good that soundtrack was two years back.
Will you be returning to hell thanks to improved graphics? Take a chainsaw to the comments below.

I don't have a 4k TV...but if you did, would this make the game 30fps?
I won't be returning though... mostly because I haven't stopped playing Doom at all.
@Giygas_95 I doubt it, although it might cause some extra drops? The standard version doesn't utilise the Pros extra power at all.*
This is brilliant news though, I've been hoping for a patch like this. Although I also wanted HDR support.
And i assume it's..er.. dynamic 4k.
*well, actually it does since boost mode, but it ran flawlessly on the original PS4 anyway to be fair.
@kyleforrester87 With boost mode, it was already pretty much a locked 60 fps.
I imagine it'll still be 60fps?
@get2sammyb I'm guessing this patch will basically replace boost mode for this game. Hopefully it'll still be locked at 60 and not do what The Last of Us Remastered did before the latest patch. I imagine if you actually had a 4K TV though you might see some drops.
Let's just hope this update doesn't make the game much bigger. It's already like 72 gigs!
@NintendoFan4Lyf Same here! Motion aiming is great. It makes me wish they'd patch it into the PS4 version. I mean the DS4 has all the hardware necessary for it...
In fact I'd say it's a shame more FPS games don't take advantage of the DS4 touch pad as a mouse. I've used the touch pad as a mouse for aiming when playing certain shooters on my PC, and it works great.
@get2sammyb it better still be 60 FPS. I can't imagine PS4 Pro owners will tolerate a prettier PS4 version of Doom that runs like the Switch version.
As I said, I wouldn't be surprised if the higher res comes at the cost of a few frames here and there. It won't necessarily impact on the enjoyment of the game, but it's happened with these patches before.
Nice. I've got doom installed but havnt got round to starting it yet so that will give me a good reason to do so.
Cool, although I don't have problem with the games graphics, 1080p & 60 fps is enough for me.
Won't this make the game like 80 GB's? I want to say it was already like 70 after patches? I could be wrong it's been awhile since I played it.
I've been slowly replaying this recently with the knowledge that a patch was coming, so tomorrow will be the perfect time to get stuck in again 😁
I don't foresee any framerate issues either as it already had one of the best dynamic resolution scalers built into it
Great to see games still get updates after all this time. Great game and will dive back in I'm sure
Woohoo
oooooh im definitely going to try this now
Sweet just got a 4K tv and around halfway in doom so this is the perfect time to revist
