April is almost upon us, and that can only mean one thing... GOD OF WAR! YES! But no! Not just God of War! April 2018 may not be the most stacked month that the PlayStation 4's ever had, but there are still several titles (yes, including God of War) that we'd like to turn your attention towards. Let's dive right in.
Minit
Publisher: Devolver Digital
Developer: Various
Release date: 3rd April, 2018
It may not look like much, but Minit has a pretty unique twist on the regular action adventure. The sword you carry curses you with a one-minute lifespan, meaning you can only explore the map, defeat enemies, and solve puzzles sixty seconds at a time. It's up to you to figure out how to best make use of your limited time in order to progress. Its tongue-in-cheek humour and simplistic looks afford the game an easy-going charm, and it looks to be another interesting curiosity from Devolver Digital.
Extinction
Publisher: Iron Galaxy
Developer: Panic Button Games
Release date: 10th April, 2018
A somewhat under-the-radar action game that sees you chop the limbs off giant trolls, Extinction looks slick and satisfying in the gameplay that we've seen so far. The premise is simple: sword in hand, save civilisation from colossal creatures in a very over-the-top kind of way. Good old fashioned video game fun? Here's hoping.

Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs - Royal Edition
Publisher: Crunching Koalas
Developer: Pixelated Milk
Release date: 10th April, 2018
A character-driven strategy RPG with a sense of humour, Regalia was a hit on PC back when it launched in 2017, and now it's coming to PS4. You can expect quirky characters and some player choice sprinkled between bouts of tactical combat. A colourful and attractive art style tops the whole thing off.
Yakuza 6: The Song of Life (PS4 Exclusive)
Publisher: SEGA
Developer: SEGA
Release date: 17th April, 2018
Wait a minute, we've already reviewed Yakuza 6: The Song of Life... And it's bloody brilliant! There's no hesitation on this one, then -- we can't recommend the final chapter of Kazuma Kiryu's adventure enough. It's got a refined combat system, a story that'll keep you glued to the screen, and some of the best characters you'll find on PlayStation. Oh, and the whole thing runs on the all-new Dragon Engine. This is next-gen Yakuza, and it's amazing. Get it bought.
God of War (PS4 Exclusive)
Publisher: Sony
Developer: Sony Santa Monica Studio
Release date: 20th April, 2018
He's back and he's... Well, he's not quite as angry, but he's still eager to bust some skulls and hit monsters with a big bloody axe. That's right, it's everybody's favourite beard -- we mean, everybody's favourite whirlwind of destruction -- Kratos! What's left to say about God of War other than it continues to look superb? The overhauled combat looks super satisfying, the visuals look outrageous, and at this point, we just want to play it. We already know that this one's going to gobble up the votes in our poll.
The Swords of Ditto (PS4 Console Exclusive)
Publisher: Devolver Digital
Developer: onebitbeyond
Release date: 24th April, 2018
This upcoming action RPG from Devolver Digital has a lot going for it. It's a co-op adventure that sees you and a friend taking on procedurally generated dungeons in a bid to lifting an ancient curse. Each attempt to defeat the evil Mormo is unique, with brand new heroes each generation braving the quest. Your success or failure will secure the fate of the island for the next 100 years, and will change the environment appropriately. This excellent concept, along with a wonderful Saturday morning cartoon presentation, secures The Swords of Ditto as one of April's more intriguing titles.

I get GOW, Yakuza and Ditto. 😁
God Of War is the obvious one for me,even buying day one which I resisted with Far Cry 5..
I'm also very interested in Regalia but that will likely be a Switch buy.And Sword Of Ditto I didant know anything about until recently and it looks right up my street too
I have a self-imposed restriction to not add to my backlog right now. God of War is tempting me though. As is Yakuza 6.
I honestly didn’t realize what a great month it’s going to be for gaming.
I actually wanted to select three games but they only allow 1. GoW, Sword of Ditto and Yakuza 6 are equal choices for me tbh.
Kinda wish Sword of Ditto would release on the Switch though, I'd prefer that on handheld as I travel, GoW and Yakuza 6 I'm definitely getting though.
God of War is the big one here for me. Minit might be good, but I'll need to see some reviews for it first.
God of war and maybe yakuza 6 for me. I hope sony email me another psn 20% discount code
@Spectra why do I have this sudden feeling if there was a PlayStation Game Pass you’d jump in for God of War PS4
Hmm 4/20...
Labo? Nah
God of War? ... Nah
... that good stuff? nods
I have never ever played a Yakuza game.. but I think I'll get this one to see what the hype is all about. It should be up my ally.
@Th3solution
I am trying to do the same. GoW can wait. The rest I don't care about.
Not heard of the indie games on this list, any of them likely to be essential purchases?
God of War and Yakuza 6.
Two great looking games in one month!
Yakuza 6. I can wait on God of War
First time I'm hearing of Extinction. Rather intrigued.
Only game I will definitely get is God of War. Hellblade is coming on Xbox on April 11th so may pick it up for that too...
@sinalefa Yeah, I’ll be waiting on GoW, but I know I’ll feel a little bit left out when people start talking about it. And Yakuza 6 can wait because I should play Zero and Kiwami first.
Only one vote? Bah! Anything from Devolver or Iron Galaxy gets my attention.
God of War and Yakuza 6 are must-buy.
I'll get GoW in a couple of years . I am way behind the times ( just finished Dishonoured 1 ) I need to start Horizon Zero Dawn , Alien Isolation , Dishonoured 2 , Prey , Wolfenstein, Hellblade , Edith Finch, Oxen Free , Bloodborne, Rachet, Fallout 4 .... I haven't bought any blockbusters yet this year.
It's good having massive backlogs because I get everything cheap in future sales .
Swords of Ditto sounds pretty cool.
Sinner, is that the souls like where u get weaker as u beat bosses?
I'm a sucker for souls like games
G.o.d. of w.a.r. 😍💚💕💛😇😱💪💛💓💕💖💞💗❤💚💜.word up son
God of war best franchises ever no doubt playa.word up son
Already pre-ordered Yakuza 6, but might save God of War for the summer, not sure.
There's almost a 4-month dry spell for me after GoW. My wallet will more or less get a break until late August, when Yakuza Kiwami 2 arrives. It gives me a chance to reduce my backlog though, which is quite large.
