The 18th Century’s most influential figures are meeting on an island to determine the fate of the world, and you’ve gained entry to Lord Mortimer’s estate. In search of your mother, episodic adventure The Council promises to unravel an intriguing political tale about secret societies and hidden agendas. It sounds super cool, doesn’t it?
The twist here is that, unlike in titles like Life Is Strange, the release has a full role-playing system to it. In addition to making difficult decisions, you’ll also need to spec your character appropriately, depending on whether you want to solve problems with diplomacy or even delve into occultism. The choices you make will affect the outcome of the story.
The first of five episodes, named The Mad Ones, will release on 13th March for the PlayStation 4. There’s actually no word on a price in the press release, but we’ll follow up with publisher Focus Home Interactive and try to get to the bottom of that. In the meantime, there’s a new trailer with developer insight embedded above.

@NintendoFan4Lyf When you watch the video it’s even more funny that the game is by a French development team. Talk about cultural diversity.
But after watching this video I am now very excited about this one. This looks fantastic. A deeper Life is Strange with full RPG elements, decisions that make a difference in the story, and rather than teenage angst it’s 18th century historical fiction. Count me in!
My only gripe is I don’t like to play these things episodically and prefer waiting until all episodes are released so I can play them straight through. Bummer.
Oh well this sounds tremendous.
Oooh was wondering about this. I know they originally said it would start in February but March is good enough. Excited to give this a try.
love this sort of atmosphere, will you folks be doing a review?
@Cassetticons Definitely!
This looks to have potential to be a great game. I'm definitely getting the first ep next week.
@get2sammyb Awesome, look forward to it! Hoping the systems mesh well together because the idea looks solid to me.
Being the biggest "tinfoil hat" wearing conspiracy nut i know i have to say im pretty darn excited for this!
Cant wait to see what kind of real world theories theyve worked into their story(ies) !
I hope this is good because games based on political conspiracies are right up my alley.
Sounds intriguing!
@Th3solution teenage angst works so well though lol
Interesting,but will wait till all episodes are out as like most of these games it can be picked up a lot cheaper by then.
Sound very intresting.
So many games releases in March
@smythelove yes, there is a time and a place for hella awesome teen drama. Especially if it includes psychotic creepy serial killers and time travel. But this has the potential to be even better.
@Th3solution That’s a good point.
Is this being released in Australia as I can’t see it on the store or find any info on it?
