Yep, it looks like The Division 2 is happening. The follow-up to Ubisoft's shared world shooter, developer Massive Entertainment is once again behind the wheel. There's no release window or anything like that just yet, but we'll be getting our first look at the sequel during E3 2018 this summer.
The Division -- the original one -- was reasonably well received, although enthusiasm did seem to drop off not too long after the game's launch in March 2016. However, through a lot of community feedback and subsequent tweaking, Massive Entertainment did just about all it could to improve the experience over the last two years or so. As such, it'll be interesting to see how The Division 2 turns out.

Update: Ubisoft's made the whole thing official by pushing out a confirmation tweet, which we've embedded above.

Hell yeah! The first one had a Rocky launch but turned out great after a while. Still play it every once in a while can't wait to hear more and hope they actually learn from their mistakes unlike Bungie with Destiny 2.
@YummyHappyPills most definitely. Not just Division. The Crew and R6 Siege are much different from when they launched id guess mostly due to fan input
Only interested if they completely overhaul the cover system
Ubisoft's got a good track record when it comes to much improved sequels, so this could turn out well.
From what I understand, the Division is doing better than Destiny 2 at the moment. It will be interesting what announcing a sequel does to the original. That is one challenge these service based, MMO games have which is that announcing a sequel can kill momentum for an existing game. Also, how do you expand on the original experience.
Added Ubisoft's official tweet to the article.
@YummyHappyPills Yup, an updated version of the Snowdrop engine, apparently https://www.psu.com/news/tom-clancys-division-2-coming-ps4-xbox-one/
Unless they put more effort into a storyline and offline gameplay, I won't be particularly interested in this game.
Please. For the love of God, Ubisoft. Do not pull a Destiny 2 here. Take alllllllll the improvements you've made in Division 1, and put them in the sequel. Please.
I bet it’s gonna have an overhyped trailer like the first one
Already try the demo but I don't like ubisoft multiplayer focused games like this game and ghost recon, the mission just not interesting enough if I play it in single player only. I like ubisoft single player games like assassin creed origin and watch dog 2 though, the mission and story usually more varied.
Really enjoyed The Division, which surprised me a bit as i hated Destiny. Probs due to only getting a year after launch and picking the season padd at half price.
Sure the end game wasn't all that, but by then i had more than my moneys worth.
Love playing the division and ghost recon wildlands with friends(especially ghost recon, stupidly good fun), would imagine there won't be much change multiplayer wise between division 1 and 2 which is a good thing...refine and flesh out the single player elements and build on the great work that's been done with the division over the past 6months or so and the division 2 should be a winner
Another always online game that built huge expectations and turned out to be mediocre.
Expecting a trailer at E3 or down the line that will be nothing like what is released. Like places you couldn't go and stuff you couldn't do.
awesome, i had an amazing few months with the 1st when it released. to this day i have not played such exhilarating and intense pvp that the Dark Zone offered, it was really something else imo, so as long as they dont mess up the PVE this time around I think it could be amazing
Meh
Still surprised how great fun the game became over time and with the updates, realy put alot of hours into it and enjoyed it alot. Looking forward to part 2. Snow drop Engine looked amazing so curious what they make with it this time. Any leads on the settings? Will we play in New York again?
I liked The Division in the end, so will check out 2 for sure. The series has a lot of potential, with the added bonus that they can look to Destiny 2 to see which mistakes to avoid when making a sequel.
