We hope you don't get travel sickness -- WipEout Omega Collection's free virtual reality update is here and ready for takeoff.
As you can see from the launch trailer embedded above, you'll be able to pilot your favourite ships (and even some new ones) from a new cockpit view. You can play any of the game's modes in PlayStation VR too, including the already trippy Zones mode. 3D audio has been added as well to make you feel like you're really flying along those gravity-defying tracks.
This follows news of widespread price cuts to PlayStation VR bundles, which won't be a coincidence.
Will you be taking WipEout Omega Collection out for a virtual reality spin? Zoom into the comments and let us know.

YES!!!!!
First
Wow, that's pretty awesome. I'll be trying this out when I get home.
Held off from this because, nostalgia aside, not sure how much I would play but a VR mode? AWESOME.
@Rudy_Manchego Got to remember that it is all of 2048, HD and HD Fury. That's a lot of content for not a lot of cash.
I'd actually forgotten how much there is to HD before getting stuck in again.
Definitely. Bought this game a while back in anticipation of the VR patch. So happy I did now. Awesome that it's a free update.
Not sure how my stomach will hold up but I'm looking forward to finding out. Either way this adds some serious clout to the VR collection. Along with Driveclub, GT-Sport, and Dirt Rally WipEout Omega Collection gives us a decent selection of VR driving/racing games.
@KALofKRYPTON Yeah, good value though I already have 2048 on Vita (and am terrible at it!). VR though is a game seller to me though.
This came out of nowhere?
@get2sammyb kinda. It was never given a release date when it was announced at PSX.
@Rudy_Manchego It's all a lot easier to play on PS4.
The frame rate and DS4 control alone is worth it.
I could never get on to well with HD on 2048, never felt quite right. Omega fixes that.
@get2sammyb I remember it being trailed a while back...
Wasn't expecting this! Was wondering only this week when it would turn up. Any first impressions yet?
... Digital Foundry reports are excellent... that's another VR game to play over Easter weekend (on top of sale items; Invisible Hours £11 - bargain!, I Expect You Die and Statik...) time to catch up on some serious VRing...
@Dange @get2sammyb Yeah... and what are these '...exclusive ships'???
@OneManDroid Just read the report...
‘This is a zero compromise WipEout experience in just about every sense’.
Wow. Can’t wait to try this!
@KALofKRYPTON more interested in how the game plays in VR. Do the graphics take a big hit, is motion sickness as likely as I'd imagine? How well has VR been integrated- Are replays/menu's in VR? Does multiplayer hold up well?
@Dange
From what DF says - the whole thing is stellar. Some motion blur as to be expected - but very little in the way of a visual hit.
Multiplayer with non-VR players is intact and unaffected it would seem.
I should think that there will be plenty footage up on youtube soon enough.
So glad that PlayStation are seriously supporting VR.
Was honestly nervous that it'd get the Vita treatment when getting my launch day headset but they have pleasantly surprised me... I've got a hefty backlog of VR games to play, including Sprint Vector, Statik and Knockout League I got just this week alone.
And now Wipeout is on the list.
I couldn't play this in VR. It's so fast on higher levels, I'd lose the lunch I had the previous day if I did.
Oh wow, I'd wondered what had happened to this. Can't wait to try it later!
I can feel my stomach turning already.
Holy crap. I’m closing Far Cry 5 as we speak and looking for the update. Thanks for the heads up.
I'm going to try this when I get home from work, though I'll be keeping a bucket nearby...
Hmmm.. Apart from 2048 I thought the rest of the courses were okayish. Maybe this game could do with a story campaign, RPG levelling element for customising ship, hp vs more weapons, tracks across cities in space and varied planets, maybe a war torn galaxy where different alien races settle their anger by racing in WipeOut tourneys. Team 3 v 3. Traps on roads. Prestige increases will get hero to be hired by more powerful space Mafia families. Dunno....
Played as soon as i got home. I think its brilliant. Doesn't take anything away from the graphics in my opinion. Completed a standard race without weapons activated on one of the first slower races and it was good, if maybe a little boring, but when you speed things up, add in weapons and start barrel rolling its brilliant. I've never experienced any motion sickness with any of the VR games i've played so not sure if anybody else will. Only thing i would say is head straight to the options and change the camera so it is locked to pilot as the other 2 options seem a bit static (if that's the right way to describe it).
@lil_l4zy_88 will do and cheers for the info. Will definitely be starting on one of the slower tracks. I can't wait.
