Oh no, this one hit us hard. Back when the PS2 vs Xbox console war was at its height, Splinter Cell's Sam Fisher was always pitted as Microsoft's answer to Solid Snake – before the stealth classics made their way over to the PlayStation 2 of course.
With the demise of the Metal Gear Solid franchise following the previous years of Konami controversy, the new Splinter Cell expansion for Ghost Recon: Wildlands directly references the fallout and the current whereabouts of Snake. In other words, K.I.A.
Take a look at the reference in the video above, and pay your respects in the comments below.

Haha this is cool.
Sams got it wrong. Snake is in another dimension fighting zombie hordes with sticks through fences. He mustn't read pushsquare. And for being that wrong he gets an 8 out of 10.
I smell a crossover. Sam manages to convince Snake to do 'one last job', and they have to go undercover posing as hotel porters... with hilarious results.
@Gremio108 I'd play that. Tactical Hospitality Action.
isn't that michael ironside voicing sam again?
if so then that is great news!
if that new splinter cell game that is rumored is real, then michael may be voicing him again instead of that other guy.
And Konami was responsible for that.
That's a pretty clever nod to MGS. Loved both franchises back in the ps2 days. Seems like Splinter Cell is a lock to come back, metal gear I honestly hope never does outside of remasters
Does this mean that Metal Gears exist somewhere in the Tom Clancy universe?
So this means we’re getting Sam Fisher in the next Smash bros, right?
As much as how sad this is, does anyone still remember Gabe Logan? Even MGS5 made a reference about him, along with Sam Fischer.
@SoulsBourne128 Ah Syphon Filter <3 One of my favourite games. This series needs to return now that Snake is no longer in the picture.
