Code Vein still doesn't have a confirmed release date, and now that the later months of the year are starting to look pretty darn busy, we're beginning to wonder if the action role-playing title will actually make it out in 2018 to begin with. Speculation aside, at least the game's still looking promising. Bandai Namco's put out a short gameplay trailer showing various environments, enemies, and special attacks.
Now we know it ain't cool to point at a game and say "hey look, it like Souls lol" but come on, it's impossible not to make that comparison here. Let's hope that it can live up to its obvious inspirations.
What do you make of Code Vein? Excited? Need to see more? Don't get too bloody in the comments section below.

Let's be honest, this doesn't look very good, does it?
@get2sammyb Personally I think it looks okay, just a bit... Boring. Not much edge to it is there?
If I may interject into this conversation...
Looks fine. Its UE4 aight.
I guess Bandai Namco cant let go of Dark Souls huh?
Dark JDrama? The mechanics looks alright as the graphics. But this sections looks a bit boring.
It just looks janky and crap. It's like really low-budget, uninspired Dark Souls.
@get2sammyb If only they'd made it "retro".
@naruball How do you mean?
It's increasingly looking like something I would not enjoy, but then again I'm no Dark Souls or Bloodborne fan. They might be focusing on co-op with this game, since there's two characters ?
@get2sammyb People said the exact same thing about Nioh though, and that game got rather popular in the end.
@Bonbonetti I disagree. Nioh always looked good to me.
@RegularGameFan As far as an anime game goes, I think it looks really good! Kinda reminds me of the GUST games, except the environments have the same great level of detail that the characters do.
Yeah, I’m not sure about it. I love the concept. But the gameplay looks, alright, but not great so far. Like it looks like it lacks a certain flow to it even it should be mechanically solid. I’m hoping it will prove us wrong.
This game looks pretty good.
IDGAF what anyone says.
Meh, not very exciting. I'm still waiting for them to release a trailer with new plot/story info, could care less about gameplay.
@get2sammyb I think you were in the minority though. When the first videos came out of Nioh, most people [in my impression] were complaining about how it looked like a "poor man's" Dark Souls; their phrasing, not mine. Of-course the majority of people making comments like that were probably just bitter PC gamers. It's how they usually behave towards console exclusives. Once people started covering it en masse, especially PC streamers like CohhCarnage, and mainstream media had access to the full game, the mood towards Nioh changed.
looks a bit meh tbh, for a 1:20 gameplay vid I would expect to see some cooler set pieces
lol those monsters just look unnecessary slow, doesn't look natural at all.
