Well, there was really only one big talking point from this week that we could have transformed into a Friday poll: God of War. Reviews for the PlayStation 4 exclusive dropped yesterday morning, and Kratos is currently sitting pretty (don't tell him we called him that) with a 94 on Metacritic. It's safe to say that critics like it.
As always, though, we want to know what you're thinking. We're just a week away from God of War's launch on the 20th April, but will you be buying it? Have your say in our polls, and then slam your axe into the comments section below.

hoping it arrives the day before release! sometimes I get lucky & it happens.
Preordered.
Word up Son.
Valhalla Yes ! #Word up Son ! The soundtrack on spotify is amazing:)
Not buying at launch. My birthday is the 29th so I'll have it one way or another no later than the 30th.
Not my cup of tea but I really hope it does well for those that enjoy it.
Torn on this one. Really want to play it, but the way games are shipped these days, either piecemeal, or broken, or both, I'm really undecided.
H:ZD shipped whole, until Frozen Wilds came out, which I played mid game and it really fit in nicely as another area. If I play GoW now I know I'll never go back later when they either add DLC or improve whatever it is that needs improving, framerate, map, HUD, difficulty. No game ships finished anymore, not ever.
OTOH, GoW and 20% discount w/ Prime and day 1 delivery.
OTOH may be out of town the entire next week so I wont' be able to play it until I get back anyway.
I think I need to straighten out my travel plans first.
Pre-ordered the collector's edition a while back...whatever the version is with the statue. Gamestop, please don't fail me!
Do I need to play the previous ones before this one?
I'll definitely be buying it, just not at launch. What with a wedding to pay for I only let myself buy one big title per month, and that honour went to far cry 5.
With Dark Souls remastered out in May I may not pick up GoW til late june, but I'm definitely getting it brand new to support the game.
The gameplay sounds amazing but I generally steer clear of M rated games. Does it have a lot if profanity, sexuality, and gore?
I'll buy it, just not at launch.
The reviews totally convinced me to buy it.
I haven't played any of the previous games.
Sounds like a jedi mind trick.
yes it is definitely day one for me to buy and play it at midnight. already pre-ordered it in Playstation Store as digital deluxe edition
yes i played all games of this series
2 and 3 were best games for me
@rjejr I didn't encounter a single bug in my 40 or so hours with the game so far. I'm not saying there aren't any there, but it seems pretty damn polished.
@sketchturner There's quite a bit of gore (but it's not as senseless as past games), some minor profanities, and no sex.
@get2sammyb You played it on the Pro, right? What mode, resolution or performance? Sounds like you had a pretty good experience overall. Digital Foundry brought up that there were some issues on the Pro with the unlocked framerate sometimes that locked up the game for a few moments before the engine corrected itself.
@get2sammyb As for the poll, yes I will buy this game physically. Even though it's quite a bit more expensive here in Barbados, this seems to be one of those games that I'd like to actually have on disc, have it in my hands, admire the artwork...just the whole experience that is mostly missing with the digital versions of games.
Not for me, at least not yet, got 3 other GoW games to do first - but hope its good for those who enjoy it.
@get2sammyb No sex?! No buy
Not for me this time. No time to play it, why couldnt it release in the second half of the year?
@get2sammyb I'm not worried about bugs - though as great as H:ZD is I get stuck in walls and in crevices I can't escape from on an almost daily basis, I usually teleport to a fire when that happens so it isn't totally broken. And a few times when I drew my arrow it would only point either up or down and I couldn't move it. And last night I left the Frozen Wilds to go back to do the Gathering Hoard mission - the main story underground bunker just before the DLC entrance - and even though I chose that as my mission the map kept the FW mission - meet Terak to fight for the Werak - path highlighted, so I had two highlighted paths and diamonds at once. Then I made a jump, fell down a cliff, and died, and the game fixed itself after that.
But I know they wont' release a broken GoW game, that isn't really my main concern, DLC and improvements are. Me and my map obsession. I know GoW games are very straight forward so there probably isn't even a map, but you mentioned Metroidvania in your review, new paths opened up, so something could probably improve there. Signposts, highlights, whatever. I like the best game experience money can buy, not the rough draft.
But it's really more about the upcoming maybe Detroit trip right now, but too off topic, wont' go into that here.
Preordered yesterday
I have a 20% off code but doesn't work on preorders but I will be downloading on release day no question. Haven't played a GOW since number 2 but I'm really looking forward to jumping in to this game!!
@rjejr I didn't experience one bug at all in Horizon after almost 70+ hours into it outside of the weird facial animations with NPCs. Sucks you've experienced such things though.
@rjejr I don't really believe you about Horizon. That game was absurdly polished when I played it for review, and that was before they'd put out a single patch. I never encountered a single issue with that game at all.
Again, not saying they aren't there, but to get stuck in the geometry on a daily basis? Maybe your PS4 is on the blink?
EDIT: There is a map in God of War by the way. No DLC announced at the moment, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do an expansion pack.
Maybe, but not straight away. There's enough games already in my backlog, along with other games that I want to buy.
@Kidfried Read post #22 above. Sorry, I didn't get your comment until after I wrote it.
Also, 2 months after release H:ZD issued an update with a bunch of bug fixes for things that basically broken the game. It's a fairly long list.
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2017/04/horizon_zero_dawn_patch_1_13_cleans_up_remaining_complaints
2 months after that another update, another long list of fixes.
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2017/07/horizon_zero_dawn_patch_1_30_adds_new_game_plus_bonus_trophies
2 months after that they added Story difficulty. Which I'm not playing, playing on easy, but I considered it.
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2017/08/horizon_zero_dawn_update_lowers_the_difficulty_for_casual_fans
So that's what passes for a "complete" game at launch these days. One that requires 2 updates to fix a long list of game breaking bugs as well as updates to add in Story Mode and Game+.
But besides ALL OF THAT the game was finished at release.
wish i could pre-order it man Iran's currency crisis has got us all messed up!
Can't buy as since the last PS4 firmware update, my discs are unsupported so unfortunately I won't be buying any new games (other than PSN games which work fine) until I can afford a Playstation Pro to replace my nackered PS4.
I prefer to buy digital lately anyways so as soon as GOW has a heafty store discount I'll be grabbing it.
Nope. Most games I'm willing to try at a cheaper price, but this is one I have zero interest in.
Going to wait two months for when it drops in price.
32% played all GoWs! Proud <3
@get2sammyb Seriously, after all of our time together you doubt me? Like I don't have better things to do than make stuff up?
You do recall there's a Share button on the PS4 controller, you don't think I have photographic evidence to back up my claims? I'm not exactly sure how to get it from my PS4 to here, but I'll think of something. PS4 to twitter to here probably, next time I'm on it.
Would you take the word of my 15 year old son? He came down last night, saw me stuck once again in some crevice and said, and I quote - "Are you stuck again? Every time I come down here your stuck in a wall." OK that might not be word for word, but it's 90%.
Maybe you haven't spent as much time climbing up unclimbable walls and going down unclimbable walls as I have? I never take paths, I'm all about straight line free climbing. It's hazardous. The arrow thing did only happen once, my battery may have been low, but it really sucked while I was being attacked.
I'm not complaining about the game, it's a classic masterpiece and Guerrila did an amazing job, but things happen. It's a huge free world open roaming game w/ a jump button. Unlike FFXV which feigned open world but 50% of the world map was inaccessible, Noctis could barely step over a pebble. But it wasn't perfect, and they released 2 patches to fix all of the problems people must have had happen to them to know to fix them. Our expectations are just so low that when a game isn't a disaster like AC we think it's perfect. No game is perfect.
Just to be fair, Zelda BotW was a classic masterpiece as well, won a bunch of rewards, but go watch vids of people standing behind walls and doing other nutty things. Nobody is saying Zelda was a broken mess, but there are things going on that shouldn't be.
pre-ordered and paid for already. shopto usually ship it a couple of days before, so hopefully i'll get it thursday. shadow of the colossus is the only thing i've bought in the last four months, so my gaming slate is clean ready for GoW.
I'll get it after I finish the classic games. It looks interesting but I thought it would be better if I played the rest of the series first.
Well, i changed my Yakuza6 pre order to GOW after watching tons of reviews on YouTube. Looks like they made something really special.
@YummyHappyPills Hang on...
Weren’t you the one that was all up in arms about the change in direction...yet you haven’t played them yet.
I’m starting to think you’re just looking for things to be annoyed about🤔. I’m sure I’m wrong though^^.
Enjoy the trilogy. It’s excellent. GoW3 is up there with Bayonetta 2.
I love God of War so this is a very emphatic yes, I'm getting it. But... it's my birthday next month so I'm going to ask for it then. I'm still in the midst of Ni No Kuni 2 and I'm sticking to my gaming resolution to not buy a new game until I've finished what I'm playing! 😂
@redd214 Things happen, I'm not upset about it. Just think it's funny that people use H:ZD as the standard for a game being perfect at release meanwhile it had at least 2 updates to fix problems, added in modes after release, and had a DLC section added to the map. Yet that's what we consider a game being "done" at release.
H:ZD is a great game, nothing is going to take away from that, and if you finished it day 1, or even before day 1 as reviewers did, I'm sure you had a great experience. But that doesn't mean it was the same experience that people who played the game 6 months later had. The game was improved after release.
So to say - GoW day 1 will be the same game as GoW 6 months later b/c H:ZD was, well H:ZD wasn't the same 6 moths later, it has fixes, improvements and additions. If anything H:ZD maybe should be the game that makes people say "maybe I'll wait a few months just to make sure". Of course if you dont' care about Game+, easier or harder modes or additional DLC, you just want the game, that's fine. And if you want to play the game multiple times that's fine too. But I just like playing my games once, preferably when they're done.
And of course the funny thing is I may get this Day 1 b/c it looks that good, despite all that.
@rjejr: I felt like H:ZD was just one big glitch. Most overrated game of all time IMO. Couldn't finish it and trade it in fast enough.
Absolutely. It looks great.
With a Metacritic rating 94 of course I'm bloody buying it!!!
@Spectra What on Earth do you mean they're not objective?
@rjejr I don't doubt you've had a couple of bugs or glitches, but on a daily basis? Really? I didn't even have those kind of issues with Fallout or Skyrim, two franchises that are known for being borderline broken.
I also don't really agree with your comments about the game being "incomplete". Game development has changed. We live in an era where developers can respond to feedback and patch those features in, hence the addition of the Story mode for people who wanted to play that way. That doesn't make the launch build incomplete.
Prior to patching becoming a "thing" on consoles, virtually every game launched with bugs, and you just had to deal with it. On rare occasions games got recalled. Now, all you need to do is push out an update. There's nothing wrong with that.
EDIT: I'd also add here that games are infinitely more complicated than they've ever been. There's so, so, so much more that can go wrong in The Witcher 3 or Horizon than something like, say, Super Mario for the NES. Bethesda's games break because they're almost impossible to test.
With regards to the expansion pack; it was an expansion pack. Here's how game development works: artists/designers complete their work on the main game, while QA tests it before release. You don't pay your artists/designers to do nothing, so you have two choices: fire them or give them something new to do. They could have started work on a sequel, but in this instance they were tasked with creating an expansion pack. The game releases, and the DLC is developed. The DLC then releases 9 months later.
They could have included the DLC on the disc if they wanted, they just would have delayed the game by 9 months.
@Clutch_Nixon Surely you mean Far Cry 5 ?!?!
I « know » the series from a demo of the first one on PS2 and the two PSP episodes (please don’t punch me!).
I have a huge backlog, I surely won’t be able to resist already buying Yakuza 6, I shouldn’t buy this one too but... well... it really, reeeaaallllllyyy seems good...
Already played all gow game, like all of them except ascension, the reason I'm not preordered it (will buy it on launch week) is because I'm still hoping on that 20% email discount code, sony already send me code last month, I want it again lol
I havent played any of the previous games, but this looked too good to pass up on, and I just found out that my family pre-ordered the limited edition for my birthday!
@Miles_Edgeworth wow! Happy birthday man ^-^ that sure is a nice gift.
@Retro88 thank you yeh i know i was so happy!
@Nightcrawler71 nah man far cry 3. It just came out for the ps5. I'd show you but it's at my nans so I cant.
(Thanks for pointing that out! Edited)
I will buy it at some point but right now I want to get through a few more games.
@get2sammyb No sex? Pre order cancelled..... that's a lie, I haven't even ordered it. I've only ever played God of War 3 and never really got into it but from what I've seen this plays a lot differently and probably more like something I'd enjoy. My only problem is Yakuza 6 and my limited free time meaning I'll have to wait for this.
On a side note I played through Horizon at launch on the Pro and never encountered a single bug.
Further off topic I'm currently replaying Witcher 3 and can't believe how much has been updated since launch, great work from the devs and bodes well for Cyberpunk 2077
Is it available on Amazon UK yet?
@rjejr Look at it this way. Back in the day they couldn't patch games, so all games were stuck with the bugs and glitches. Mario 64, Zelda OOT, Shadow of the Colossus, some of the best games of all time have a good number of bugs and glitches in them, but people enjoyed them anyway.
Pre-ordered already, can't wait for my copy to arrive.
One week to go!
@Fight_Teza_Fight I was up in arms about the change of direction. I have played 1 quite considerably and...Chains of Olympus? That or Ascension, one of the side ones.
They all blend together.
No, I'm going to steal it from the store...
I personally think the previous GoW games are pretty rubbish, but this one looks excellent. Looking forward to it!
Banking on having it bought for me. If no-one in my family has bought it me by... let's say July, then I'll assume they hate me and I'll move to the Costa Del Sol with my shiny new copy of God of War.
@YummyHappyPills So you clearly think they're samey because "they all blend together", but you were also up in arms because they changed it up?
@get2sammyb No?
I said God of War in of itself as a franchise was becoming homogenised.
However I maintained that God of War from a story telling perspective, from how its set up, from initial appearances, was very unique among Sony's first party stable.
Now, while it's great that God of War is no longer homogenous of the other entries in the series, it has become more like something Naughty Dog would make in focus and presentation style at least at first glance, moving God of War slightly out of its more unique position.
Its a case of yes, God of War in of itself was samey, but the solution wasn't to make it like other things while refreshing it.
Or you won't listen and just put words in my mouth.
@YummyHappyPills You're right, they should have made it a match-three puzzler. I honestly don't know what you wanted them to do with it, and it seems like you're just complaining.
They make the same style of game again, and you'll complain. They make a third-person action game (and it plays nothing like Uncharted, by the way), and you complain.
What's the solution here? I'll let you tell me, seeing as you don't like words being put in your mouth.
Already pre-ordered before any reviews came out. I haven't played a God of War game yet, but I'm planning to play through all the other ones first so I voted that I've played all the other ones.
Have on order from Game like I said before and am super excited for it!
I am a huge fan of Far Cry but even Far Cry 5 I managed to resist buying day one because of back log and no time but resisting this game day one?no chance!
Pre-ordered months ago. Not a fan of the previous games but this looks to really add depth, story and character to the franchise.
@get2sammyb Okay so, GoW was a hack and slash right? Big cinematic set pieces - sure moving towards this style was better.
But let me ask, what was it for YOU that got repetitive? The gameplay? If so there are hundreds of hack n slash games out there doing the same thing just fine. Was it then volume?
What I personally would have liked is them to keep it in the genre BUT move hack and slash in a new direction. So away from the GoW, Bayonetta, DMC style of button mashing, to something that requires thought, say like...whats the game, Furi?
To prevent stagnation doesn't always require a complete shift.
Of course, this is the same conversation we will be having when they run out of Norse Gods to kill and move on to Roman "It got stagnant".
Everyone will look for different things of course. Makes you wonder if they could do a gameplay focus reboot like this for other franchises?
Do something different with Twisted Metal, or Sly, or Ratchet. You can only do so much of one thing after all. You just need to be sure you can move it in the right direction when the time comes.
Basically, the direction they moved in, for me, in my opinion, which I am allowed to voice here, is that the direction is a little too drastic of a shift. I said the same about BOTW, a complete departure that I figured would annoy a lot of people, you know? This departure for God of War, until I play it at least, isn't doing it for me personally. The series was stagnant, I wanted to see a change but I dont think it was the right change for me to enjoy.
Im not taking that away from anyone else, as you seem to be taking my views away from me. People will enjoy this, some wont, we learn to live with it.
At the end of the day it is theirs to do what they wish with, and for me to decide if I personally find it a proposition I would like to spend £50 on. I'm no game designer, I cant tell them what to do.
Glad the game is being well received, but it saddens me to see that "Nah, the reviews are great but I was going to buy it anyway" currently sits at 53% of the vote in its category.
@YummyHappyPills The thing is you've written a lot but you haven't actually provided a solution.
You're obviously entitled to your opinion, but there's a reason this is sitting at 95 on Metacritic and everyone is gushing over it.
I was going to wait but I just threw in a preorder, from the little I've seen it looks amazing! It's hard not to look at gameplay videos but I want to experience it to the fullest while playing it!
It's not a series I've ever been interested in, but this new one has me interested. I might pick it up further down the line. I'm in the middle of Far Cry 5 at the moment, but maybe in a few months.
Gonma buy on launch because I have that 20% off coupon that expires at the end of the month.
Yup pre-ordered this yesterday. Not a fan of the previous games but the change of pace will suit me more I think.
Also whoever was moaning about not getting this cos there will be a season pass (and other reasons too) - there will be no season pass.
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2018/01/god_of_war_wont_have_a_season_pass
I pre ordered the digital version a few days before the reviews. I didn't care about the reviews I wanted to play it anyway.
Still think the opening Posiedon scrap of GoW3 is the best intro into any game, was absolutely epic and the sense of scale is unmatched to this very day! Amazing stuff. Looking forward to the new one, just hope the voice acting of Kratos is better...not just being angry all the way through.
Got it pre-ordered and cleared out my Friday work schedule just to drink this beautiful game in. So ready.
@Wheatly It’s definitely close to Naughty Dog games for its story, yes. Far and away better than any of the previous God of War games.
Had it pre-ordered for months and I can't wait. Played every God of War game released so I'm definitely ready.
All you guys preordering it on the psn store at THAT price?! Wow!
I'm going through a mixture of far cry 5 and Mad Max at the moment. Sadly no room for gow yet.
I'm torn about these new games being released that are enhanced for the Pro. I still have the base PS4 with a 1080p television, so part of me feels like I should wait til I upgrade both and experience the game in the best way possible.
But I just don't think I can wait. Huge GoW fan, having got the platinum for the 3 main entries + Chains of Olympus. I still have yet to play Ghost of Sparta and Ascension however. But this new entry looks so good, I think I have to buy it at launch, play through it once on my base PS4, then come back to it again in the future going for the platinum on a Pro.
Is thus a april fool question.😁😀😱😜😉☺😂😁.i play all the god of war games.ps2.psp.ps3.i l l💕💓💖ve god of war ascencion.god of war is a dream come true.i l💚ve the movie clash of the titans from the 1980s.so god of war is right in my alley.best franchises ever for me.and gta and syphon filter.word up son
@playstation1995 Clash of the Titans from the 80's word up son
Got it pre-ordered...but I'll be doing family business 24/7 in the hospital for 14 days straight starting next week! Maybe it'll drop to $40 by then from selling so many copies
Hell yeah I'll be buying God Of War, looks awesome! Mind you I just started Ni No Kuni 2 yesterday, wonder if I can smash through it in a week haha
@RogerRoger You're missing out!
Yes, but you'll probably be talking about some other major release when I get a chance to play it. We shall see, though...
@get2sammyb Hey, Sammy, how many hours does the story takes if you avoid side activities? And are they worth doing?
@rjejr Agreed. Most physical games that I have with some type of "box defect" were either shipped to me or bought second-hand. At the end of the day it's not that much of a big deal but the inner collector in me cries every time
@GraveLordXD word up son god of war best franchises ever
Yes I shall be buying God of War, but not until BF 2018 sales.
Hoping for the game to be around $25 New by then...
@ToddlerNaruto God! You have to wait for the cocoon to crack.
I played one on PS3 and really didn't like it at all but this looks totally different so am prepared to give it another shot , I'll get it when it's around £20 in a year or two.
Pre-ordered, will hopefully be able to get to Gamestop for the early release they're doing. This is the first time, in a really, really long time, that a mainsteam media outlet has influenced my purchasing decision. People can say what they want about the magazine, but Game Informer's coverage was exceptional. Got a lot of info, saw enough footage that turned me from skeptical about this change in direction to a believer.
@RogerRoger I was talking about the alcohol
Might borrow it from a friend. Didn't play the previous GoW games, not really my cup of tea. This one does look like an impressive technical feat.
@Nightcrawler71 95 now .
@YummyHappyPills Gotcha. Still find it a bit weird, but you're entitled to your opinion. I'm a big fan of JRPGs and hated the change in direction in Ni No Kuni 2 and the emptiness of Zelda BOTW, but the rest of the world clearly disagrees with me!
You should definitely get to the trilogy when you can. I don't know what your streaming schedule is like, but you could probably get through the entire trilogy in a week. They're pretty short.
I'm curious about the series but I certainly won't be starting it on PS4 when at least the first two games (and two PSP satellite stories) are on Vita. And genre-wise, I will probably keep my attention on Bayonetta for a while first.
I like Yakuza more, so Yakuza 6 became this month's pre-order for me. I plan on buying GoW sometime in the Summer though, on disc.
@Retro88 Huh? I'm confused, what does a cracking cocoon have to do with this?
Please explain yourself, so I can understand what you mean.
@Fight_Teza_Fight I've heard they are certainly short, though the Rings of Pandora in 1 are padding. Its on my to do list but picking up the first two is going to need to wait for a quiet month, most likely August, as May is HW:DE and Megaman, June is Ys VIII, July is Captain Toad, Crash again and Megaman X.
Too many games. And then of course September is Spyro!
Cant believe people are on the fence over this one... literally a MUST HAVE!!! Im expecting it to be graphically more gorgeous than Horizon .... no mean feat. Roll on Friday.
@ToddlerNaruto what i mean is, you have to wait a long time brother.
What is up with Amazon.co.uk??? It always says - 'Currently unavailable' on all versions of God of War??? :-/ On Amazon USA it's Number 1 at the moment(for pre-order) Hmm, it's very odd that on UK Amazon you can't even pre-order it. Hmm, let's hope Kratos doesn't finds out
@Retro88 I know . That's why I said BF 2018, which is Late November.
I'd be shocked if the game wasn't on sale for $25-$30 New during Black Friday week.
@ToddlerNaruto me and you both
Last I checked it was out of stock on Amazon and it's not even out yet. This is gonna be a big seller.
@Ryno "I felt like H:ZD was just one big glitch. Most overrated game of all time IMO. Couldn't finish it and trade it in fast enough."
Are you mocking me? You seem sincere, but considering the basis for our relationship is the tomfoolery that was the Wii Mini thought I'd check. I'm still really enjoying it, 88 hours in, which includes some time in the DLC zone, and only got caught up in all of this b/c, well it was a week ago, I don't know what happened.
@get2sammyb I'm back, sorry it took so long, you probably won't recall any of this, but calling me a liar ticked me off.
Anyway, you last wrote:
"the addition of the Story mode for people who wanted to play that way. That doesn't make the launch build incomplete."
I still don't understand how anyone says that. It's like Bill Clinton saying - "It depends what upon your definition of "is" is." Games can't both be "complete" at release and "complete" later on, games aren't Schrodinger's cat. When a company says - "We're done" - then it's complete. Simple. If you say a game is complete at release you might as well say it's complete at the Big Bang b/c everything everything in the cosmos existed at that moment, why wait for it to be actually be released, let's say all games were complete 13 billion years ago. The Big Bang was made up of gold discs.
OK, enough philosophy, here's some of my varying glitches in H:ZD which you insisted never happened.
This is a minor one, and funny one, but people shouldn't walk on creatures heads, so it's a technically a glitch. It happened when I dismounted the creature near the border checkpoint to the north.
This is a series of pics that shows a game breaking bug. There is a sidequest where you shoot a big Oseram gun at a series of waves of attackers. After the 2nd to last wave are all killed the last wave comes and you blow up a rock bridge to kill them all. Only that wave never came b/c I coudlnt 'kill this invisible guy.
Wasn't even sure he was really there until I used my focus.
Decided to put the big tethered gun down and just go kill him with my spear in case something wasn't working w/ the gun. But I couldn't kill him them either b/c he was under the ground. It's hard to tell in this pic but I am standing over his head. Nothing would kill him, the gun, bombs, spear, arrow, he just kept spinning in circles.

That's a game breaking glitch. I even went to the next fire, saved and came back, he was still under the ground. I finally went back to an earlier autosave point and beat the quest no problem.
So that's proof of at least 2. On a bright note, haven't had one since this article last week, so there's that.
I'm ok with glitches and bugs in games, they happen. That wasn't what I was talking about anyway, I was talking about patches that improve the game and add things. Horizon may have been a great game at release, but it got better. It got complete.
Last question. If you purchased "H:ZD Complete Edition" and found out it didn't have the DLC would you be upset? Would you write an article on PS saying games shouldn't be advertised as "complete editions" if the game wasn't complete by containing the DLC? Or would you write an article saying it's OK that the "Complete edition" only contains the original day 1 game, not the DLC, b/c the game was complete day 1 and that's what the box says, "complete"? Cant' have it both ways.
@Octane "Back in the day they couldn't patch games"
I know, those games were complete day 1, for better or worse. And I'm happy games get patched and improved after they release. I'm not saying they can't be or shouldn't' be, they should be fixed. And when they are fixed, they are better than they were at release.
Everyone saying a game is "complete" at release are the ones saying a game shouldn't be improved. I think they should, I just acknowledge a Day 1 game isn't complete, not any more. I guess other people can't face the truth b/c they dont' want to get their feelings hurt that a game they purchased day 1 was improved later on, so they tell themselves the game was complete when they bought it, even if it wasn't. Then they double dip and buy the complete version a year later b/c they then know the game is complete, and they are all hypocrites.
@rjejr I've dealt with worse back in the day, so I don't really mind. And it's usually Sony's and Nintendo's games I get day one. Those are mostly very polished experiences.
I agree that some third party games can be a bit buggy at launch, so I tend to get those later. But if it's something I'm looking forward to, I'll get it day one anyway. Fortunately, most of those games are Nintendo and Sony games
@Octane I get Ninteod 1st party games day 1 b/c I don't feel like waiting 5 years for the game to drop in price, kind of Day 1 or don't bother w/ them. GoW will drop in price by the holidays but H:ZD held pretty well for a good 6 months. I'm also paying $48 for GoW, thanks Amazon, and hoping to trade it in for $25 when I'm done, so it's a $23 rental for a 30 hour game that will take me 3 weeks to play. I can live with that.
And in my head I've already convinced myself the DLC will be stand alone like TLoU: Left Behind or U:LL focusing on Atreus, so I won't need the game disc anyway. If I'm wrong, I'll wait for the PS5 4k port to replay it.
@rjejr: Na, I wasn't mocking you. I just generally thought Horizon is overrated and I couldn't beat the game fast enough and trade it in. Glad I got more for it than I paid.
@Ryno "Glad I got more for it than I paid."
Always nice when that happens. I'm hoping for half what I pay for GoW when I'm done, though I'm certainly hoping to like it more than you liked H:ZD.
