Battlefield V, the next instalment in the first-person franchise, will be revealed live on 23rd May. You’ll be able to tune in live from 13:00 PT, with comedian Trevor Noah taking on hosting duties. And that’s really the sum of what we know so far.
Rumours recently suggested that Battlefield V may have a Battle Royale mode, although it apparently won’t be ready for when the title releases later this year. Despite the name of the game, it’ll reportedly be set during World War II, continuing the franchise’s historical theme which was rekindled with Battlefield 1.

I'll maybe watch it, but I doubt I'll bother buying it unless I sell Battlefield 1. Even then, it's an EA game, so the chances of me buying it are especially low.
I was hoping it would be a WW2 game so I'm happy if that's true...but I think the name is confusing af lol
Booo! I was hoping for Bad Company, but I knew it'd be this.
I long for another Battlefield where the environments are COMPLETELY destructible (like in Bad Company 2), but I'm sure that's not going to be a priority.
Not really interested in 'historical' shooters myself but if the game offers something special - without copying the latest trend or hiding a lot behind micro-transactions, I may well buy it. However with games like Spider-Man, Tomb Raider and then RDR2 coming out in Sept/Oct, it will have to be something to get my attention
i wonder how many Loot boxes EA will shove into this one
"with comedian Trevor Noah taking on hosting duties"
W. T. W. ?
Guy spends half his time on TDS mocking guns in America and the NRA but he's promoting a FPS? Now I don't blame US gun violence in America on video games, far from it, but there's this thing called "optics" and this just looks all wrong to me. Unless the game is set in S. Africa battling apartheid I don't see how Noah is the host.
It just makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. I like TDS, I like him, and I'm ok w/ FPS, but there must be a million people more appropriate for this. I'm really don't understand it at all.
@get2sammyb Do we know for sure that it's set in WWII. Last I heard that was a rumor. Did EA confirm it?
OK...wonder how will ea try to Suck the soul out of this game.
@Tasuki Not confirmed. Updated.
@DLB3 I'm not criticizing him, though on re-read it does read that way doesn't it. I'm criticizing whoever it was that thought paying him to do this was a good PR move. The Battlefield fanbase probably consists of 25% of people who want him dead, 50% who want him deported, and 25% who don't know who he is. So, waste of money on their part as they aren't going to get any of his fanbase to start playing either if that's what they are thinking.
I just don't get it.
You're on the site a lot, you're a gamer. If I asked you to write a list of people you'd want hosting this, how far down would Noah Trevor be? I like the guy but's he's probably around 1,750 for this job for me. EA can probably afford somebody in the 200-300 range.
@get2sammyb No worries, I though I missed an announcement.
@DLB3 "breakdown of the Battlefield fanbase"
Yeah, I was admittedly going for more the laugh than statistical accuracy with those percentages, but coincidentally enough it was probably Noah's response when his agent pitched him the gig.
I know everyone likes to hate on EA but the battlefield team and community are actually pretty decent. It's the only FPS series I actually get excited about. I have about 350 hours in BF1
I just want a modern military shooter, a proper follow up to the excellent BF4. We really haven't had many modern day shooters this gen, everything went all future sex/love sounds & brown dirt warfare.
I know I probably won't get it, but fingers crossed....
