Dreams allows you to make anything you can, well, dream of. Unlike similar creation engines, Media Molecule’s upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive allows you to create assets, animate objects, program gameplay mechanics, and even compose music. It’s a fully-fledged game engine powered by the DualShock 4, and here are just a sample of some of the things you can create:
We’ve been ridiculously excited for Dreams for some time now, but we reckon it’s the beta that’s going to push people over the edge. Within hours of the pre-release server stress test going live, we reckon you’re going to see dozens of viral videos of the community's creations right across the web. And that, more than any trailer or announcement, is ultimately what’s going to sell the game.

I've seen many comment that they don't have the patience to make levels. But the thing about Dreams is that it doesn't have to be games though, you could create entire movies if you wished. Or another way of looking at it is if you wanted to make something say a house but don't know how, you can search what others have made and pick the house you want then you can alter it to better suit your tastes.
Heck you can make old SNES style games too since it has visual filters for that complete with CRT artifacts.
I hope the ability to create really cool stuff like this is as easy as it seemed when MM showed it off at PSX.
I'm not creative, but I'm willing to try and create something in Dreams. Heck, it will be awesome to play all the creations of the community.
Well, you definitely need to be a dreamer to believe this game will meet expectations. My guess: high review scores -> super hype -> 90% user drop after three weeks, give or take.
@blourf
I'm pretty sure it will meet my expectations but as for the average person on the street, I'm not sure they have any at this point as it hasn't really been advertised and it's an unknown name.
But considering Media Molecule have never made a bad game, I'm very confident this will be superb.
Those screenshots look great. I can't wait to see what the community can do with Dreams.
I'm hoping they go on stage at E3 and say "The Beta starts now!" and then the game is out not long after... it's been 5 years since we first saw it , time to get it out there.
@blourf @RogerRoger I think where this game will shine is in small and short experiences like the majority of You Tube videos. Look at the 15-20 second videos that Media Molecule frequently posts on Twitter. Dreams seems tailored made for quickly throwing together amusing and quality looking content from premade assets. I think a fun surfing experience and a large amount of short viral content is what has the potential of making Dreams a success. Longer campaign games of quality will be obviously be rarer but Dreams really only needs to make the creation of good mini games and entertaining 10 minute experiences -easy to create from premade assets and easy to explore to be successful. Also the fact that one can specialize and publish individual assets instead of only full dreams will help increase the amount of quality assets because gamers can create and publish only what they find fun to create.
