With the globe about to descend on Russia for the 2018 World Cup, EA Sports has just dropped FIFA 18’s latest update, adding the famous international tournament to the title’s roster of modes. This means that starting from today, you’ll be able to live out your dream of watching Marcus Rashford score the winner for England in the final, ending over 50 years of failure. From Wythenshawe, he loves to fight!
The update, which weighs in at 5.95GB, adds a bunch of new modes, allowing you to play through the tournament with your chosen nation – including a handful of those who didn’t make the finals. You can expect all of the official stadiums to be rendered in Frostbite, with World Cup branded wrapping. And of course, there are new Ultimate Team cards to collect. We’ll have some hands on impressions a little later in the week.

Just play Mother Russia Bleeds straight after FIFA if you want the full 2018 World Cup experience.
I bought the game just for this mode. Might be able to actually win the tournament in this game.
@hotukdeals Good luck!
Ah! England winning a tournament, funny!
Anyway, thank god for the lootbox BF2 fiasco for this free update
"With the globe about to descend on Russia for the 2018 World Cup"
Well 95% of the globe anyway.
I think I'll be rooting for Panama while listening to a lot of Van Halen.
Or Iceland, maybe Death Stranding will turn out to be a soccer simulator.
@rjejr Not even 95%... ticket sales are down overall.. Something to do with the general tone of Russia's hooligans and their dislike of anyone thats different... Thats not all Russians of course, but the small vocal minority dont help at all
@dellyrascal With respect to the many lovely Russians out there, no one wants to go to Russia.
@get2sammyb To be fair i was trying to be a litle diplomatic.. lol
I actually went to Brazil via the Playstation competition they held four years ago and i have to admit, if there was one for Russia, i had no interest in entering...
@dellyrascal "ticket sales are down overall"
To be fair, if you have a 75" 4k tv at home do you really need to travel to Russia? Or a 13" B&W tv b/c Russia?
But I was specifically referring to the lack of US team in the tournament. Though considering most of the people in the US who are into soccer will probably be rooting for another countries team anyway, the interest should be about the same in the US as it usually is. Ticket sales never did cross my mind though.
Doesn't have Sterling's new tattoo. 6/10.
@rjejr Ah i see where ya were coming from.. Weirdly may have been the best thing for the US men's side, bring in some promising youngsters etc.
Seriously though I played a couple of games of this earlier and, as usual with the EA Sports games, the presentation is slick as ever and it's nice to have all the official World Cup branding. The commentary is poor again and they don't appear to have added much, unfortunately.
Decided I'm gonna play through the whole tournament on Legendary difficulty with all the teams and see how it all plays out. First game I was Russia (decided by a coin toss) and managed to edge out Saudi Arabia 2-0 thanks to a couple of goals just before half time.
Next game I was Uruguay and got absolutely smashed 4-1 by an impressive Egypt (at least compared to Saudi Arabia..). Their 2nd goal was a soft as anything penalty for handball but I was barely in the game and deservedly got whalloped.
Looking forward to playing the next few games soon.
@Star-Lord There are no new trophies here.
If you can remember back, it's a very similar update to what they did to FIFA 14 on this gen consoles during the Brazil World Cup.
@dellyrascal Good plan. Except all of our youngsters are fat eSport players.
@rjejr Yep, most people who care about football in the US will root for their country of Origin in the world cup.
Shame there's no new Trophies. Bit of a missed opportunity there.
@get2sammyb I'm waiting for you in Russia, let's fight!
@PS_Nation Haha!
@Agramonte "most people who care about football in the US"
only root for the Dallas Cowboys, or against the NE Patriots.
Though I suppose people in the US who call soccer football will be rooting for their "home teams". I'm seriously rooting for Iceland, but I don't see them advancing out of pool play. Maybe Panama will. Will see how much I get to watch, I don't get Fox Sports as I don't have cable or a Vue/Sling thing.
@rjejr well I convinced myself they all root for the Jets... They just do it when nobody is looking.
I do Spain And go with any Team from the Americas that survives after they get booted. Well, except the Iceland Vs Argentina game 🙂
Yeah... Same here.
