Bosses in Dark Souls Remastered are the cream on the challenging cake. Sure, fighting your way through a new area is no cakewalk, but it all builds towards beating the area boss.
Not only do these guys have an enormous health bar that you'll have to whittle down piece by piece, but they also deal insane damage. So much so that it's entirely possible you could get wiped out in a single hit.
They may even be surrounded by enemies from earlier in the level, or attack you as a duo. Just you wait until you face your first double boss – that will make everything you've faced up until that point easy by comparison.
In this guide, we're going to walk you through how to beat the Chaos Witch Quelaag, who you have to take down if you ever want to leave the horrors of Blighttown. Which you do – you really do.
How to beat the Chaos Witch Quelaag in Dark Souls Remastered
The Chaos Witch Quelaag leans on fire attacks to bring you down, so wear whatever equipment you have that has the highest fire equipment. Quelaag will begin the fight by spreading lava around the arena, so stand well away from her and let her come to you so you don't have to fight surrounded by lava.
Now, get up close and personal and fight her from the front. She'll try and hit you with a sweeping flame sword, but her attacks won't be able to hit you while you're that close. You will have to watch out for your piercing attack though, as that one absolutely will and it hits the hardest. Just dodge left or right to get out of the way when you see her raising her weapon.
At some point, she will crouch down though, which is your indication to run away. This is the sign she's about to pull off an intensely powerful AoE attack, so just get out of there.
Also, she will occasionally litter the floor around you with lava again. If so, just move to a portion of the arena that isn't already covered in her lava and wait there for her to follow you. Keep following these steps and you should bring her down with relative ease.
