Golden Week was a quiet affair for Sony and PlayStation. Japanese holiday deals didn't seem to have any real impact, with the PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro simply holding steady at around 35,000 units combined. In previous years we've seen some boosted hardware sales during Golden Week, but not this time.
The software charts are similarly lacklustre. The prior week's number one, PS4 and Vita baseball title Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu 2018, was knocked off the top spot by Nintendo's famous ape. God of War, meanwhile, remains in the top ten, but sales are beginning to fall off. Kratos' latest adventure shifted a further 16,500 copies -- give it a couple of weeks, and it should break through the 100,000 mark at retail.

Interesting to note that Donkey Kong being a Western Developed game sold really well, especially in relation to other western games there. Odd.
Especially for a re-release too.
Interesting no Golden Week deals impacted PS in any meaningful way. I think it's safe to say in Japan we are at the point where everyone who wants one has one, short of mega price cuts or another huge bombshell release.
Ah, the magic of Nintendo's fully priced re-releases.
@Feena They even managed to increase the price this time.. $10 more than the original Wii U release..:s
Golden week is more of a getting out kind of holiday.
Switch did amazing good this week. But playstation selling 35k unit, is great number considering how long the system been out for.
Sony and Nintendo should be happy.
@brendon987 NS is actually tracking behind the 3DS by a lot in Japan. Guess the downside of a "hybrid" is that your handheld will sell home console numbers in Japan.
In the comparable week for the 3DS, it sold 80,000 systems in a week and was already close to 6 million just in Japan. NS is falling further and further behind.
Bloody Nintendo is really knocking it out of the park. I wonder what Playstation can do to compete with it back home.
