Of course a new title in the Battlefield series is on the way, but we'll have some idea of what it is later this month.
Players discovered a hidden room in Battlefield 1 that, after some digging, revealed a morse code message that led them to this website. The morse code also said, "On May 23, Battlefield will never be the same".
Rumours had been circulating lately that the next Battlefield would in fact be Bad Company 3. While that's still a possibility, the website suggests nothing, but the phrase "never be the same" is interesting. Could we see a major shake up to the established Battlefield formula? Is Battle Royale mode heading to EA's premier shooter?
We'll only have to wait a couple of weeks to find out the first details of this new entry when it's revealed on 23rd May. Presumably, we'll get a first look at the game in action during EA's press conference in June. In the meantime, what do you think the new Battlefield will look like? Are you excited to see what's in store for the franchise? Throw a grenade into the comments below.

Most likely just a battle royale mode.
Nothing new and original at all,but ofcource EA Thinks that it is something never done before...
Battlefield V Battle Royale.
I just dont understand people complaining about the battle royale mode. Have you ever actually tried playing a battle royale game or is is just easier to hate it? Personally I haven't, but I can see why it is a popular mode. Or would you rather just have team death match and capture the flag? Or are you just moaning for moanings sake?
@kyleforrester87 Yeah, it makes sense in Battlefield, too. I think it's just a case of people trying to "fight" something that's popular at the moment, what with Fortnite being absolutely gigantic and all.
Battle Royale will probably end up being as ubiquitous as Team Deathmatch et al in time.
@kyleforrester87 Nah, I think the disappointment comes from companies trying to chase the popular thing instead of doing something new and unique.
@get2sammyb I was sitting outside enjoying my Costa the other day and there was a family with 4-5 kids, aged like 8-10, who were getting bored, then one of them said "let's play Real Fortnite!!" then they all started running around doing something I didn't understand. It was quite charming.
@Octane yeah remember when Doom came out and then we had all those other rubbish FPS games like Halflife, Red Faction and Bio Shock? Urgh.
Funny coz it's probably the same people knocking original ideas like Labo, too.
@Octane I do get what you're saying, but this industry has always leaned heavily on iteration. Battle Royale as a mode will evolve as more developer/publishers explore it.
You can still be creative and make a Battle Royale mode. Heck, Fortnite itself is exactly that — it basically took the PUBG concept and put its own spin on it.
@get2sammyb Most definitely, and I don't really have a problem with that either. But it's kinda funny seeing the big companies scurrying after that one popular idea, in seemingly desperation, all wanting a slice of the pie, to the point where it pretty much becomes an internet meme.
Will never be the same because they'll probably litter it with loot boxes and microtransactions all over the place
Got sick of Battle Royale in Arma 2 when only couple thousand of ppl were playing it. More BR games means less games I'll be buying...
I dont mind BR, but if thats all they are doing to make it "never be the same" ill be disappointed.
Bad Company 2/BF3 have yet to be beaten in my books and i dont know if BR in the new one will change that for me
It'll be interesting to see what this massive shake up will be.
If it is battle royale than so be it. Makes sense since it's the "big thing" nowadays.
"Battlefield will never be the same"
Yes, it will.
@get2sammyb @munkondi @TheIronChimp Sad to say but the Battle Royale formula is the new in thing and every company is going to want a piece of that pie. It's just like MOBAs a few years agonor MMOs before that.
Even if battlefield has a battle Royale mode I won't mind as long as conquest and operations are the main game modes. Like others have said I think BR game modes will become like death match or capture the flag, but is that a bad thing?
a BR mode with vehicles could be interesting. Hopefully 'operations' will be back. This time without trying again after loosing the attack but actualy beeing pushed back a map, making a more dynamic battle on grand scale
I gues ww2 will be a logical next step but a bit boring. Ww1 was at least something new and even that didnt keep the attention for too long. But that could also have to do with the lootbox infested progression system which didnt encourage to keep playing.
loved bad company 1 and 2.. didn't care for battlefield 3. battlefield 4 was ok.. and didn't much like sniperfield 1, so my enthusiasm for battlefield has mostly evaporated. battle royale mode?. for an FPS that's just 100-man deathmatch by a different name. they don't even keep all of the same multiplayer modes from one game to the next, so they're never exactly the same anyway.
It's going to be a lengthy single-player experience, with a strong story. crosses fingers
