Well this is a bit weird. As spotted by ResetEra user manustany, Swiss retailer CeDe has a listing for Tales of Xillia 2... On PlayStation 4. Could Bandai Namco be porting the PlayStation 3 title to Sony's current-gen hardware?
As we all know, online retailer listings are far from official confirmation that something exists, but there's no denying the fact that so many titles end up being leaked just like this. Plus, it's not strictly the listing that we find strange -- it's that only Tales of Xillia 2 is mentioned. Why would Bandai Namco port a direct sequel to PS4 without the original Tales of Xillia?
This kind of leads us to believe that if this listing is indeed true, then it could be some sort of double pack which includes both games. That'd certainly make a lot more sense, especially seeing as the two titles were already bundled at one point on PS3.
For those totally out of the loop, Tales of Xillia is widely regarded as a solid Tales title with a great battle system -- some even consider it to be one of the strongest entries in the series. Tales of Xillia 2, meanwhile, was somewhat experimental in its storytelling, and it was quite a divisive release as a result.
Would you take PS4 ports of these games? Don't ask for Tales of Vesperia in the comments section below.

I bought this game digitally on PS3 when I was but a boy, but then my PS3 tragically died and I never played it. I wonder if I'll play it on PS4.
Probably not.
@johncalmc I bought the first one on my PS3 on a sale cause the combat from the reviews seemed so good! Played the tutorial but....I had a ps4 and I couldn't be bothered playing on ps3 lol
Tales of Xillia one of the strongest titles??I don't think so!The weakest by far in my opinion although strangely i really enjoyed the sequel.
The Tales series have been going downhill for a while, the last great game was Tales Of Graces.I nearly bought Tales Of Berseria in the sale but I held off despite some telling me it's an improvement over the last few.
But to be honest I thought we would of heard mention of a new game in the franchise by now.
Played the first Xillia, but not 2 so i might get this of true!
@Wazeddie22 Tales of Grace f was my first tales and its easily my favourite. I hesitated over Berseria since its the same universe as Zesteria which i didnt like/finish. But Berseria is actually a great game
Xillia dilogy remains one of my most anticipated Tales (Zestiria is also among those, btw - come at me), partly due to the biaslicious fact that one of my favourite anime studios joined the ride there (but the premise and the cast sound right up my alley, too). All the times I looped the two games' intros alone... XD With both games stuck on PS3 before, a chance of porting is welcome on almost any conditions, even though I need not reiterate the ones I'd prefer (come to think of it, Bamco has yet to clarify that "Tales game" they teased way back in January 2017). Not having the first Xillia to play first would certainly be a bummer, especially as the videos suggest the original cast featuring in the sequel quite prominently, but let's wait and see. In terms of wishful thinking, maybe they're planning to go Bayonetta and pack the first game for free or discounted when you get the sequel digitally?
@Wazeddie22 @SuperSilverback What on Earth are you two on about. Xillia bad? Graces f good? Sweet lord above.
@ShogunRok I never said Xillia was bad! And Graces f is peak jrpg 👀👀
@SuperSilverback Tales Of Graces F was a brilliant game, easily one of my faves too alongside Tales Of The Abyss for the 3ds.
I'll have to play Berseria at some point cuz I've played all Tales games but that one.
I just feel the last few games they haven't been trying very hard.If you ever play the older games you will know exactly what I mean.
@SuperSilverback @ShogunRok yep,i said it was bad...cuz it really is!
Still have yet to ever play a Tales game.
@SuperSilverback If by peak JRPG you mean all of the characters need to be brutally strangled to death.
@ShogunRok 😂😂😂 you sound like Lambda has taken control of you 👀
@shogunrok I quite liked tales of graces f too. I played it over 70 hours on ps3😂
Havend played xillia so might pick this one up
Need a ps4 port of Abyss Symphonia and Legendia heck throw in hearts R as well
Can't say I'm a big fan of the series in general but out of all the games in the series I've played I consider the Xillia games easily the best.
This is the last game I was playing on my PS3 before it died. (I never did finish it)
Its worth a play just to hear the most hilariously bad cat meowing sounds of all time. Its like one of the devs just screeched into a microphone during his lunch break, its truly amazing!
@Ralizah if you ever do, go with Abyss, Symphonia or Vespeira ...Xillia is average.
I've only played two Tales games, Xillia (the first one) and Vesperia. I really enjoyed both but could never get into the others for some reason. I've still got Symphonia unplayed on my PS3, though.
Xillia 2 is probably one of the weaker recent entries, along with Zestiria. Still, I won't say no to having a nice PS4 collection of them.
I'd love to play ports of some of the ones we didn't get in the EU.
@nhSnork All I remember about that Tales of game they mentioned in January 2017 was that its coming to Switch. I think it may be a SMTV situation where it wasnt even in development yet
And here I am, still waiting until a leak of Tales of Vesperia remaster appears online.
I only played Tales of Symphonia on PS3 and I really liked it, would love to play more games of the series and Xillia games are definitely among them.
No port beging
Currently playing this on ps3 so a little annoying i didn't wait a bit. That said I'm not loving. It's a solid 7/10, but for some reason jrpg sequels always seem to add in some bizarre maguffin or plot point completely unrelated to the first, rather than tell an interesting story about the world or characters
@Wazeddie22 Not bad, but meh which is unacceptable. Much like Super Mario Odyssey being meh. It's unacceptable from a series that defines a particular genre or subgenre "Action-RPG" in the case of the Tales of franchise...
Also Xillia 2 was meh gameplay wise, but that story was unfathomably bad...at least the first one had a decentish story.
@ShogunRok Are you high or on crack?!
Seriously on what planet is Graces F a bad tales of game while Xillia is one of the best?!
@Tasuki I am just joking about the high or crack thing above, but if my post breaks any rules feel free to edit it.
Forget the ports, when is a new tales game coming out?
@RegularGameFan Vesperia i loved the Japanese trailer so much never understood it going Xbox Exclusive well it sold really bad.
Yass day 1 buy for me if it's true
@Pamela New tales game is on mobile called the rays. It's good. There's talk of a sequal to berseria with characters from zesteria
Interesting news, hopefully it turns out it's a double pack with both Xillias.
@SoulsBourne128 Same here, sucks that Vesperia skipped PS3 in the US, despite being available in Japan.
@ReanSchwarzer7 And yet i really enjoyed the story for part 2 compared to the original.Mind you i hated the first so much I wonder why I even bought the second game..
@johnny30 Nooo tell me that is not true about a sequel with Zestiria characters?I just want a new Tales game that is set in a completely new world unrelated to the last few games.Bring back the Tales of old..please I just want to go back to the good old days when Tales games were great
@Wazeddie22 I was hesitant too after playing Zestiria but I can assure you, they fixed things with Beseria and is legit one of the best entries in the Tales series in a while. Berseria was amazing don't let the negative experience with Zestiria scare you away.
@SoulsBourne128 your prayers have been answered PS4 remaster of Vesperia confirmed
If Tales of Xillia 2 receives a remaster, I would like it to allow you to switch characters in towns, a feature that was in nearly all of the Tales games that came before it. In addition, I'd like them to remove the elemental resistance system since it greatly restricts the combo capabilities of characters like Elize and Rowen. Sure, the game allows you to negate it by charge guarding, but it gets very tedious and annoying in fast-paced boss battles. You didn't have to worry about this in previous titles like Xillia 1, Vesperia, Abyss, and Symphonia which is why I liked them a lot better.
Absolutely! I would definitely enjoy playing Xillia and Xillia 2 again on PS4. And if it were to be a double-package? Yes, please!
