Ubisoft’s superb at supporting its games over long periods of time, and it hasn’t forgotten about the surprisingly entertaining PlayStation VR co-op title, Star Trek: Bridge Crew. Now also playable without a virtual reality headset, a new expansion due out on 22nd May will add The Next Generation content to the release for £11.99/$14.99.
“Players can now continue their voyage in the Star Trek universe as they take the helm of the Galaxy Class starship, the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D, from Star Trek: The Next Generation,” the press release reads. “Players will be forced to test their combat skills against cloaked Romulan fleets and the villainous Borg in the Ongoing Voyages mode.”
The blurb continues: “The Next Generation Expansion enhances the Ongoing Missions mode and offers two additional mission types: Patrol and Resistance. Patrol Mode gives players the opportunity to free roam in space, while experiencing random encounters and objectives, for endless hours of adventure on-board the U.S.S. Aegis, U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 or the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D.
“In Resistance Mode, players will get the chance to face a fan-favourite villain – the unstoppable Borg. Players will evade a pursuing Borg Cube and will be tasked with completing a series of objectives before battling the Borg in a final showdown. Additionally, the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC 1701-D will introduce a new command role, Operations, which will focus on Crew Management.”

@RogerRoger yeah tell me about it
bring on DS9, Voyager and Enterprise next
@RogerRoger probably so people wont complain about not being one
USS Discovery would seal it for me 😊
So wanted this dlc since I got the game last year. I hoped they'd be doing something for TNG. Unfortunately, my disc drive is nackered and this is one of the few VR games I didn't buy digital 😣
Don't see the point in paying to get it repaired as it works fine with digital games (and Blu-ray/dvd films) just not disc games. Also, I want a Pro. Just need to talk the misses round to letting me buying a second PS4.
I wonder how this plays without the VR set.
Interesting that we're now getting quite a few VR games released as standard titles without the need for a VR headset.
It's always nice to have options but I sometimes wish some of these games stuck to their guns and stayed true to the seemingly original aim.
Can't blame the developers for wanting to get their game in front as big a market as possible though.
Great news looking forward to few more drunken Friday nights saving the Universe LLP
@roe I think it's a good thing. The market for VR is so small it means if it's available to all PS4 users, so more chance friends will get it. Also, owning VR ready games is further incentive to get a headset and the full experience. Devs get extra buyers of the games. More chance of further support for the game. Win win.
"a new command role, Operations, which will focus on Crew Management.”
Sims in Space.
