We’ve established at this point that Sony Bend really doesn’t give a hoot about maintaining long established AAA game promotion standards, so here’s another 40 minutes of Days Gone footage for you. If you missed yesterday’s video, then you can also catch the opening hour from the game through here. Like, all of it.
This is the next 40 minutes, featuring new missions, cut-scenes, and open world exploration. Again, it’s an alpha build, so expect some jank and glitches. Take a look through here, and then be sure to tell us your thoughts on the game in our poll.

No way, lol. This game is day one already.
It's nice that they're so open but I don't want to spoil the experience.
Awesome gameplay . Day(s) (g)one
Its more like the first hour of the game - if you took out the standing about whilst chatting but if you wanted to explore and grab everything, as well as take different approaches to the situations, it could change the playtime.
I can see why they are happy to share so much - especially as people have been quick to draw comparisons with LoU. This shows how 'different' it is without actually revealing too much. Yes we do get to see the outcome to a couple of decisions (not the other choices though) which may affect the game differently.
Its mostly been the tutorial phase of the game and the first 1 or 2 quests - most of which could play out differently with some dynamic event - be it weather or time of day for example. Its not like say God of War which is very scripted and even 'early' scenes contain spoilers and or foreshadowing of the events that occur later.
As I said with so many thinking its another 'Last of Us' or just a typical Zombie game, it makes sense to actually show a decent slice of the game.
Its Day 1 for me...
They are confident in their game and that's always a
Good sign, but sharing another 40 minutes of gameplay is a bit too much imo.
they where better off making a video diary every day for 1 full week.
That way they can give us their input about what they think makes this game Unique and showing Some gameplay without spoiling anything.
Is it me or does the VA sound really bad?
Another incredible achievement under one of many Sony Great studios. This generation Sony have nailed them all.
@jdv95 In truth, its not really spoiled a lot - and there is no need to watch if you don't want to either. Its possible that a developer diary could reveal much more. If its not actually showing you how to upgrade say your 'health' or 'Stamina', just telling you how this mechanic works is still a spoiler.
There are still a LOT of people who really don't know what this game is. They think that the E3 demo's were scripted or linear events rather than something you could 'stumble' across. That the 'game-play' represented how it would play out for you but take the last one at 2017's E3 where it starts by going over the bridge chased by wolves before getting closed lined off. That is just one way that could play out - the wolves aren't there in certain weather conditions, even the clothes line wire isn't there either as they crop up randomly so your playthrough could be very different.
The more 'humans' in an area, the greater risk of Ambush but lower risk of Freakers in number as they are also hunted by other humans for food and 'credits'. However if you clear the area of settlers, the less risk of ambush but greater risk of Freakers. The credit system seems to be freaker ears so you also face a choice of slower kills but more credits or going for headshots to kill quicker but less credits. Its similar with crafting, you need rags for bandages and for molotovs so you may be faced with running around trying to find a rag to create a bandage because you used the last one to make a Molotov to clear a nest.
Its a survival game - more in keeping with State of Decay (not that many here will know what that is), a game where you need to be aware of everything around you and need to also keep on the move not stand there like a 'turret' and be a tank.
Your bike is vitally important too - not like a horse where you can whistle and it comes to you, or totally it and then just get another just down the road. You can jump and control how it lands but if you land 'hard' you will damage the bike needing to get scrap to repair it - as well as hunt for fuel too. Its trying to be far more dynamic and more realistic than we see from many 'Open' worlds. Of course there are still gaming tropes like a med kit can repair bullet holes instantly.
The fact that weather and time of day really matter, and that there are 'random' events - like ambushes or hordes that you could run into that weren't there the last time you passed through, could make this game be very different for you than it will be for me. Its not like God of War, Last of Us or Uncharted where the game-play is very similar for all. You will all come across the same enemies in the same places for example in those but not everyone will encounter the same ambushes in the same places at the same points in the game. The experience of tackling a 'camp' could vary too - depending on where you approached it, what time of day or what the weather was like for example. It also doesn't look like a game you could go in all guns blazing and take out a camp of 10 people - certainly without paying attention to the layout, where traps maybe set up etc.
Point is, though that people still think the game is not what they are trying to develop. Even if you were to show the whole game, there are choices, consequences, dynamic events, different ecosystems (depending on whether you clear the humans and let the Freaker numbers grow or not and risk more ambushes), different weather/time of day effects on behaviour etc meaning that whilst some elements may be similar the experience can also be quite different with different dialogue and cut-scenes too...
Why not watch the full game? Lol
I haven't seen the other hour and I think I won't see this one! Seems like they are showing everything
I'm sorry but I don't see anything wrong with sharing a couple of hours of gameplay from an open-world game. First of all, it plays rather slowly as the developers and commentators are trying best to explain every situation, mechanic and encounter. Moreover, it's not the first open world game that has done something similar (The Witcher 3 had extensive gameplay videos of quests that took as nearly as 30-40 min to complete).
My interest in DG is more now after watching the 2 game play videos. I love the location of Far Cry 5 and the location here is similiar. Hope there are some bears too.
@jdv95 who's forcing everyone to watch it?
I watched bits of the vid and it actually looks pretty decent. I'm not usually into the whole zombies thing but it looks like a typical Sony third person, story focused adventure game. Nowt wrong with that.
While I'm not interested in playing this, the graphics are great for an alpha build.
Talk about a preview of demo lol
