In between meh and good. Appreciate the new approach, but it didn't work. But they said what they were going to do and didn't trick us.
I was interested in games I got the games I wanted for me it was amazing and that Ellie throwing bottle at the guy while running was godlike.
And Plus Resident Evil 2 looks amazing.
"I've warned you that only the big four would be shown, and yet you still had crazy expectations."
lol, don't change Sammny, just stay the way you are.
Really awesome to see RE2make, despite knowing it would be shown.
And to those who don't know, RE2make is going to have three camera styles: Over The Shoulder, Fixed Cameras, First Person. And gameplay will change ACCORDINGLY, depending on the camera style. It's the RE game which will unify all fans.
It's Survival Horror, baby.
Let's see that Phil Spencer avatar Sammy 😉
I got my wish, that Kingdom Hearts 3 console will be mine!!
Had great content. Bad setting. Death Stranding looked bad and still know nothing about that game. I am hoping it is still very early in production. Everything else was very solid. I just hope Sony goes back to the norm.
It was a lot of fun. I'm excited for all these games
Can we do a poll for PS community to vote on Sammy's new avatar?!
Just joking.haha Anyways, I only started watching during Tsushima's gameplay so I really can't give my opinion, yet.
I would put it between Decent and Good. I got the games I want, so I am pretty happy. I do miss the big hitting conferences though.
My god Spiderman looks incredible !!
Im at work. Someone please tell me about death stranding and last of us2!!!!! PLLLEEEEASE
It was decent. The presentation style sucked and the studio change for TLOU2 should have been at the END, and they should have not ended on Spider-Man once again.
Death Stranding...okay I dont know what you do in that game. It told me nothing. You walk. Okay.
Ghost of Tsushima, day one. Fantastic looking title. Would like a date.
TLOU2 looks fine, but was NOT the best show opener for pace.
Nioh 2, cool, but CG only and no details. RE2, with a release date so soon, had no gameplay. Why?
Its not EA bad, its not Wii Music bad. But it was at most adequate.
Never do that presentation style again.
Didn't like the new format but the games looked great.
And Nioh 2...
I thought it was good. The giant giant gap during the conference was weird but after that it picked up the pace.
I thought it was good. The games look fantastic. Death Stranding is odd, but that only adds to my interest. Excited for the From Software VR. Now on to that other system!
Out of the "big 4" only Spiderman has my interest.
It wasn't that great to me. The huge pause after TLOU really ruined the pacing, and I wasn't keen on the new format.
Games looked great. The conference itself was weirdly structured and I personally don't think it worked
I'm super hyped on nearly all these games though so it's impossible to be too down on the showcase. Hoping to hear more key details on the likes of The Last of Us and Ghost later in the week
Resident Evil 2 was the only thing that looked interesting to me.
@Averagewriter true
@LiamCroft Add an extra day for every game outside of the "big 4" that was on stage maybe?
I give 8/10. Just wish they’d go to traditional format, instead of trying to have a different/theatrical format. The games were phenomenal though. Just go back to traditional show format though, Sony. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Did everyone catch the Spider-man gameplay after the show? I'm so going to spend hours just swinging around New-York
Where are the deep dives into the 4 games??
No interviews, no dates, I was a bit disappointed to be honest. Did like the RE2 trailer though
My viewing of Sony's showcase was interrupted by poor WiFi, so I'll be watching on replay later.
I'm pretty sure the venue change thing was just for TLOU 2, yes it hurt the flow but other than that the format was the same as usual.
Sony always wins my vote #1
I'd rank that E3 presser alongside 'Giant Enemy Crab'. Actually more excited about the PS4 games that Microsoft showed, probably because they showed a lot more of them.
Blown away by the BGE2 and Cyberpunk 2077 trailers, probably my highlights of this year, alongside being able to work towards a Fallout Shelter Platinum for free, right now, on my console.
They had us fooled with that intermission! But after that... <3
It's a good show, I think both sony and microsoft has good show this year. The difference is sony is showing the audience why choose playstation ecosystem (exclusives) while xbox is showing to it's audience why they will be pleased with their xbox (xbox still has 3rd party).
I like sony e3 2016 show better though, the pacing is perfect with just the right amount of games and talking. I don't like the one man music show in this year conference.
The show itself was pretty bad, but the content shown off was okay. TLoU 2, Ghost of Tsushima, and Spiderman don't excite me that much, but I'll most likely play them at some point because they do look solid. RE2 was a nice surprise, but I can't really be excited for it without seeing gameplay. Death Stranding doesn't interest me at all, and that trailer went on way too long for how little it actually showed.
Format sucked... No new release dates sucked, Ghost, tlou2 looked great, spiderman looked good but not much new content really. I think it had more bad or meh things then good ones. In other Words, expected more.. Got less.
Hands down Ghost of Tsushima impressed the most, absolutely gorgeous and combat looks like it won't just be an hack and slash affair.
Nioh 2 hype
Solid if not amazing. Better than I was expecting to be honest. For me 7/10. All four main games impressed but especially loved TLOU2 and GOT. Oh and Resi 2. What was with all the Dreams bits? Thought that was leading to a release date. Just seemed odd.
Also, @get2sammyb a heads up if you missed it while doing all the round ups. They announced another PSVR game with a teaser trailer on the post E3 show by the Bloodborne devs FromSoftware Déraciné.
Great Sony E3 Ghost of tsushima looked beautifully made, The last of us same sex kiss at E3 Death Stranding great to see more of it and a bit of gameplay still looks great, Spider-Man looks crazy fun and resident evil 2 looked amazing
Ghost of Tsushima and TLoU2 look beautiful and are day ones for me. Spiderman looks really good too. That Death Stranding trailer told me nothing other than that you can walk around in the game and there are creepy monsters.
A good line up with TLoU2, RE2 and Spider-Man, but I felt that it could have been a little better so I say it was so-so.
Really good overall but could have done without the lengthy interlude and flute playing after TLoU.
Ghost of Tsushima was the highlight, it looks phenomenal.
That new Remedy game looked cool too and wasn't expecting Nioh 2 or Resident Evil or From Software to be working on a VR title
I thought it was great for the most part. And while I appreciate Sony trying to mix things up a little, they should probably go back to their standard format next year.
I'm not sure yet completely but I preferred the Ubisoft one definatelly. TLOU2 was, as I feared, as boring, repetive and uninspired as the first one; Ghosts is day 1; Death Stranding looked good but... I don't know... boring... Have to see on that one; Spidey looked good, it's pre-ordered anyway; Resi 2 is great to have finally a date but I don't really like the faces of the main cast I have to admit; Nioh 2 is awesome; The Remedy Title looked unfortuantelly like all effect and no substance to me... But after all, except for KH3, RE2 and Spidey, the lack of release dates tell me that they will all be present next E3 as well. All in all it was mediocre with some surprises that were good but pulled down by the horrible pacing, the awful beginning and the lack of anything concrete for some "deep dives". Anyway there is a lot to look forward to and that's good as a gamer.
I voted good because there was surprisingly good content starting with that bit for Control and then seeing RE 2 remake. BUT, the presentation itself was awful, I hate this new format. Either copy Nintendo Direct or go back and watch the tape of E3 2016 and PSX 2016 and realize why people loved those. I owe a bit of an apology to Sony though. Speaking strictly on content, the way that started and how quickly it turned around for the better was impressive.
Other than that. Strange E3. DMC 5 debuts on MS' stage then a day later Remedy shows its new game first on Sony's.
I need to sleep on this years, but I know, regardless of when PS5 launches, they better announce it before or at E3 next year, or don't bother showing up.
I really liked, all the exclusives delivered with great trailers and gameplay. I'm really impressed with the Big 4.
The Last of Us 2 has a bigger enviroment, Ghost of Tsushima looks gorgeous with a great combat, Death Stranding still is really intriguing and it will be a wild ride, Spider-Man showed even more enemies and proved again that it's really great.
There were few surprises too, like Nioh 2, Remedy's new game and Resident Evil 2.
We can argue about the format, but the content was awesome, it was the best conference of E3, imo.
The presentation was horrible the games great. Out of the past few years this was the worst E3 showing by Sony mainly because of the presentation.
Its was really good. I had hope for more info on the four games as opposed to long gameplay trailers but it was still stunning. SPIDERMAN and Resident Evil 2 are must buys for me. Why does KH3 have to be 4 days after RE2 Remake 😣
Wasn't a fan of the format and found some sections dragged. The games looked really good, though
Presentation was awful.
REmake 2 was a great surprise.
Most of the trailers were gorgeous, but much too cinematic.
It was good overall. Sony has a lot of really high-quality exclusives in the works.
With all the little bits of Dreams they kept showing I was hoping for some release date or beta announcement for it. 😞
It was rather lackluster, and I didn't appreciate the "church" references Layden made, but Nioh 2 was worth being there for, and Ghost of Sashimi looked really intriguing. Death Stranding came off as not only weird but frankly dull, Last of Us 2 put me off almost immediately (to be fair, I found the first incredibly overrated), and REmake2 was just plain gross, no thanks.
@FantasyMeister It wasn't remotely that bad, c'mon.
Of everything they showed, the one game that had me the most excited was the Remedy game Control. Having lost Ninja Theory to MS, seeing Remedy release a game on PlayStation was nice. They have a solid game history but it’s the game that’s getting the least amount of buzz lol
Beyond the pacing of the conference, I couldn’t help but think that most of the games looked the same, with the same over the shoulder view point limited access sandbox with prompted cutscene with a bunch of excessive violence and murder.
For the people who like that stuff, it’s great, but I think the lineup doesn’t cater for everyone, especially a younger market. Plus a lot of it seems a long time off in the future.
The 'break' was done reactively against the previous conferences. Think about the games it included and what we would have had without it.
Otherwise we got Control, Nioh 2, Resi 2 and Black ops 3 psplus as a boss bonus. The 4 main pillar games all look good too!
For me a solid 7.5/10 just needed another game at the end rather than closing so abruptly which also happened last year.
I voted really poor. Shu's tweet of "!?" Says it all to me.
Everything from the quality of the microphone and the casual opening talk to the attendees to the unfortunately slightly awkward solo musical performances.
I don't care if they warned us it would only be a close look at 4 games. It was a terrible idea. Demos that stretch on for too long are the worst part of e3. Rapid fire exposure to as many games as possible including indies and surprises is where it's at.
@Stoffinator It makes me sad that you think the game looks bad. The "Look" of the game looks absolutely amazing compared to other titles. The story hands down will blow you out of the water. I mean... cmon this is Hideo we are talking about. The creator of one of the most plot hole filled genres we all came to know and love (Some of us grew up with it and played each game like 7 times.. No I don't have a problem.) So give it a chance man. I am sure you will be like woooooooooooaaahhhhh .
@Nickolaidas Thanks for the info mate thats awsome 3rd person will always be my favorite. 😁
@Flaming_Kaiser I've been following the insider statements. He now says that capcom began with fixed cams, decided to change cams (experimented with 1st person but decided to skip it). Game is finished and they're doing polishing now, aimed for a 2018 November release but delayed the game two months to try and make fixed cam a playable option.
The insider believes that fixed cam will eventually make it into the game.
I like the current format (apart from the long venue change).. if people want to see a million trailers they can just do that on Youtube, I like how Sony tries to do something different every year. That live instrumental at the beginning was stunning I thought
Also they gave away Black Ops 3 to PS Plus memebers but didn’t even communicate it properly, I bet loads of people still don’t know!
Worst one this year by far
Me and my friends were way too excited and still reeling from TLOU to care about any "weird formatting", sony said they would only focus on 4 games with a couple third parties and Indie thrown and that's exactly what we got and wet loved all of it so i say Very Good.
But hell i realise at this point Sony could have the best conference ever again in E3 history and the Internet will hate on it!
When they said there was going to be a "deep dive" on the four games, I was expecting something like detailed info and/or a developer commentary on the play-through.
Instead, what they basically meant was simply "extended gameplay footage". Don't get me wrong, that footage was fantastic, but just call it what it is.
As for Death Stranding... I honestly don't think Kojima himself knows what it's about yet.
Poor for me, although I admit it's a very personal opinion. I feel like an E3 briefing like that should all be about new announcements. People can go watch game demonstrations at any time, but with these events you have everyone watching and need the 'wow' moments. I keep saying it doesn't matter that they told us this would be all we got. If you're looking forward to a game, and the developer tells you a month before it's release that it's not very good, you can still be disappointed when it comes out and you see for yourself it's not very good.
I also think Death Stranding is way too early for something like this. Understandably too. Kojima had to build up a new studio, they had no engine, no assets, nothing at all. It takes established developers who already have those things years to make a game.
Would like to have seen some first party support for PSVR. Haven't heard much about it lately.
tried to watch it last night and fell asleep at some point after the ghosts of tsushima presentation. the format was awful... i really hope they go back to a more traditional format if they're doing a showcase at either the cologne or paris events, or at PSX. and surely SIE can find somebody more engaging than sid shuman.. somebody like azad qizilbash always came across as affable and enthusiastic.
