Resident Evil 2, the anticipated survival horror remake announced just weeks ago at E3 2018, hosted a prominent panel at San Diego Comic Con earlier today, where Capcom revealed the box art for the title. The image, which shows protagonists Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield standing back-to-back, is clearly inspired by a classic piece of key art from the original PSone release.
The publisher also announced a Collector’s Edition, which comes packaged in a case inspired by the series’ iconic Item Boxes. It includes a copy of the game, as well as a 12-inch Leon figurine, an artbook, a digital soundtrack, and a poster featuring design blueprints for the Raccoon Police Department. You’ll also get some in-game DLC, including a soundtrack swap featuring the title’s original music.
Unfortunately, the Collector’s Edition will be exclusive to GameStop and EB Games, and will retail for an eye-watering $199.99. It’s a pretty cool package, but that’s a bit pricey as far as we’re concerned. What do you reckon? Will you be plumping up for the premium edition, or just sticking to the standard version? Gobble down some green herbs in the comments section below.

Bonus Claire art:
Release date? I need this badly!!!
This and Spyro Trilogy are my most anticipated games right now
@get2sammyb awwww yeaaah. Digging the licensing. Nice 90s bike, too.
What's that number plate? J2198? 98 being 1998 I assume, dunno about the rest. J for Jill and 21 for how hilarious Barry is out of 10?
Beautiful 😍
@AFCC 25th January.
@get2sammyb Such a cool pic! Elza Walker much, eh Claire?
Also, dammit, I already pre-ordered a digital version! Couldn't say no to that 25% off voucher (PC version).
@kyleforrester87 It's the release date of the original game! January 21, 1998. But I would agree...Barry is a 21/10 in terms of hilarity.
These collectors editions can be pretty expensive! Having just taken out a loan so I could get the $400 Darksiders III collector’s edition, now I have no recourse but to sell a kidney in order to get this one. ... Eh.. that’s why you’re born with two, I figure.
@Th3solution Just cancel the Darksiders CE. It’ll save you $200 and get you a better game.
That looks neat, but I am nowhere near a big enough fan of RE to get this, very few tho gas could convince me to get a $200 CE.
Gonna be real, I never played a RE besides 5/6 so I'm prob gonna grab the remake of 1 and wait till this comes out
I already know this game is going to be fantadti, now we just need to see it sell very well so we can get RE3 Remake!
I don’t know about that collectors edition, but I am definitely getting this game day 1.
Disappointied there's no steelcase and artbook special edition
Also is the pre-order bonus deluxe weapon good? Re game can be hard so it will be great if there's more powerfull weapon for players that didn't want to play on easy.
The Collector's Edition statue is nice, but that's about it. If it was around $120 I would deeply consider it.
I'll probably just stick with the deluxe edition.
@get2sammyb god damnit thought it was in time for Halloween!
@AFCC When the game was first shown at E3 last month, I had a slight feeling it would be out around Halloween.
I'm just happy it's in January and not late 2019 or early 2020, haha.
The details on that statue looks pretty good.
this game getting at least 90 on Metacritic reviews.. this game could be my favorite RE game of all times beside RE 1 remake, RE 2 original and RE 3 original and Code Veronica. that's it
This game just gets better the more I learn about it. Super excited to finally be able to play it in January!
@Jaz007 Lol. Actually, I was being sarcastic. I don’t buy collector editions typically. Not even deluxe editions. I haven’t spent over $60 for a game in recent memory. I’d rather be able to buy 3-4 new games for the same price of one CE. (Or 6-7 games in the case of that super high priced Darksiders 3 CE). But to each his own. The collectible art and statues are kinda neat, but not for me.
I want that Claire art pic as a giant poster on my wall. It will cover up the cracks and blood nicely.
personally i don't care about covers that much, but this looks great brother.
This is how you remake old games, they clearly understand what made the original such an iconic game. Resident Evil 2 is still my favourite in the franchise so there can be no surprise that this is the game I'm most looking forward to on any platform
Just the standard copy for me. I am stoked though. Played a bit of RE2 on PS1 the other day to whet the appetite
I maaay buy this game... It looks good for sure and I've never played RE2 before.
@Th3solution I’m actually really glad to hear that. I wasn’t really sure outside of the kidney part. Common sense dictates it should be sarcasm, but people don’t have that anymore.
Looks great but imagine if they went with this?
Hate to be that guy but...
"Resident Evil 2, the anticipated survival horror remake announced just weeks ago at E3 2018,"
Don't you mean 3 years ago, in a random video from Capcom?
@ApostateMage just use red wallpaper, it works just as well
@Deadlyblack when you put it in that perspective yeah...better january than never I guess
Don't need statues and stuff wasting space on my desk but I did pre-order the Deluxe edition. Can't get here soon enough for me. I've a wanted a remake of this game for at least 10 years. Still crazy that it's happening and it's not too far away now.
Collector's Edition looks nice but I'll be passing, will wait for Black Friday 2019 sales.
@AllTheReddist I highly recommend trying out Resident Evil 0 too, you can grab both 0 & 1 via Origins Collection for $15-$20 New.
RE7 is also good, long as you don't mind first person.
I don't care if it came in a bag of Poo I would buy it
Too expensive but I will be getting the base game. I wonder if the 4th Survivor will make it.
@rjejr off topic but happy belated birthday. Had a crazy week so I missed it.
@sinalefa Thanks, appreciate it. I know I played up my 50th big time as I approached the half century mark, but I've nearly lost interest since then. 53 is old though, even my sister was giving me a hard time.
You on IG? You may be able to see this even if you aren't, or maybe not.

@rjejr
I could see it, thanks for sharing. I am hitting 40 next year. Old too, just not as much as you. You should not forget since it is the same day as your youngest son. If he is the January one.
@sinalefa So you're 39 1/2 now? That was my age when I had that second kid, decided it was old enough for me. I always thought of you as younger, but I guess you were back then.
