We’ve reported on Fate/Grand Order a handful of times, but still very few have a grasp on how much money the smartphone hit is spinning for Sony behind-the-scenes. A new financial report from subsidiary Aniplex sheds more light on the matter, however, with its revenue doubling year-over-year from $934 million to $1.8 billion. While there are other components to Aniplex’s business, analyst Dr. Serkan Toto believes that the bulk of the cash is coming from the popular gacha – especially seeing as it released in North America, China, and South Korea prior to the firm’s latest balance sheet.
For those of you who don’t know, Aniplex is owned and operated by Sony Music Entertainment, and so fits under the Japanese giant’s umbrella. This means that, technically, the title is not a Sony Interactive Entertainment product – although there’s no doubt that the games division is trying to replicate its sister subsidiary's success with the formation of the mobile-focused ForwardWorks. It’s got a lot of catching up to do.

Must be fate.
There must be some order to this?
It's doing grand, isn't it?
Seeing as there's a US release you'd really think this would be available in the UK by now...
They can use this money now to create even more PS4 exclusives.
The game isn't released on Indonesia play store market
Man If fate/GO is secret smartphone hit I don't know what to tell you Sammy.
And Saber Alter is best waifu.
Sony can do handhelds
Anime pun
@AyanamiReign Some people on Shogun server theories that the reason it isn't avaliable in EU is 1. Lootbox is gamble lore 2. All the diffrent contract they need to write up
@Tsurii Sometimes we report on the wider culture of Sony when it makes sense. I think this is one of those stories personally.
@PS_Nation "They can use this money now to create even more PS5 exclusives."
There, fixed that for ya
I think Sony may be winding down strictly PS4 exclusive development at this point.
@DMG361132 Fair enough. However, let's see if what Sony says and what Sony does match up when it comes to that topic. The games business is pretty volatile. I for one would like to see them put out more top-notch exclusives for the PS4, but with Sony's recent cock-ups with cross-play, they may be eager to get some positive press back on their side.
So, when's Fate/Grand Order getting a PS4 Blockbuster titles like Granblue Fantasy?
@Callmegil I'd also love to see this but doubt it. We've never had a AAA blockbuster Fate game sadly.
I can't imagine being given the order to follow-up on this success.
We need a PS4 exclusive AA/AAA quality game already for Fate Grand Order. Please Sony! Don't just focus on Western AAA exclusives. Maximise your home base and Asia cultural influence to develop and publish more high quality exclusive Japanese games! It is one huge advantageous differentiator you have over the American Xbox, and it will give you a fighting chance in handheld over Nintendo in the near future.
@AyanamiReign It's pretty weird, but I expect it to be available soon in Europe. Game is fantastic, love the lore.
