The Division 2 won't force you to group up with friends or randoms, Ubisoft has confirmed. Much like the first game, you'll be able to fly solo and enjoy just about everything that the title has to offer without forming a squad.
Game director Mathias Karlson told Aus Gamers: "You can play through the entire story campaign into endgame and [then the] end-game [content] alone." Karlson reiterates that the development team want you to play however you like, and of course, the option of joining up with other players will always be there: "You can also do the same content [in] two, three, or four player co-op."
All in all it sounds like Ubisoft Massive is picking up what The Division got right and running with it. A more intricate open world, better player progression, and a more involved story are all mentioned in the interview. Hopefully the sequel can top its predecessor when it arrives on the 15th March next year.

Hmm... Now this is back on my radar.
that's good news to know but it gonna be pain in the ass by playing solo without friends to help each other. i died alot in first one by played solo in whole campigan mode
I enjoyed the first game which I played solo so I'll be getting this one.
Anyway, on to the important topic, where's Gareth?
I just wished I wasn’t so bored by shooting humans. I did like the division in many aspects, but just running around shooting humans ended up being not exciting at all for me. Otherwise I bet I would play it instead of destiny.
@tatsumi
"I just wished I wasn’t so bored by shooting humans."
Like Ghost Recon Wildlands then lol I've played that completely solo so far and I have tried to get friends to buy it but they won't some have then don't play it at all stupid Fortnight
great news just how I will play it
I like how the writer said "Hopefully the sequel can top its predecessor when it arrives on the 15th March"
Like it's gonna be hard to it unless they royally mess everything up which I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest.
I'm really looking forward to this. I'm about 70 hours into the first mostly solo.
Would you guys recommend the first game as a single-player experience? I never played it.
I enjoyed the first in single-player and co-op, but found the multi-player too frustrating. I knew going in it hat RPG elements, but the constant need to faff around with gear combos wore thin very quickly, and having stuff nicked from you in the Dark Zone was fun for maybe the first 5 times, then it was just annoying. A PvE Dark Zone would have been preferable for me.
@PS_Nation Like I said most of the 70 hours I have put into it have been solo.
You can totally play it from start to finish by yourself just know that it will be harder.
They throw a lot of enemies at you and when you are by yourself it's very easy to get flanked.
It's a cover based shooter and you can go from full health to dead in the blink of an eye out in the open.
The Dark Zone which is the PVP area is blocked off from the rest of the map so you don't have to worry about any real players killing you.
If it's online only then I'll pass. I'm tired of being booted out of a game due to losing my connection or some other BS. I'm never going back to the always online crap ever again, I am just sick of it.
@malbhet same for me had the first got booted a few times just playing alone, and I never looked back. (Sold it)
Does it still REQUIRE a constant connection though? If not i may look into purchasing.
@malbhet @RoyalGuard I imagine it's still going to require an online connection. Just the way these service games work unfortunately.
still backing this over anthem for 2019's hit, honestly I think both will surprise some of their critics but I just think the experience the Div defs have gained from their previous 3 years will prove the difference.
But then again they both while being MMOFPSs cater to largely different crowds through their distinctly different universes, it will be interesting to see which ends up with the larger popularity
@Splat Cool, thanks for the reply, dear!
