You know how in Metal Gear Solid V you can snag non-playable characters if you like the look of them? Adding them to your army back at base? Well you can kind of do that in Assassin's Creed Odyssey as well, as if the game didn't have enough to keep you occupied already.
Much like The Phantom Pain, Odyssey populates the map with randomised enemy soldiers, each with their own name, look, and abilities. Spy a grunt that you like, and it's simply a case of knocking him out and telling him to bugger off back to your ship, where he'll become your newest crew member.
It's all explained in Game Informer's latest video, which we've embedded above. On top of all the other optional stuff that's packed into Odyssey, it's sounding more and more like the game's open world is just going to be one gigantic freeform playground. We have to admit that we're looking forward to seeing how it all ties together.

I was really hoping that your eagle would fly them out Fulton style.
This game should keep me busy till RDR takes over my life.
Okay... That's increased my interest a lot. And I was already interested.
@ApostateMage Oh man, now that you mention it, that would have been incredible.
Yes! I’m on board with that!
Now if only they made this a new IP, which is practically. I still fail to see where this is Assassin's Creed. I actually see how it's not the more features they add. If this was a new IP, it'd be great, but it's not.
@Jaz007
Granted I've only played the first two so far so my input could very well be outdated, but it seems to me like the speartip that you wield is pretty obviously a piece of Eden. And given the time period of the game's setting, I'm guessing that the predecessors (who were depicted as Roman gods among other pantheons if I remember right) are going to play a more integral role this time around.
That's about all the potential connection I can see.
That's cool, never seen a system/setup like this.
