Ubisoft’s twee role-playing game Child of Light will likely get a sequel, as creative director Patrick Plourde teased that there are “very cool projects in the [the series’] universe” afoot. He followed up with a photograph of the just-announced Nintendo Switch edition, which not-so-subtly shows a document with ‘Child of Light II’ written on it in the background. We don’t think that’s an accident.
A sequel, then, is on the way. We rather liked the original game when it first deployed in 2014, awarding it a whopping 9/10 [Who signed off on this? – Ed] and describing it as an “instant classic”. We’re not so sure about that verdict four years later, but it is pretty good. Blud.

O rly? Colour me impressed Ubisoft. The first one became a bit of a slog in the final quarter but for the most part was a bloody cool game. Plenty of potential for a new instalment.
Maybe lose the rhyming though? I know it was the games jam but it got a bit tiresome, no?
It's neat they got it running on Switch
But this game didn't really scratch my itch.
I liked it a lot on Wii U. The soundtrack by Beatrice Martin is so good.
Hopefully Coeur de Pirate sings some beautiful stuff again.
@ToniK U and good don't rhyme bro.
Confession: I didn't realise though and no in my first post rhymed until just now, either.
I really loved this game. Best thing Ubi has made for years
@Kai_ not really saying much is it?
Sounds great! I hope the sequel will have a platinum 😏
Wait i thought talking about the switch and Nintendo was outlawed here and was concidered trolling.... Anyways cool they got Child of Light running on the switch and i cant wait to see two.
@kyleforrester87 some people don’t have irrational hate for Ubi for really no reason so they can actually see the good games ubi has released. They’ve release ac origins, rainbow six siege, division, watch dogs 2 and few others which are all good to great games. It’s like the internet decided to hate ubi for the unity fiasco and towers in their open world games and now even though the towers have been long gone and unity was the exception not the rule when it comes to their games it still goes on which is ridiculous
I loved child of light so I’m def down for a sequel. I have to ask what was with the condescension in the article like it’s some horrible game or something
@ShadowWarrior Look, your provocative comments are really starting to build up now and you're obviously looking to push buttons. Let's just leave it there or something will have to be done.
@dark_knightmare2 Rainbow 6 is pretty good, I'll give you that. The rest? Nahhh!
@kyleforrester87 fair point, rayman was pretty good tho
@Kai_ yeah I'll give them Rayman, Valient Hearts, Child of Light, Trials and Rainbow 6 this gen
@dark_knightmare2 I liked it, just found the original review a bit gushing reading it back after four years.
OMG Y E S
OMG OMG OMG OMG
This is one of my all-time favourite games!
A SEQUEL?! HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@dark_knightmare2 AC:O was tons of fun. Brought me back to the series. Not had touched an AC since Black Flag.
Also, Ubi blows my mind what they can still do with my 4+ yearr old Launch PS4.
It will be a day 1 purchase. I hope it continues with the (mostly) iambic pentameter throughout that really made the first game so special.
Those people saying it shouldn't continue 'rhyming' - you're the reason we can't have nice things. Appalling.
Was the first one a cross buy?
I hope a sequel would be a hit.
Please Ubisoft don't make it rubbish.
@JoeBlogs I agree about far cry 5 but I thought origins story was really good and I was def invested emotionally in it.
To purchase the sequel to this story of a princess
Is more than mere backlog regress
The first one is one of my favorite "indie like" games on ps4, the graphics is really good and I like the turn-based battle system, can't wait for the sequel
I really want to like this game. Love the style, love the platfoming but.....turn-based combat. Three words that make my heart sink. Not my thing.
I enjoyed Child Of Light, cracking li'l gem.
I'm down for a sequel, might play the first again.
I never played the first game but I do own it, hoping the sequel is good.
Uh oh gotta finish the first one then.
