Fair warning: the above video contains a lot of, er, colourful language and nudity.
And there it is. CD Projekt Red has finally revealed the gameplay demo for Cyberpunk 2077. Currently, it's only available on the developer's official Twitch channel as a stream, but we'll update this article as soon as it's been uploaded or archived.
Update: The livestream is over now, but the footage hasn't been archived yet. Again, we'll update this article as soon as we can get our hands on a full video.
Update 2: The whole demo's up on YouTube now, so we've embedded that. Enjoy!

FINALLYYYY
Wooooooo
Eh.
It looks great and all, but seems a tad underwhelming. I guess the long wait to see any gameplay footage had set my expectations too high.
Edit: Okay, it's getting better the more I watch.
This is freakin' awesome. I wasn't impressed at first but it just keeps getting better.
I'm at work and it's killing me that I can't watch...
@Splat same here dude and till 10pm! 😡
I'll watch it all later when it's available on YouTube, but it looks pretty neat so far. Very different from TW3 lol.
With at least another year until this releases I'll save my hype and excitement but I'm very happy the game is coming along well.
It looks good and something I'd definitely play, but I can't help but feel underwhelmed & the shooting looks/sounds pretty bad.
I was expecting next-gen gaming. Oh well, but it still looks good.
Really, really, really, really promising.
Watched that damn loading 99% for ages but was worth it in the end. Awesome!
@ShogunRok YouTube video is up! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjF9GgrY9c0
They finally gave in and released it. Though I totally get the big disclaimer at the start about how things can change as it's work in progress.
Updated with the video.
ENJOY!
@Octane Got it thanks!
@LaNooch1978 If there's anything the cyberpunk aesthetic is not, is "imaginative." The genre in general is not my thing but I'll definitely play this.
I'm HYPED! It's like the best parts of Deus Ex, Fallout and the underrated Syndicate (2012) put together, plus driving and an interactive environment (e.g. the cover blowing apart during the boss battle)!
The plaza at 12:45 is also craaaazy cool, IMHO. And the dialog system looks fun with how flexible it is.
In all...it might not be impressive from a graphics perspective, but from a gameplay perspective, it looks to completely blow everyone else away!
@RogerRoger Probably a good job you pointed that out, I meant to add a quick warning to the article but forgot.
Added now.
Just saw the first 8 minutes, it's great
Edit: 24 minutes, this is like the sequel to one of the best pc game ever, deus ex (2000). Can't wait for this game, I think I'll wait for the ps5 version.
My favourite bit out of all if this is when V leaves her apartment. The interior environment looks so detailed and immersive. Then she steps out in to the plaza/square and it multiplies by 100. I could spend hours just wandering around the environment and game world without even doing a mission - very similar to when I first entered Novigrad in TW3.
I need it now
This could be amazing!! Looks like you can switch to third person for driving? Hope so as first person driving could make Roach look nimble. Now everyone has seen this much gameplay and that you'll probs be able to play this on this gen hardware, let's just chill and let CDPR do some polish.
@ShogunRok lol blew this up big screen on my phone to watch muted at work. Corpses show on screen....ABORT ABORT
Eh, nothing hugely impressive so far, but that's probably because it's all just scripted gameplay at the moment. Exploration (in terms of organically discovering new things about this world), freedom, and roleplaying are paramount for me. If I just wanted to play a narrative-driven cyberpunk FPS, I'd go for Deus Ex.
@Ralizah I feel similarly, but that's because I've never been a huge fan of the whole cyberpunk aesthetic. It is what it is. My imagination is slamming together the two rocks of what they've shown with how impressive the The Witcher 3 was, but so far no sparks. I'm not out, because it has so much potential, but I'm not hyped either. Probably for the best considering how long we'll all have to wait for it to release.
Wow, didn't expect this good news when waking up this morning.
Downloading the 4k version of it now, must resist temptation to watch in the mean time!
Strange they caved in now though, meh whatever just glad we have it already.
@NoxAeturnus Now, see, I'm a MASSIVE fan of science-fiction, and especially cyberpunk, but fantasy does very little for me (probably one of the reasons I've avoided playing TW3 to this point). But... there are other good cyperpunk FPS games with strong RPG elements out there, so if that's all this is, then I don't understand the excitement.
@Ralizah Oh see, I'm not sure you'll have anything to worry about on that front. If you're a fan of the genre, you probably shouldn't miss this game just because it LOOKS derivative. The Witcher 3 was extremely impressive. It's not just that it was narrative driven, it's that the variety and depth of the content was insane, and that choices mattered in ways that I hadn't really experienced in other games. Sidequests in that game put main plots of other games to shame for narrative depth. Even though they're retreading well worn ground with Cyberpunk 2077, CDPR's got the chops to easily make it the best version of that genre seen to this point.
@NoxAeturnus So I've heard.
I do plan on getting Cyberpunk 2077 either way, I'm just struggling to see what has people so excited. The footage makes it look like Deus Ex. Which isn't a bad thing, but it's nothing hugely exciting either.
I'll probably get The Witcher 3 while the PC version is on sale and use that to determine whether I want to spend $60 on Cyberpunk or not.
@ShogunRok There is another secret message at the end of the video. Their twitter account has retweeted someone who uncovered it.
Always excited for more Deus Ex!
it looks like deus ex.wow.word up son
Definitely have my eye's on this now, looks great so far, can't wait to see what it looks like finished.
@Ralizah tbh i think most people are exited for this game because of the rep the devs have with the witcher.
even if the game is just average many people won't admit it.
It looks fine I suppose. Maybe I'm just jaded.
@Ralizah TW3 Defence Force coming in.
Just a heads up, TW3 GOTY Edition with all the DLC is currently on sale on GOG; €20.
Sweeet! Take my eddies.
hmmm
Outstanding. When V first steps outside. Wow. This already feels a world I wanna spend 100 + hours in.
Could do without the large amount of swearing. Eventually it just gets to a point where it feels like they shoe-horn in swear words in order to be "mature". Same with all the nudity.
@KirbyTheVampire @RogerRoger Agreed, I saw this with the warning, so I didn’t watch, it this should have a YouTube warning for sure. I had that tiny amount of hope too, but alas, no.
Didn't watch the entire video yet. It was more interesting that I've thought at first but nothing groundbreaking in terms of gameplay. I like cyberpunk style so I'm fine with it. The shooting seemed only serviceable, although having destructible environments is great. Under the radar for now.
I'm in. Now that I have seen it in action I understand why they went first person.
Gameplay looks interesting but I skipped most if it, don't want to be spoiled in case this makes it into the final version.
Well, just finished watching it in 4k and have to say, I am on the hype train baby.
Now the waiting game.....
I've never been this excited for anything ever
Looks amazing!
My.. legs.
Also, bored of cry babies concerned with harsh language and less clothes, otherwise perfectly happy to shoot people in the face. 'rolls eyes'
Colourful nudity you say 🤔
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi I'm bored of people who don't have respect for others and the fact that not everyone is comfortable with certain things.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi So a different opinion than yours makes someone a crybaby? I’m not sure how gory it is, but in terms of content, shooting someone doesn’t anywhere near equate to strong language and nudity as well.
My hype for this game has gone down a bit after watching the gameplay...
@Jaz007 Shouldn't shooting people be worse than strong language and/or nudity? The difference is that we're all accustomed to it, but if you stop and think about it for a while, it should be the killing that's off putting, rather than a few bad words or the lack of clothes, which are kinda trivial in comparison!
Day 1, always has been!
Can’t believe how long I’ve been waiting, and it looks like it’s paying off.
Man, this looks fantastic.
This game looks so good but I think cyberpunk genre is not for me. I am personally in love with fantasy and historical settings (TW3, AC, RDR...) and I prefer third person camera. I am also not a massive fan of shooters but I feel a little obligated to play this game because it is coming from one of my favourite studios who made my favourite game of all time. I will wait until the game's reviews release and then decide if I will buy it or not. 90% chance is I will already buy it because cd projekt red is an amazing studio that deserves my money just for what they did with TW3.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Agreed. There is something deeply wrong with the idea that words and nudity are more offensive than murder and gratuitous violence. If you don't care for strong language, fine. If you're too prudish to deal with a human being's natural state, fine (weird, but fine). But if those two things get you more upset than charging around killing with abandon, however, then that is some serious cognitive dissonance.
Holy moly! This look incredible! The vibe is perfect with the music and the atmosphere, it make quests like this actually feel proper tense. Absolutely fantastic. Jackie is like a human equivalent of Bender from Futurama and it all looks cool as f**k!
I really really can't wait for this on both PS4 and PS5.
Unless I know that Jackie (the generic mexican badass) is not to be heard again after 10 minutes I'll give this game a pass... which is a shame because it looks awesome
I dont play fps games but its looking extremely likely i will be making an exception here
I love me some swearing, but I swear all the time anyway so hardly notice it.
@Octane I think there’s a reason we make light-hearted jokes about killing friends about family growing up, but not sexual jokes so much, or that we when we play around with each, you might pretend to be a pirate and “shoot” your friend, but not something sexual.
Swearing also is still real. Shooting someone is fake. But let’s say I’m making a game. Saying the word is still as real for the game as it is in real life, but other stuff like the shooting, that’s not real still.
And for nudity, if you look into it, porn and stuff can actually has a lot more disasterous consequences than watching a violent movie. I’m not calling this porn, and it doesn’t sound like it given the context, but but just comparing the two things. Watching sexual stuff can form serious addictions. Again, I’m not saying this game is porn. I don’t know enough about to make that claim if I wanted to lol.
Also, killing doesn’t make a game rated M. That’s in plenty of lower rated games. No one thinks nudity should be in a T rated Uncharted game, but the action sequences don’t warrant an M rating. And if we’re going to talk excessive gore, it needs to mentioned as opposed to just shooting people. I think gore can be bit much too sometimes.
Regardless, calling the opposing opinions crybabys isn’t the answer.
@Jazz007 I’m not sure how gory it is, but in terms of content, shooting someone doesn’t anywhere near equate to strong language and nudity as well.
Just WOW!
@Sanquine So you think Star Wars Battlefront would be more okay if the shooting replaced with all the unsaved language and and nudity you could think of?
@Jaz007 I do not get why you are so concerned about unsaved language or nudity to begin with. I mean murdering someone (Looks at your avatar) in my book is far worse. But i think where you are born really shapes your values. I am born in Europe(Netherlands) hence that can explain why i do not get offended by nudity(perfectly natural; some breasts will not make you a porn addict) and language ( i do not like swearing, but i think some swearing is perfectly acceptable. I think unsaved language becomes a problem when your parents or the environment around you don't correct you. This is my view on the whole nudity vs violence.
@Jaz007 ''Also, killing doesn’t make a game rated M. That’s in plenty of lower rated games.''
And that's exactly my point. You don't mind it because you're used to it. Because you grew up playing with toy guns, etc. However, my point is that when you think about it for a moment, killing someone should never be more ''fine'' than nudity or swearing. We're just trained to think it doesn't matter, because you see it all around you (films, games, etc.). It should be the other way around, no clothing or a few bad words should be way less ''offensive'' than killing someone.
And nudity doesn't immediately equate to ''porn and stuff''
@Octane I didn't say it just made it porn, but it is up the same alley one way or another, but there is context and intent. I see you meant that lighthearted though. I see your point, but you made it respectfully and we can agree to disagree on it. You didn't call someone a "crybaby" or whatnot because you they have a different opinion though. That's what frustrates me the most about this sometimes. The name calling comes out so quickly. Thanks for keeping it respectful.
@Octane My personal reasoning behind it is that nudity can cause far worse problems for a person than shooting someone in a video game ever could. Most people don't tend to get addicted to the act of violence and whatnot, unlike nudity, unless they have some sort of weird issue that they should probably look into getting help for.
People can look at nudity if they want, since we all have to make our own choices, but my point is that it has consequences, unlike looking at someone getting shot in a game. Most people don't even realize that they're addicted to it until they try to stop and realize that it's very difficult to.
Not that what's being portrayed in Cyberpunk is full-blown pornography, although none of us have seen much of the game, so who knows. I just know that for people who have had problems with such things, it's better to avoid it as much as possible.
Looks OK so far but I'm not feeling it yet. Just seems like a vapid, ultra-violent, over-sexualized shooter to me. Good to see gameplay in motion but I'm not at all convinced just yet.
Holy mother of God, my wife is not going to see me for months!
Looks fantastic. If this is coming out for PS4 then I might wait for a PS5 version instead I'd be lieing though if I say I'm not a tiny disappointed haha because the media constantly hyped how next gen this game was having seen the behind the door demo. It had me expecting TLOU2 level animations and graphics in a massive open world larger than Witcher 3.
@keihtg It looks great gameplay its a bit like Fallout with realistic characters and a Syndicate paint job really nice. 😁
