We’re regularly writing about Shenmue again and it’s really bloody strange. Coinciding with tomorrow’s Shenmue I & II release, Yu Suzuki is lining up some kind of Shenmue III announcement during the Gamescom 2018 opening ceremony. The show – which will also showcase world premieres and reveals from a variety of publishers like Ubisoft and THQ Nordic – is scheduled to get underway from 10AM BST tomorrow.
While the veteran director will not be in Cologne, he’s prepared a short video statement which will air during the event itself. Could it be a release date? It seems unlikely at this stage, but hopefully we get a good progress update on the project, and perhaps even some new gameplay footage. What are you hoping to see? Get sweaty in the comments section below.

Any idea yet if you will be streaming this 'opening ceremony'?
Hopefully they show how Ryo can play panzer dragoon saga on his Saturn meaning that we can finally play that game somehow

Outrun and Hang -on are still amazingly fun games to this day
Do any of you know where i can find some sailors?
@BearsEatBeets If we can get an embed, yes!
release date and lengthy gameplay trailer please!
And, the game is cancelled! He then proceeds to commit sppuku to redeem himself. (I hope it's something good, maybe the little girl doesn't look like she's scarier than all amnesia games combined anymore.)
