There’s a moment early in Shenmue II where you’ll lose all of your money, and there’s nothing you can do about it. From that point, you’re going to have to try and make some cash if you want to purchase toy capsules or play arcade games. There are various jobs you can do to make some dollars, including carrying crates and working Lucky Hit stands. If you want to quickly earn the $500 that Cool Z requests when you’re trying to meet Ren of Heavens, however, here’s how you can easily make lots of money in Shenmue II.
How to Easily Make Lots of Money in Shenmue II
To easily make lots of money in Shenmue II, your best bet is to play Big or Small. This is one of the many gambling games in the sequel, and you’ll find it at the Fortune’s Pier in Aberdeen. (There are also Big or Small betting stations in the Old Government Office Site if you’ve already moved to Kowloon.)
Big or Small is a relatively straightforward game: you bet whether the sum total of three dice will be, you guessed it, big or small. Small is when the total is 10 or less; Big is when the total is 11 or higher. A correct bet doubles your stake, but there are other wrinkles: Zhen Zhong quadruples your stake if the dice total is exactly 10 or 11; Chow multiplies your stake by eight if you get three consecutive numbers on the dice; Yidian Pair multiplies your stake by 12 if any two selected dice show the same number. There’s also Wai Sik if you get three numbers the same, which will multiply your stake by 30.
If you’re trying to raise the $500 for Cool Z to meet Ren of Heavens, then we recommend you go to Warehouse No. 6 at the Fortune’s Pier in Aberdeen. A minimum bet here is $10 and a maximum bet is $50. Save before gambling, and then put a maximum stake on Big. If you win, save and repeat. If you lose, reload your save and try again. Repeat this process a few times until you have a decent amount of cash.
Then head to Warehouse No. 10 at the Fortune’s Pier in Aberdeen (it’s just beyond the café, which is opposite Warehouse No. 6). Again, save before gambling, and then put a maximum stake on Big. Save if you win; reload if you lose. Repeat the process. You can try betting Zhen Zhong at Warehouse No. 10, which will quadruple your stake if you win. Keep doing this until you’re comfortable with the amount of money you’ve amassed, then continue on with your adventure, knowing that your wallet’s a little heavier.

I see a lot of people posting about this game, but no one ever adequately explains just how to place your bet.
Obviously, you have to bet on big or small. But is there a part of the mats that represents those bets, such as small being on the left and big on the right?
