Unearthing Mars 2 will expand upon the scope originally hinted in last year’s game, bringing a full first-person shooter campaign with PSVR Aim Controller support to PlayStation VR next month. Due out on 18th September, the title will see you travelling back in time, where you’ll need to face off against an ancient civilisation from the Red Planet.
It sounds a little cliché, with “Ark Devices” used to analyse mystical fragments, but the key thing is that you can bend time in order to take the extraterrestrial suckers out. “In any enemy encounter the player is able to trigger sharp focus, where within a split second of slowed time, the player is able to quickly aim and take down enemy weak points,” Winking Entertainment’s Eleanor Liu explained.
She added: “In the end, Unearthing Mars 2 is all about the boss battles. From fighting superhuman behemoths to gigantic automatons to a showdown in space limbo, these boss battles will test your shooting ability while offering unique gameplay mechanics in each fight.” The game will launch at $19.99, so it’s not exactly going to break the bank – it looks decent.

Looks great for that cheap price. 😁
Played the first game, and I didn't liked it. Felt more like an 2 and a half hour tech demo. It had some few decent moments like the shooter segment bit the rest were poorly executed ideas. Same goes for the story and characters, which I barely even cared about. It wasn't as bad as Martian VR but it was still a mediocre game.
The sequel does look better though, and is nice to see a chinese developer listening and learning from its critics. Though it does makes me wonder: was the first game even that successful? What was so good about the game that it warrant enough to have a sequel? I mean, if Unearthing Mars can have a sequel, why can't The Order 1886 have one as well?
Oh and by the way, the people publishing the game were responsible for the barebone wave shooter that is The Walker, so I suggest to lower your expectations.
Oh yeah, Unearthing Mars...uhm....them graphics, amiright?
