This is it, folks – this is pretty much the last week before the release schedule goes absolutely mental for the holidays. Assuming you’re not already playing something new, then this may be your last opportunity to clear up your backlog. Good luck.

I polished off the first Shenmue last night, and it was pleasure to replay that game. I’m now on to Shenmue II, though, and I intend to take this slowly because it is very much my personal favourite game of all time.

I've only gone and got myself invested in a brand new Diablo III character, haven't I? A mere mention of that game is enough to give me the urge to go back for another run, and since there's a new season going on, the temptation was simply too great.

I have plenty of games to be getting on with this weekend, but first and foremost on the agenda is Donut County, a game about sending things tumbling down a hole in the ground. A review is on the way, but not before I also finally get started on DOOM.

After putting off starting Stardew Valley for multiple years, I've begun playing it, and now I'm not sure if I'll be able to stop. Someone send help!

I haven't checked out any August 2018 PS Plus games yet, so I'll download Draw Slasher on my PS Vita. I don’t actually know anything about Draw Slasher, except that you control a sword slashing ninja via finger-swiping touchscreen controls.

Embracing the uber-nerdiness of Warhammer 40k Inquisitor: Martyr which takes the Diablo format to space and playing Shadow Awakens to review which is a wicked cheap-'n'-cheerful top down combat heavy adventure, too.
Rebecca Stow, Reviewer
Not been playing anything new but I have been going back to my favourite game of all time, Bloodborne. I may be on my 7th playthough of FromSoftware’s gothic masterpiece but this game never gets old for me.
What are you playing this weekend, then? Are you prepared for the onslaught of the new releases incoming? Look for cover in the comments section below.

MHW. Finally defeated Extreme Behemoth with randoms (via SOS) after countless tries.
Maybe I'll finally finish Ni No Kuni 2 this weekend.
Maybe, if I get time and finish Ni No Kuni 2, I'll start on Shenmue.
I'm still engrossed in the new World of Warcraft expansion so that's taking up most of my time. However the past couple of days has also seen me playing Warhammer 40k: Inquisitor - Martyr (bloody hell, what a title). So far it's everything I could have hoped for, and we've been waiting long enough for a decent videogame based in the universe (other than Space Marine).
Nothing yet but I plan to resume Rise of the Tomb Raider starting tomorrow (Sunday).
Hoping to finish this game by next weekend, there are other games I've been wanting to try out.
Guacamelee 2 on ps4, hollow knight on switch, and fortnite on note9. I uninstalled fortnite about 30 minutes on ps4, and about 20 minutes on switch, but I find playing it on smartphone is a little bit fun, although the control is super horrible. Maybe because nearly everybody (including me) playing it like drunken maniac on phone lol.
Guacamelee 2 is super fun, while the first game sometimes referencing other games by putting the game posters in guacamelee town, in guacamelee 2 usually the reference is in-game. Just play it until the very first "boss" and you'll see
Hollow knight is pretty cool, I like the game's moody music and graphics, and the combat seems good.
Rise of the tomb raider. Slime rancher and back to the future.
Odin's Sphere and the Japanese Fist of the North Star Game with some reading for school and Yakuza Kiwami on the side.
I'm finishing up some last minute things in my God of War NG+ file before I restart in GMGoW difficulty. That's gonna be my permanent save once I finish that difficulty. I'm also played Dead Cells which I'm getting seriously addicted to.
@WanderingBullet Extremely cheap Behemoth you mean and congratulations
@GKO900 The fight is more manageable if your team has a good tank. I've played with teams that had tanks but none of them could grab enmity. And thanks, btw.
Fitting front image for me personally as I finally finished Bloodborne last night, Platinum and all! Superb game and one of the best I've played in years.
I'm off work with a lung problem atm so actually have quite a bit of free time to game this weekend. Not quite sure what to jump into next. I wanna finish off my replay of Life is Strange soon and might check out the latest episode of The Walking Dead as well.
@WanderingBullet You deserve a medal for beating Extreme Behemoth with randoms. Absolute hero.
I’m still finishing up the lost legacy from last week. Much longer and better than I though it would be. For some reason I thought the open work bit was the whole game.
@ShogunRok Thanks but I loss count the amount of tries it took. :/
FINAL FANTASY X HD, it's about time i got back to it and finished it
Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, yeah i know it got bad press but i'm still really enjoying it and i don't care if the X-Men ain't in the game
Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2, getting back into it in preparation for the upcoming DLC
Shenmue, i think i have gotten re-used to the tank controls now
and MAYBE if i can find time then Resident Evil 6 and i may be in a small minority but it's still my favourite of the franchise
Finished Dead Cells on hard mode yesterday, great fun. That last boss fight is so manic, had to save a clip of it. On to very hard now.
Still playing H1Z1 for some reason. Love getting a sneaky win on that. Never underestimate smoke grenades.
After 35 hours, I'm on the true final boss of hollow knight, which I'm having massive difficulty with, so I might go and try out the newly released DLC, which has come out at a perfect time! Other than that, not much, although Okami HD is looking awfully tempting, so I might give in to that soon!
Still piling through God of War, loving it, got a few more Valkyries to sort out.
My weekends are pretty predictable where games are concerned and that is unlikely to change..(at least not until Spiderman and Dragon Quest XI release!)
Switch
Stardew Valley
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Ps4
Atelia Sophie
@WanderingBullet At least you beat him that says a lot, I already tried 20 times but no luck it's driving me crazy definitely not fun at all and cheap every time I go away and try to heal myself or other a meteor comes out of nowhere and kills me 😕
Wowzer, I might actually be able to get into some games this weekend. I should continue my Hollow Knight playthrough but I somewhat fancy something a little more chilled and mindless because my brain is frazzled from work, DIY and general life. May go back to Metro Redux or finish off my umpteenth play through of Portal 2.
@Futureshark oh yea good look luck with that queen👍. I finished her last week. Talk about a hairpulling experience but I wouldn't trade for nothing the satisfaction of ripping those wings off.
Back to rainbow six siege, Doom 2016, octopath traveler, and a little dead cells thrown in.(still wrapping my head around that one).
@GKO900 Yeah, I really hate those normal meteor attacks too. I find there's very little window of time to dodge them.
Wow I guess not playing anything on a Sony system ensures that your weekend plans aren't posted 😂.
Anyway. I will be continuing with Octopath Traveler on the Switch. I finished the demo and just fell in love with this game. Other then that I will be playing Graveyard Keeper on the Xbox One.
Have a great weekend everyone!!!
In between watching the two big Serie A games this evening, I’ll continue with Final Fantasy XII Remaster which is becoming my favorite FF game I think, love the gambit system! Aside from that it’ll be the usual few runs on Dead Cells (my best run has gotten me to the Clockwork tower), Rocket League and Smite
PS4- Yakuza 6, Shantea 1/2 Genie Hero, Fighting EX Layer, and Street Fighter V.
Switch- Super Mario Odyssey, Mega Man X Legacy Collection(1-4) and a few Neo Geo Games.
So does Shemnue have cool trophies?
Recently got myself a 2tb external hard drive so I'm in the process of reinstalling a load for stuff Ive had to delete for newer games so DOOM, Horizon, Uncharted Trilogy, Battlefield 1, Shadow Warrior, Mortal Kombat & Injustice 2 all ready to go might slam GTA5 on as well in the mean time I'll be New Game Plusing God Of War bit strange having the blades from the beginning
Way of the Samurai 3. I also got MGS1 and Horizon so might try those out too.
Okami HD. High-quality little Zelda clone. Glad I ignored it before now, though.
Playing some more Nier Automata.
Should have Guacamelee finished very soon. After that I think I might start a replay of BioShock Infinite or Crash Bandicoot 3.
Continuing with Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm. I want to ramp it up a bit over the next week and hopefully have it finished before Dragon Quest XI arrives!
Handheld is the same as last week - Trails in the Sky Second Chapter and Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime. I haven't made much progress recently as it is hard to find the time!
Guacamelee 2 baby.
I'm playing getting rinsed for a new kitchen in Magnet
@kyleforrester87 A little more exciting than gutting the kitchen and giving it a good clean, more expensive though!
Trying to get through my ps plus backlog so Im starting with Mafia 3 and maybe some Until dawn
Dark Souls, stuck on the Four Kings fight.
Also, started Amnesia last night. I've only played half an hour so (WAIT FOR IT) not much has happened yet, in fact (WAIT FOR IT) it all seems a bit forgettable so far.
EDIT - Four Kings are down
Devil May Cry 4 and I’m not enjoying so much, like I did with the third game.
So, Biomutant delayed to 2019, I know it’s better to wait rather than play a broken game, but so many games are coming next year already.
@roe the chalice dungeons have put me off trying for the Platinum on Bloodborne
Switching between 'monster hunter world' and 'ni no kuni 2'. Quite enjoying the relaxing vibe of 'ni no kuni 2'
Got the Devil May Cry Collection on ps4 and have been playing the first one
resonance of fate. the hardest rpg ever man.this game is addicted.💛💗💜.extremely fun game.amazing graphics.word up son
Been having a blast with Dead Cells these past few days. Also re-downloaded Destiny 2, which I haven't played since the first dlc came out, in order to prepare for Forsaken in a week or two. I'm looking forward to playing the new crucible mode coming out, Gambit.
@RedMan33 yeah the Dungeons nearly made me give up on the platinum as well but ultimately I didn't find it as tough as I first feared. Sure, a few bosses had me thinking I'd never beat them at times but it's not too difficult if you're patient with it. You can get loads of echoes in the depth 4 and 5 dungeons and if you're smart with it you'll be super high levelled in really not that much time.
They definitely can be a chore if you're not enjoying it though
It's all last ending bits for me this weekend:
King's Quest chapter 1
Gorogoa
SteamWorld Heist
Then deciding whether to ace the trophies too.
Getting through the backlog before the Sep-Nov releases. Assassins Creed Origins, Guacamelee 2 and trying to finish Yakuza 0 so I can start Yakuza 6. Great series. Enjoy the weekend gamers!
I WOULD be playing my Lord of the Rings Special Extended DVD Edition Collection, but my PS4 Pro no longer reads it for whatever reason. Pissed. Off. My discs are pristine fyi.
Okami HD. Absolutely love it. I tried playing it on every system before and now I finally have invested myself and regret not doing it sooner.
Everyone playing hollow knight...can't wait for that on ps4.
@RedMan33 honestly try finding someone for co-op. They weren’t as bad as I was expecting and I was only pretty good and not great at the game.
As for me, Overwatch, Dead by Daylight, and for some reason, I’ve gotten hooked on Enter the Gungeon. I also need to beat AC Origins before Spider-Man comes out.
I finished Rise of the Tomb Raider last night and played some Doom (both on GamePass) but my free trial ran out so I decided to play Ni No Kuni II tonight. My last save was from April 19...the night before God of War released. I'm in chapter 7 (out of 9 I think?) so hopefully I'll wrap up another game before I put on that Spidey suit.
Already half way through God of War (I think it is half way) so going to continue that along with AC Origins. Might mix in some Mafia 3 & The Witcher 3.
Nearly gave up on my Vita the other day and almost sold it. Haven't been able to find any good games for it in a looooooong time. But I had completely forgotten about remote play! So I've been playing watchdogs (been in my backlog for years!) on the Vita and kinda enjoying it. Which is funny because I hated it on the PS4...
Just platinumed shenmue so moving on to 2 while mixing in some Guacamelee 2 and yakuza 0
Slowly going through the undead masses in the enhanced edition of Dying Light. Pretty solid game I must say. Had zero expectations and was pleasantly surprised.
After that I'll finally start Doom.
I also have downloaded Observer from the current sale and I'm having a hard time telling myself not to start it before finishing the aforementioned.
Onto the final showdown on ps vita: chaos;child. Loving it. Been playing for months. Will move onto rainbow skies next.
Football manager 2018 on switch.
@roe it's not that there hard that it's just a grind to get into where you need to be was having trouble getting the bits I needed for the next chalice, started to do my head
@ztpayne7 it's not that it's hard just that it's a grind to find the things I need for the next chalice
I bought lots of new furniture, and have been assembling the new ones and disassembling the old ones. No more old, big, and and heavy furniture for me. They are too annoying and frustrating to get rid of. So I haven't had much time over for gaming. Today though, on Sunday, I'll hopefully have time for something really relaxing, and will probably continue with Shift Quantum and Owlboy on the PS4 and perhaps some American Truck on PC.
Been playing through the Gears of War games for the 1st time over the past couple of weeks, have completed 1 - 4 & now just finishing off with Judgement - it's definitely........different, I'll give it that (but as it was a free download I can't really complain).
@LaNooch1978 only Fellowship
Persona Q and Divinity Original Sin. Killing some time before Yakuza Kiwami 2.
@RedMan33 Yea the grinding can get repetitive and feel like a chore. Good luck with Watch Dog of the Old Lords and Defiled Amygdala.
@TheArt I stopped trying a while ago, the grind isn't something I was enjoying
