Square Enix is surely setting a new record here, no? The publisher’s dropping Shadow of the Tomb Raider trailers like they’re fast going out of fashion, and here’s another seven minute clip detailing how seasoned protagonist Lara Croft can use the jungle to her advantage. In the video she uses a ton of techniques to pick off her prey, from poisoned arrows to rope traps and more.

Yeah, they are very much coming across like "look at me". If they wanted more people to pay attention they should have picked a better release date.
I mean don't get me wrong I will be getting the game but it's going to have to wait.
there is a point where you just show to much of the game.
this is that point.
Square is like "Spider-Who? Spyro the what? Dragons Quest 33?
Never heard of 'em. But did you hear about Shadow of the Tomb Raider?"
I'm hyped to play it, but man, I don't think we need a new trailer every other day for the third entry in a series. If you played the first two, you're going to know what to expect.
I dunno. I just don't watch them tbh.
Considering the very busy release period and how poorly the last two sold (in Square's eyes), they kind of need to.
Glad they do a full playthrough before release
I'll defo be getting this at some point but it's all about Red Dead Redemption 2 for me innit. Everything else is back of the queue.
They must be worried that it won't sell coming a week after Spiderman but it's coming across as desperate now.
Well I for one like the additional footage. The part where she bombs those people with the gas tank was funny/badass lol. This made me more hyped for the game, honestly...
I just don't understand why this had to be a September release?
Are those quarterly targets so important, that you'll kill off one of gaming's most iconic franchises, Square?
I'll get it once it's bargain bin material. There's just so many bigger and better games coming for me.
I think Lara might be afraid of spiders.
@Fight_Teza_Fight That's exactly it, publishers don't sit on their games anymore and wait for a better time to lauch. Instead it has to be out the door straight away.
Yeah I stopped watching the trailers/footage a while ago. I'm going to get it on release as I've always been a fan and thoroughly enjoyed the recent 2. But with Spider-man coming out first it will have to wait until I finish that. If Spider-man is a big game and lasts until Red Dead 2 it might be next year before I actually play it.
Also not watching (or particularly interested, unfortunately) but I don't mind them trying to give it an extra push in the media and on YouTube.
Nobody's gonna not buy it because "there's been too many trailers for it" so even though it might seem a bit excessive to us, it's worth it for them.
I'MMA KEEP IT REAL WITCHU CHIEF!!!!!!
Spider-Man looks alot better than this.
I think I'll buy this game later, when "game of the year" version released, after seeing all the dlc there's no way I'm buying this day one.
This game will sell way better if it released this month rather than next month.
@wiiware I guarantee this game will have a a GOTY/Complete Edition style release 1-2 years later, they did the same thing with 2013 reboot and Rise.
@wiiware I'm not sure how it would work (and it's probably unlikely) but it would be kinda cool if in a year or so they release all of the recent Tomb Raider games together as a trilogy.
I'd potentially jump on board for that I reckon.
So does Lara finally have sex with Nathan Drake in this one?
To be fair, Spider-Man has been gushing footage over recent weeks as well. Not to this extent I don’t think, but between the E3 gameplay and all the GameInformer stories and released video of gameplay, I feel like maybe both games are vying for press and hype. And now the big dog Red Dead has just started warming up with releasing gameplay footage. Personally, I like seeing it, but it can definitely get too much if they don’t calm down.
If I was a marketing director for Square Enix, I’d do a video where I show all this awesome gameplay of Lara shooting enemies, hiding in the shadows, and stringing up dudes in the trees, — then I’d end the montage with footage showing Lara’s boots stepping and squashing a spider. Man that would be awesome.
@adf86 Yep and Square are a prime example of that.
Dragon Quest XI will launch as a PS4 console exclusive on the 4th September, 3 days ahead of arguably the biggest PS exclusive this year in Spider-Man and 10 days ahead of their very own flag-ship western IP in Tomb Raider.
Genius Square Enix.
This gameplay footage was all shown at E3 so it's not new stuff they keep showing. I knew it looked familiar for some reason.
@roe I already have tomb raider 1 & rotr for ps4, I want a complete edition of tomb raider 2018 like ps4 version of rise of tomb raider (that game released completely with all of the dlc on ps4).
@ToddlerNaruto Yeah, this.
@Fight_Teza_Fight ikr like how they rushed FF15 and FF7 remake....
@Deadlyblack I really hope they're not in the dark about the release of Dragon Quest XI since that's one of their games too.
@Fight_Teza_Fight It's about genre overlap. Spiderman is a super mainstream, action game, DQXI is a niche JRPG. There's more overlap with TR and SM but were comparing crazy comic game with more grounded Indiana Jones type stuff.
Might just buy it for peanuts 12 months after release, seeing as though PS4 owners were shafted by Square Enix on the last one. Hope it does well for Crystal Dynamics and Eidos though,
I've got nothing against their work.
