Yakuza 3, as well as 4 and 5, are set to receive PS4 remasters in Japan, and these new screenshots show off what we can expect when they eventually make their way to the West. While it's a step up from the original release, it's looking a little rough around the edges, but we doubt Yakuza fans will be concerned about that - the idea of having all the mainline games on one machine is an exciting prospect in itself, no matter how they look. In the screenshots, we can see snaps of Kaz engaging in various mini games, such as karaoke, darts, and pool.
Yakuza 3 launches on PS4 in Japan in just a few days, and while a Western release is all but certain, no date has been announced.
What do you think of Yakuza 3's remaster? Will you be playing 3, 4, and 5 when they eventually launch on PS4, or is that Yakuza overload? Do your best Kiryu scowl in the comments below.

Eh, it doesn’t look too bad. It’s hard to tell from the screenshot, but Kiryu is certainly recognizable.
In my opinion all of the Yakuza games from PS3 still look good so for me no need to upgrade
Yakuza 3 is the first game in the series that I played. It all started with this game. Been a fan ever since.
I can't wait to get the whole series on PS4.
I thought they would use the new engine on all the games now??? Weird choice but it's probably less expensive...
@shonenjump86 yeah mine too. And for that reason it is my favourite (although not played 2 or 6 yet).
@Rob_230 I’m currently playing 6 at the moment. Enjoining it and trying to get in much time for it before Kiwami 2 comes out.
Well it's same engine like Yakuza 0 and Kiwami 1. So I think there is no need for full remaster like Yakuza 1 and 2. Up res will do just fine.
If they release it in the west I hope it will be the full release and not cut like the PS3 version. Gives an incentive for PS3 owners of the game to upgrade.
Yakuza 3 has the weakest story IMO
As long as the deleted contents are there and properly translated without any censorship, Im more than happy to get them all finally in one console.
These remasters kinda make me wish that Kiwami 2 was made on the older engine for consistency's sake (Fist of the North Star is using it despite coming after Kiwami 2). Not a huge deal though.
Im a newcomer to the Yakuza series thanks to the superbestfriendsplay and i cannot wait to experience all of these.
The Yakuza 5 remaster is the only one I'm interested in.
@GKO900 I recently finished playing 4 on PS3. I was surprised at how nice the character models look. They look detailed and soft. I think 4 would look great remastered if they just bump the resolution up to make the game world less blurry.
I got 4 during a sale because it was cheap and we got 5 from PS+, but that was back when we didn't have any Yakuza games on PS4. After finishing 4, I decided to play Yakuza 0 on PS4, so I'm not sure if I'll ever get to playing 5 on PS3 or just wait for the remaster and play that. And of course, we've got Yakuza 6 on PS4, but I don't think I'll play that for a long time...
@GodOfPie Well to me the only ones that benefit from the remaster are 1 and 2 but the ones from PS3 are not bad looking, but in a way if you wait and get 5 on PS4 you'll be supporting the series
