Everyone knows that the best way to do horror is to mix idyllic scenery with deadly enemies, and Days Gone is doing exactly that in its key art. The image shows protagonist Deacon St John in the centre, chilling out next to his motorcycle, as the sprawling Oregon countryside surrounds him. But lying in front of him are three dead bodies, and behind him… Well, this ain’t no place for a picnic.
It’s a nice piece of art that pretty much encapsulates everything that the game is about: motorcycles, murder, and gigantic hordes of undead enemies. It’ll be interesting to see if this ends up being used for the box art, or if the platform holder has other plans for the cover. The exclusive’s actually not that far away now: it’s due out on 22nd February.

Looks great! Really looking forward to this game.
Makes me wonder what the box art will be like.
Back facing towards the camera looking out on mountains with freakers in the distance and his motorcycle beside him? Please don't be cheesy like that.
Awesome artwork, can't wait to play the game.
@Octane You mean this?
yeah.that will be a nice box art.word up son
'encapsulates everything that the game is about'
Indeed. It reminds me of the E3 first gameplay reveal, when Deacon is on the roof then you see all the freakers and you think its over but Deacon keeps shouting 'Come on!' . That gave me goosebumps. Its what the game is about. Deacon never gives up and I m really interested in his story.
I bet we ll get to play as Sarah in a few flashbacks tell us how he got there and why he is this way.
Probably going to get some 'outrage', from people who think that sounds too much like TLOU though haha
I’m not feelin’ it.
They’re going to have to do more than this to get my interest in this game.
@Th3solution
I think it's definitely a game that's not for everyone. I see you got a nice Bloodborne gif so you probably understand. 'the world comes for you'
Looks awesome!!
I really hope this ends up being good. We need more games with zombies.....
@JJ2 Lol, yeah and the funny thing was Bloodborne didn’t interest me either until they gave it away for free on PS Plus. Then I played it and actually loved it. If they gave Days Gone away for free it would most definitely pique my interest!
But joking aside, I think what they really need to show is how the game is going to set itself apart from the other ‘third person narrative driven action shooters set in a post apocalyptic world with zombies.’ I think we’ve all played a few of those. Perhaps the narrative will be the hook or perhaps riding and fixing motorcycles will. Or perhaps this immersive problem solving way to deal with freaker hordes they are touting will be what draws gamers interest. But unfortunately, in the busy release window it’s in, this game has to set itself apart convincingly to survive. At least that’s my opinion. Deacon St.John is not a known commodity like Spider-Man. Fair or not, he won’t sell a game by himself on the merits of his interesting personality or back story. Here’s hoping the game is not only good and brings something new to the table, but gets the marketing it needs to bring it to the forefront in a very busy February.
Can someone please name me another 3rd person, open world, action, story driven game with 300+ zombie (freakers) horde, looking and running better in Unreal Engine 4?
I think it has shown more than enough to set itself apart which is why I kind of shake my head when I hear people say it looks generic.
The other 3 games set to release on the same day are Crackdown 3, Anthem and Metro Exodus. I don't really see any of these affecting Days Gone.
Crackdown 3 is an xbox "exclusive" and will likely get delayed, Anthem is more multiplayer focused with a story and Metro Exodus is a story driven first person survival/stealth shooter.
I'm kind've glad this got pushed to the first half of 2018. There's alot of good stuff coming out right now, so it stands more of a chance releasing in Feb, except for Anthem and Metro releasing on the same day
@Th3solution
To be honest my main concern is I can't wait for it. If some people aren't interested its too bad haha
@Cordeceps
You forgot *with a bike.
@Cordeceps @JJ2 Yeah, I definitely am man enough to admit that I may be misjudging the game. I haven’t seen a ton of gameplay - maybe one or two videos and I read the Game Informer cover story a couple months ago. So it may be much more than meets the eye. The subject matter simply doesn’t seem interesting to me but I am surely in the minority, and if so it will sell like hot cakes. And if the marketing machine ramps up then I may jump on board in a few months, but not yet. My main reason I even follow the game is because it is one of the big PlayStation exclusives and those are typically games I enjoy and like to support if possible.
@Cordeceps “The other 3 games set to release on the same day are Crackdown 3, Anthem and Metro Exodus. I don't really see any of these affecting Days Gone.”
This is true and you make a valid point.
Yet not on the same day, but within a month of release there is Devil May Cry 5, The Division 2, Resident Evil 2, Kingdom Hearts 3, and Sekiro.
Big games coming out a couple weeks before or after a game probably won’t affect day one sales as much as they probably will affect longevity on the sales charts, and therefore long term sales. Maybe. It’s all conjecture at this point.
@Th3solution All good mate, my response wasn't really directed at you more so the general comments I have seen on the game since it was announced, in regards to the generic comment.
Nothing wrong if its a game that simply doesn't interest you for what ever reason, we all have different tastes.
No doubt it would have helped if it had a quieter window release but I think it also needs a good space between Last of Us 2, so don't think they could push it back to maybe May or June because from what I am hearing that is when Last of Us 2 could be released but its all a guessing game at the moment.
I think it will do well, not great but solid in the sales, metacritic scores I am a bit worried about, I'm thinking low 70s at the worst, mid 80s the highest, probaly sit in the middle around 76.
Not that scores really should matter, all it really does is encourage the console war garbage.
@JJ2 True, my bad.
This game is going be great.
@Cordeceps last of us 2 isn't probably come out 2019 at less it's release late 2019. I personally think last of us 2 will end up releasing early 2020.
@Cordeceps No worries. The game will be good. Very few AAA PS exclusives are not at least good and most are excellent. And I’ll probably play it, if I can ever get my backlog under control. (And here I bought three games this week and tempted to buy a fourth. 😔 I feel the shame.)
Awesome username by the way. I am a big Naughty Dog fan including TLoU. (In that case it was the strong narrative that attracted me to the game, rather than the proposition of fighting infected undead humans) — I’m feeling TLoU 2 release late 2019. Like a year from now. Maybe October. 🤔
@Th3solution I can't really see sony releasing last of us 2 in the business fall I think it might end up releasing February or March of 2020. because I think ghost of tsushima will release summer 2019 or close to the summer.
