Media Molecule is taking its sweet time with the highly ambitious upcoming game, Dreams. The developer has been promising PS4 players a beta test for a considerable time, but as we near the tail end of 2018, it's looking less and less likely that we'll get to sample the game's creative tools for ourselves anytime soon. However, Communications Manager Abbie Heppe reiterated during a PAX West panel that the beta is coming in 2018.
Speaking of the panel, we've embedded it above, and it's worth a watch if you get the chance. A couple of designers from the studio create a large sci-fi level from simple pre-made parts, and it's typically effective stuff. Dreams continues to look mightily impressive, and we really can't wait to try it for ourselves. Fingers crossed the beta really can launch within the next couple of months.

Can't wait till it launches on PS5.
Canβt wait! Iβm not into betas, but Dreams will be special.
Yeah, this is impressive stuff alright. I just skimmed the video, but I canβt help but think that Mm has gone over the top with this project. It will be interesting to see if it sells. Itβs just so unique and there isnβt anything like it thatβs been done before. At least not on this scale.
Cool, can't wait for it to come out in 2019.
Really hope they pull this off.
Not my type of game but I really do hope this delivers for those excited about it. Seems like it's been forever since it was first revealed hope it comes together soon!
Ooo, can't wait to give it a go.
One thing I've been wondering, and I dont think I've ever saw anyone comment on this is, I wonder how big of a game a person can make? Will they just be short games consisting of a few levels, or could a person make 50 hour open world rpg?

The game, like LBP has a thermometer bar that allows you to add as much content to a level as you want. However, once the bar is 100% you cannot add any more assets, animation, or logic.
So doing a open world would have to be limited. You could get around this limitation by having loading screens between levels. Each level/space has its own thermometer.
Hope that helps.
