You’re probably familiar with the story involving the marriage proposal in Marvel’s Spider-Man by now, but if you’re not, you may want to read our full article on the awkward matter through here. Obviously the tale of Tyler Schultz and his ex-belle to be has not escaped developer Insomniac Games’ attention either – and it’s actually offered to patch out the Easter egg in the release.
“[Art director] Jacinda [Chew] and I were talking last night about getting it changed,” wrote community director James Stevenson on ResetEra. “Feel bad for him.” Whether or not the text will get changed or removed remains to be seen, but we’re sure Schultz could come up with a few choice words for his former other-half. While we wait for a resolution you can find more Marvel’s Spider-Man Easter eggs through the link.

Oh, I'd find a few choice words for her, all right. And the backstabbing bruh man too. Said words would raise the ESRB rating from 'Teen' to a firm 'Adults Only'. But of course Sony/Insomniac wouldn't do that, we wouldn't want to throw millions in marketing and sales out the window.
Edit: read the story Sammy linked to below for the other side of the story and make up your own mind.
It's probably worth mentioning that Madison has commented on all this and paints a different picture of the whole scenario: https://www.houstonpress.com/arts/the-spider-man-proposal-easter-egg-has-a-darker-side-10842784
I think this would probably be best for all parties if it just gets patched out. It's a bummer all around.
while it's sad what happened between them i think they should just remove the name and leave the "will you marry me" part, that way anyone who wants to use it can use it
How do you say "Marketing" in English?
@get2sammyb
That doesn't mean the other side of the story is immaculate. I don't really care but this gamergate reference is tickling my spider senses. I. E. Obviously unnecessary and possibly agenda like or at least off topic reference.
I don't trust either side's story after reading them both. Sounds like a couple of young adults that didn't know how to work on their relationship properly and didn't have any help from their parents.
"Insert marriage proposal here."
@DLB3 what did she say, i don't click random links to pages i don't know so i didn't read what was said
@DLB3 😂
I hate to be that guy, but after many years working on marketing I feel this accident is 90% marketing, 10% a real and sad story, basically self-marketing for the two involved. In both cases, who cares? Bloodborne is still the best PS4 exclusive ever! 😏
@DLB3 Taylor on the brain as always.
@FullbringIchigo She just basically said that the relationship wasn't perfect, the guy thought proposing would put a band aid on their problems, and she wasn't particularly keen on it being in a game to begin with.
@get2sammyb I know it was a nice idea but honestly maybe Insomniac should have done a bit more research before just taking a request from Twitter. I could understand if the guy knew someone at Insomniac personally but to just take a request blindly without checking into it. It wouldnt have come to this.
Yeah... Sounds like someone needs to clean their room.
Honestly though, there are three sides to every story like this. He said, she said, and the truth.
Better she left before the marriage. Divorces are messy, especially with kids involved. Dude dodged a bullet if you ask me. Remove the lettering on the sign. Move on asap.
Easy fix, just swap it out for an actual film title, such as 'O Brother Where Art Thou?'
@get2sammyb
What would be the odds of me getting an easter egg like this on this site?
@Tasuki Probably. I think it's probably one of those where it was well intentioned but has unfortunately gone awry. It's a shame.
@Xaessya How do you know there isn't already an Xaessya Easter egg on the site and it just hasn't been found yet?
@get2sammyb
The hunt is on!
Just need to check every article from now to 2013.
@get2sammyb will you marry me?
@Fandabidozi Only if you ask nicely.
@Tasuki But how could Insomniac check their relationship was legit without spoiling the surprise proposal? Either way I don’t think Insomniac will be taking any proposal requests of any kind to put in their games ever again.
Now the video has been removed for violating youtubes terms of service? I didn't see it, but it seems strange.
Insomniac should just replace it with pun movie titles based on their previous games like Ratchet & Clank & Resistance.
They're both Sony properties so shouldn't be any red tape.
Drawing a blank though on what puns they could do!!
I think the moral of this story is other people relationship, especially on the internet, is not our business.
