There’s just seven days until Marvel’s Spider-Man deploys, so what will you be playing to keep yourself occupied in the meantime? That’s the question we’re presenting in your regularly scheduled WAYP, so let’s get straight into it.

This week I’ve found myself doting over Naruto to Boruto Shinobi Strikers while trying to balance the newest Nano Cola event in Overwatch. I’ve got to get that new skin and all of these amazing sprays!

Tucking into some Monster Hunter: World on my downtime this weekend. Having never touched a Monster Hunter game before I’ve been pre-warned on just how challenging the combat can be. Not sure if I should be excited or concerned at this point!

I plan to read the ten page The Making of Daytona USA cover feature in the latest Issue 184 of Retro Gamer magazine, and then set up my PS3 for a time trial race around the Dinosaur Canyon advanced circuit, while listening to Takenobu Mitsuyoshi sing Let's Go Away as a nostalgic earworm to reminisce about 1994.

This weekend I'll be playing through visual novel, Punch Line. If the main character gets too excited then he falls unconscious and the whole of the human race will become extinct. So I will be doing my upmost to not stare at ladies' knickers (in the game). If the world does happen to end over the weekend then you'll know that I've failed.

As well as taking a trip to Donut County this weekend, I'll be making one last effort to be hooked by Destiny 2 before the Forsaken expansion comes out. For saying how obsessed I was with the original, that's not something I'd expect to be saying had you told me a year ago. [You have the Platinum, Liam! - Ed]

Lots and lots of Dead Space. I’m shocked that it’s taken me so long to get into this trilogy, even for its age it’s still a genuinely scary game and it’s very engaging. Sure, it’s jumpscares may be a tad predictable now but it’s got something special about it.

This weekend I will be continuing with Octopath Traveler on the Switch. It's been a long time since an RPG has hooked me like this. I will also be going old school as I play some NES favourites on the NES Classic.
What are you playing this weekend? Anything you're hoping to polish off before Spider-Man swings by? Let us know in the comments section below.

I am playing "Add a new external 4TB HDD to my PS4 and see how much digital content I can cram into it."
I'm doing it alphabetically and I'm up to the letter 'D' with 2.7TB remaining.
Yakuza Kiwami 2. Never played the original release of Yakuza 2 because I had moved onto newer consoles by the time it came out, heard great things though and so far it's what I'd expect. Typical fun and satisfying combat, crazy story and characters and tons of additional side content to get lost in.
I've spent a lot of time playing Darkest Dungeon on the Vita recently. And playing it a bit on the PS4 as well. Very entertaining once you get into it. Really fun challenge and feels so rewarding when you take down a boss.
I'm working but hope to get a bit of time with Surviving Mars. I've got a sustainable colony and everything!
This weekend more/less the same as past weeks. Still going through God of War & it is still surprises me (wow).
Along with some AC Origins.
Also just bought Yakuza 0 so might start playing it as well.
Too little gaming time tbh.
I'm still absolutely loving Warhammer 40k: Inquisitor - Martyr. I had Divinity: Original Sin 2 preordered for a while but everytime I boot up my PS4 I can't resist playing Martyr instead. Soooo good.
Whats happening to me, I don't like fortnite when I play it on ps4, same when I play it on switch, but I play it on my smartphone and I'm hooked. Now I installing it again on switch and ps4. I have to replay my level 7 characters because my exclusive skin is on my phone account though, now I'm back to level 2.
It's weird that I can't choose my character though, it seems I have to buy character with skin included rather than choose character and buying accesories for it.
Also playing guacamelee 2, this game is hilarious lol.
@FantasyMeister
It’s a great game I played last year. Although I left the multiplayer game of the moment for me on the internal hard drive as I thought it would run quicker. Don’t think it makes any difference. I enjoyed tiring off the limit of games on the homes screen then just scrolling through hundreds of games
Yeah Dead Space is the nuts!
@LaNooch1978 just go digital bro, it's the future!!
I'm playing Divinity OS2 and Dirt Rally 4 as much as I can. My eye is inflamed and I'm on hourly drops, my pupils are all over the place and I can't tell if I'm coming or going 😂
@1W1NG3D4NG3L congrats!
Nothing because i sliced my left hand open yesterday in the garden and now it's all bandaged up and i can't hold a controller properly
FFIX must be a fair bit through as my group are split up to place mirrors in different locations around the map, finished Gravity Rush 2 last night, what a game i really hope we get a 3rd one on PS5!
I’m going to try to work through all the destiny 2 single player content, played nicely and no grinding needed ... so far
@MightyDemon82 that mirror bit is a bit of a drag. What do you think of the game in general though? It's one of my all time favourites.
@FullbringIchigo
Maybe try one of those teltale games we got on ps plus. Or have a beer watch some great movies go to the pub. Nothing lost really just have a different great weekend
@gingerfrog well i don't drink anymore, 9 years sober now ^_^
also my PS+ ran out a few weeks ago and i have yet to renew it
but a film sound good, Amazon dispatched Avengers: Infinity War yesterday and i ave still yet to watch Black Panther so i might stick that on so i'm all caught up
@kyleforrester87 really enjoying it, for it's time it certainly looks great and the story is good too!
I'm right at the save point at the final boss, so I'm finally going to finish Ni No Kuni 2! I think I started playing it mid-July.
This is why I don't care for playing RPGs during the summer.
Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. Both with the 8bitdo bluetooth SNES controller, which looks and feels almost identical to the real thing!
@Deadlyblack i need to do a load of skirmishes before i can finish the game bit i'll get to it soon!
Yakuza Kiwama 2 yaaaaaassss
I bought Yakuza Kiwami 2 yesterday, but I still wanna get more time with 6. Other than that, on PS4 Street Fighter V, and maybe King of Fighters 14.
Switch- Super Mario Odyssey and some Neo Geo games.
@1W1NG3D4NG3L Wow, congratulations!
@Rebecca
The first Dead Space game is still my favourite, I think it has the best atmosphere and pacing. I like all three games in their own way though.
I am taking advantage of the Game Pass deal and finishing off Gears of War 3 and will then move on to four - after the 112 GB has finished downloading!!! Any other time, I might do a bit of Skyrim on Switch or continue my agonisingly slow play through of Hollow Knight.
Destiny 2. Even though I'm generally just doing the same things in missions, I'm enjoying my time with it. I also decided to give MGSV TPP one more crack last week and it's really grown on me. I've just gotten Quiet to join on missions and she's an awesome scout. It still doesn't feel like a typical MGS game but it is a good game.
MotoGP 18, Gran Turismo Sport, Shikhondo and Owlboy.
While I enjoy Owlboy a great deal, the combat can be very annoying. Whenever you get hit I feel you get punished twice: once from the actual damage to your health, and then from the stun effect that pushes you back. The problem is not just the stun itself, it's confusing to see where you character is on the screen once you get hit.
@Rudy_Manchego 112 GB?, jeez
and people say they want the next gen to be digital only
We are getting so close to Spider-Man that I'm having a hard time getting into anything.
@1W1NG3D4NG3L Congratulations man, enjoy your new bundle of joy, better than any console bundle ever.
Still Playing rise of the tomb raider and Back to the future. With a little slime rancher on the side.
Been doing a 1999 mode replay of BioShock Infinite and should have that finished today. It's odd, it seems harder than when I did it on the 360. Perhaps my skills have declined. 😂 It is interesting how some of the themes of the story are even more relevant today than they were in 2013.
Also continuing with Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm. I've completed two story arcs now. I'm really enjoying this game.
On handheld I've added yet another game to the rotation - Severed on the Vita. I just fancied something with a more laid-back pace as I've not been very well this week and it is something to play in little bursts. The combat has a lot more depth than you would initially think. I really like the presentation and desolate atmosphere.
Am currently playing Far Cry 5, God of War and Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Looking forward to getting my hands on Dragon Quest XI and Spiderman this coming week.
Maybe I will try Destiny 2 and finally see what the series is about. I never played Destiny before.
I finished Devil May Cry trilogy and the fourth game, now I can play the fifth game.
About Spider-Man, I had the same feeling with God of War before the release, can't wait to play this masterpiece.
Whaaat?!?! I wanna play Punch Line! I guess I’ll just have to wait for the official September 25 release here in the U.S....
Hope to play some more Horizon Zero Dawn. About to polish off the last cauldron. But I’m hampered by having to do some travel for Labor Day weekend. ...I think that’s why I dreamed last night that someone stole my PS4. A real nightmare!
Still making slow but gradual progress in Nier Automata. I've also started Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked, which I didn't really have high expectations for but so far it's better then I thought it would be.
I've also been in the mood for some older games lately. So I may also play a little bit more of Professor Layton and the Curious Village and the first Rayman game, and maybe also start Etrian Odyssey 1 this weekend.
@FullbringIchigo Yeah I know - I know it is full of cinematics and is 4k and all that but for me it's a 10 hour game at 112 gb and I spent over 100 hours on Breath of the Wild and it's a 14gb game. Before anyone points out the difference, I do know but I think that size is pretty excessive.
I'm at an anime convention this weekend. Not too much time for gaming.
Fun fact, in the two days I've been here so far, I've already seen like six people dressed as advanced suit Spider-Man.
resonance of fate.hardest and most addictive rpgs ever.gun blazing thrilling fun.amazing graphics.man thank god i play this game.its a hidden gem with style💚❤💖.word up son
I'm still battling my way through Xenoblade Chronicles 2.An amazing rpg that has so much content it's unreal.At the moment instead of just getting on with the story I'm grinding my way through the challenge mode just so I can give the girls better costumes...(and swimsuits 👙)
Stardew Valley is also getting a look in but to be honest I feel like I've done nearly everything now so it's not holding my interest as much.
On Ps4 I'm still sticking with Atelia Sophie...(although that will change on tuesday when Dragon Quest XI releases!).
MY WIFE WILL BE OUTTA TOWN ALL WEEKEND for the first time in over 3 years and I wanna play some deep single-player game that only so I can play uninterrupted for 8+ hours like I could “back in the day.” Problem is....I don’t know what to play! It’s gotta be 10-12 hours long to beat since that’s all the time I have, so there’s that too....aaaugghh!!! So much pressure.
I’ll probably just end up playing Spacelords and Street Fighter V as usual...
EDIT: now I have to go with her
@FullbringIchigo digital only is and will always be crap.
Yakuza 0, metroid prime 2 echoes (physical)
And final fantasy VII (physical)
Monster Hunter till Spiderman comes out 😊✌🏾
@1W1NG3D4NG3L Congrats, mate!!!
About halfway through uncharted 3, after that uncharted 4. Also started playing no man's sky again. May play some ratchet and clank also.
@keihtg
I really enjoyed the uncharted lost legacy the other week, that should fit in nice
I'm replaying Dead Space on the PS3, on hard mode this time for added spice.
Hollow Knight on Switch. Played a few hours last night and a couple more this morning. I'm hoping i can find some time to play some more Fire Pro Wrestling World. I tried to make a wrestler that looks like Incineroar from the Pokemon games. It's body looks okay, but I need to fix the face and set its moves. I'm already thinking about making Emboar and Machoke (both also from Pokemon).
Zelda botw, just heading to hyrule castle!
Grinding out that god forsaken Bloodlust trophy in FFIX using remote play on a laptop while playing Warioware Gold on 3DS. Both games highly recommended despite FFIX's brutal trophy list. Warioware even has it's own challenge list which makes it even more fun.
Need to clear a 50Gb game to make space for Spidey... Uncharted Lost Legacy is the shorter one installed, so I’ll play this and maybe a little Firewall and The Messenger in between!
Yakuza Zero, for it's current price, thought I might finally give it a shot. That and just about to Plat Mafia 3 also.
So decided to go ahead and pick up shovel knight. Seems great so far. Wasn't expecting it to be as deep as it is.
Dead Cells, la la le loo lo (it's so fun song)
and inching along in King's Quest chapter 2.
Dragged back into the depths of Fallout 4, I will complete it this time around. But Dragon Quest is out soon.................so...................
god of war NG+, Arkham Knight (preparing for spider-man)
I'll be playing at going go work this weekend. Just the same as last weekend. And every 2 out of 3 weekends😟
Fortunately next week is my 1 off. Can you guess what I'll be playing then?🤔
Yakuza Kiwami 2.
The writing is so good! Absolutely gripping.
@beemo
Close only without the Mount Rushmore part as it's a very long way from the U.K.
I finished Odin Sphere but there are some things I missed. I really have to do a hell of a lot of reading for school so I think that's what I'm going to end up doing.
Nothing yet but I am hoping to beat Rise of the Tomb Raider by Tuesday night...sadly I don't see that happening with my busy weekend schedule.
I'll have to pause on playing Spider-Man for a week, since I know I won't go back to Tomb Raider until after I beat Spider-Man XD.
@Deadlyblack You're right, I usually play JRPGs during the winter, when it's freezing outside and you can sit inside all cosy grinding for hours on end.
@nessisonett It's true, haha.
My job is a lot slower during the winter months, so I have a lot more free time.
