Over the last few years Japanese publishers in general have gotten a lot better at localising their games in a more timely manner. It's still far from perfect, with recent titles like Dragon Quest XI coming to mind, but advancements have certainly been made this generation.
That said, SEGA seems to know that there's room for further improvement, and it's looking to strengthen its localisation efforts going forward. In a new general report from the company, it says that one of its goals for the future is to ensure simultaneous worldwide release dates for its games. Obviously this isn't as easy as it may sound, with SEGA-published titles like Yakuza and Persona needing a lot of translation work, but it's nice to see SEGA thinking ahead.
As this generation has progressed, Japanese publishes have become more and more attentive to their Western audiences. There's no denying that the console market in Japan has shrunk considerably over the last decade or so, but with the PlayStation 4 in particular still setting the Western world alight, it makes sense for the likes of Square Enix, Bandai Namco, Capcom, Koei Tecmo, and SEGA to shift their focus. And if that means we get more great Japanese games heading our way, we're not complaining.

Sweet. I was excited extra so at first before I realized this wasn't a Persona article though.
Since most of japanese games sold better on worldwide market it's time for japanese publishers to think globally, persona 5 and dragon quest 11 will get a lot more hype if the game launch globally day one, like ff15 and monhun world.
Good because the likes of Persona 5 and Yakuza 0 are comfortably amongst the very best games I've played on PS4, so the quicker we get them the better
Good. The wait for the persona endless night collection has been. Well endless! Global release schedules will only benefit japanese companies in the long run
I'd prefer to wait if it meant games getting better localisation and features, like the added voice overs in Dragon Quest XI.
Get with the remaster of Skies of Arcadia Legends surly the Nintendo GameCube license has expired now. And how about a sequel Skies 2 it was a gem of a RPG you know it was Sega but again you continue to deny the west games they want. Heck even Phantasy Star Online 3 didn't even make it
I used to really hate SEGA (mostly cause of them cancelling Yakuza in the west after Dead Souls failure). But over the last few years they have been killing it. Listening to fans and taking risks. And it all seems to be paying off, big time.
Glad to see they are trying to push even harder now, as long as it means the localization doesn't take a hit like NISA. And hopefully other publishers will try to follow them.
@Rawzuka to think Yakuza is now performing very strongly in the west! I couldn't be happier.
give me condemned 3.bloodshot was amazing.and binary domain 2.word up son
and a new shinobi game.the ps2 shinobi game was legendary.word up son
Good. Hopefully means there won't be a huge gap between the Japanese and Western releases of SMT V.
Thinking Sega will keep their words on this HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH.
Yeah this is excellent news!! I assume alot of their decision to do this stems from the multiple survey's that SEGA has been conducting after their major titles release. For instance, I know I personally have mentioned how great better and quicker localization efforts would benefit us as fans in the last 2 Yakuza games released. And it appears that Sega is listening, so hats off to you guys at SEGA!!
@playstation1995 absolutely agree on binary domain 2 and a new shinobi. I'm excited for Sega's newly found confidence!
About time I'd love to have worldwide releases for Sega games.
