Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 toppled Red Dead Redemption 2 in the October 2018 PlayStation Store sales charts – but the latter only had a few days of tracking. Activision’s first-person shooter emerged victorious on both sides of the pond, while Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and FIFA 19 traded third and fourth position in North America and Europe as well. Battlefield 1 finished fifth in each region, too.
It means that Marvel’s Spider-Man “slumped” to sixth in North America and seventh in Europe, while NBA 2K19 remained in the top ten in the States – it couldn’t make the top twenty in the Old World. Elsewhere, excellent virtual reality platformer Astro Bot Rescue Mission conquered the PlayStation VR charts in both territories, while Fortnite continued to dominate the free-to-play and DLC categories.
You can browse the full list of October 2018 PS Store best sellers for North America and Europe through the respective links, but be sure to let us know what you picked up from the digital storefront in the comments section below.

Kinda surprised, especially after hearing Red Dead 2 Broke opening weekend records and only surprised by GTA 5.
But as you pointed out, it had less days in October. I'd be curious to see the end of the year ranking. Though i'm sure both Black Ops 4 and Red Dead 2 will be in the top two spots regardless.
Also i'm really happy with how successful Red Dead Redemption 2 has been. It means single player experiences are not dead and can still make alot of money.
@Ryumoau single player games surely are still alive and well. And I am as happy as you about it.
Half of the top 20 are single player:
Red Dead Redemption 2
Assassin’s Creed: Oddysey
Grand Theft Auto V
Marvel’s Spider Man
God of War
The Last of Us Remastered
Horizon Zero Dawn
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Detroit: Become Human
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition
Whilst I still love playing multiplayer games especially with friends, I’m really into 3rd person, single-player action games with a good story. And in my opinion PS4 is the best place for that.
Not surprised.
People really expected COD not to be at the top at launch?
@Kienda without a doubt. I have nothing against the xbox but I don't understand the pull to it. The only exclusive that would interest me in the very slightest is Forza. I had an X just after launch and it just sat there collecting dust after the novelty of Forza horizon 3 wore off. In my opinion the xbox and ps4 just don't even compare but as the saying goes, opinions are like ar*e holes, everyone has one 😂
@JJ2 cod made 500 million in 3 days while rdr2 made 725 million in 3 days, so rdr2 is obviously a lot stronger, it just comes down to cod having more days in October and that's it. Nothing special.
@JJ2 it's funny isn't it? I'm not a COD fan myself and the hate it gets before launch is huge but it always sells and always tops charts. I'm glad for any game selling well tho to be fair even if it's something that doesn't personally interest me.
@Kidfunkadelic83
Absulutely RDR2 is a wonderful sp game and people should support that. All the negativity (just before launch ha!) in the press about the game was annoying.
@NecuVise
'it just comes down to cod having more days in October' so your saying its not surprise anyway.
RDR2 has better legs. That's for sure.
@JJ2 it's not surprise and I wasn't talking about that.
Anyway, I've played both and both are great and I'm looking forward to playing odyssey (bought it at launch but my order got lost unfortunately) so this October has been really good. Not to mention Hollow Knight and its brilliance!
@NecuVise
Good for you man! I can't play that many games unfortunately. RDR2 is all I need for a long time though.
@JJ2 well. I'm playing rdr2 exclusively for the time being, and after that I can explore other games or go back to black ops 4
@NecuVise
If only work, family and social life weren't in the way haha
@JJ2 haha exactly
I wouldn't install a Black Ops game on my PS4, even if you dared me hahaha
It's possible that people prefers the retail version of RDR2 instead of digital, saving a lot of internet traffic.
I say it how it is. Europe has such better taste in gaming than US. I mean RDR2, Spider-Man, God of War (the goat), The Last of Us all in the top ten. Plus HZD still in the top 20. Which makes me curious about it‘s latest sale numbers. Hope Sony shares them, at some point.
EDIT: Also The Witcher 3 and Detroit still in top 20. Awesome
pittsburgh Steelers is the g.o.a.t.word up son
@playstation1995 well that was random, and wrong! Skins had a bad week but they will come back strong........
@NecuVise hollow knight is really good
@ellsworth004 pittsburgh Steelers is the best.steeler nation.domination.word up son
@Kienda Agreed so much , though I still need to play Red Dead Redemption 1 + 2, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood - Odyssey, Grand Theft Auto V, God of War, The Last of Us Left Behind, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Detroit: Become Human.
