Ban whoever says to make it longer.
This show was utter trash. Spider-Man didn't win a single award
i didn't even see it because it was on a Stupid O'Clock again and NONE of the PS reveals interested me, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 on the other hand did
I didn't watch the actual show, just kept an eye on Twitter waiting until trailers and announcements were up.
Crash Team Racing
"Read it, boy."
The Messenger winning an award.
God of War winning Game of the Year.
These are the four moments that I cared anything about. The rest of it was such an utter bore.
I like the show, I really thought rdr2 will win the award, and yet, low and behold, god of war actually win
I wish there's more reveal though, where's death stranding new trailer, or sony new games.
Oh, and Hades, the new games from supergiant games is a nice surprise, I want another action adventure games from them (not sort of baseball sport games lol) and that's what I'm getting with hades.
The show is good, a solid show that I hope can be better next year (more games announcement, more new games trailer).
I didn't actually watch The Game Awards 2018.
The Outer Worlds.
I'll leave it up to Geoff to decide.
Ditch half the pointless awards from the main show and stick them in the pre show.
The annoucements get better each year, and as it grows publishers will want their products front and centre.
It’s still in its infancy, if they continue, it could be huge in the next 5 years.
It was just okay. After all that hype, I expected a lot better. Only a few of the reveals excited me.
And no Death Stranding was a serious letdown.
Some changes would be welcomed:
Cut most eSport categories, and separate the category Best eSport Player in two (Male and Female);
Scrap Best Action Game (the category Best Action/Adventure Game is enough);
Separate the category Best Performance in two (Male and Female);
Stop announcing award in the pre-show;
If you don't have time to announce every award, cut some of the musical performances;
And stop using "World Premier" in expansion and DLCs.
@Bliquid Are you being serious?
I'm using the logic of Oscars/Golden Globe/FIFA Football awards and many more, as a way to allow women more exposure.
Melissanthi Mahut as Kassandra deserved a win.
I didn't watch the awards. I was tucked up nice and cosy in bed sleeping. If the time had been better then I would have. Cba watching it today when the internet has the short version for catching up
Overly long, disjointed and quite mediocre over all. Best thing about it was the live chat with the PushSquare community!!
I've been commenting on this all morning in the other articles so I'm kinda burned out.
One thing I haven't' explicitly stated is I felt like all the games looked like games I already knew to me, nothing new. Games either looked like No Man's Sky or Scalebound or Rime or Beyond Good or Evil. There was one colorful one near the end that looked different, but not that much different, kind of like Tearaway or Puppeteer. Not Pyschonauts 2, that looked like Psychonauts 1.
Have game companies run out of game engines?
Did anything look really new, like Concrete Genie or Dreams did when they were first shown? Or even Gravity Rush? Nothing made me think "innovative" or "wow" or "that's new". Zombies, space, open world, and zombies in open world space.
Maybe I'm just getting too old for this.
I can not take them seriously they mean absolutely nothing. Imagine if the Oscars showed trailers for forthcoming movies they would be laughed at. Scrap all the game reveals and have a serious awards ceremony.
How were none of the esport player nom's Fortnite players? The top watched esport
About the announcements, I was a bit surprise for how many games are "play with friends cooperative and gather resources". Is there still space in the market for this kind of games?
I think the show was ok... A little longer than necessary, but ok. Maybe next year we'll have a better show.
I believe that 5 years from now will be a very good show, I'm sure
didn't watch it. in fact this is the first article i've read about the thing!.
@BAMozzy Yeah, I think that what gets me through some of the live-steams. If it wasn't for the live-chat I don't think I'd tune in. The SSB Joker announcement made it worth it, but I did ask myself why I watching it when I could be playing something. I would've done that if the live-chat hadn't been there.
No Knack, no 10/10.
Didn't watch it, none of the game announcements have me excited, could not care less what happens with it next. Maybe if there were not so many teases/leaks before these shows, I would be more pumped for them.
Over all I do feel that this was a great show and watched the whole thing. It did feel overly long but, i didn't notice the time until close to the end. Seeing the big 3 heads of consoles come out side by side seemed awkward and epic at the same time.
@Rick_Deckard
No I found that bit so cringy haha
What were they trying to do anyway?
If only they announced something together that would have been ...err something ?
OT. I watched later so I could skip bits (and I did a lot)
Glad that God of War won GOTY and Monster Hunter World too but to me
Best Role playing game was - DQXI
Best multiplayer - Monster Hunter World
Only real complaint was the length of it. 3 hours is too long imo. A jam packed 2 hours would've worked better however I understand people's acceptance speeches can throw off the timing of an event in a major way. Overall I thought it was a good show. Not earth shattering but solid overall.
Once again the awards were an after thought. They should scrap the reveals altogether.
Surprised we didn't get anything from Death Stranding and the Dreams beta. Cos if the beta was coming this month then you would think they would announce it then.
I thought it was good. I feel like they could ditch some of the awards and make it a little bit shorter, but other than that I think these are about as good as they're possibly ever going to be.
The announcements weren't amazing, but we're at the end of the generation now so it's no real surprise. That's not Keighley's fault.
It was my first time watching the awards. I thought the show was good. The Outer Worlds was probably my favorite reveal. Definitely a game I'll be getting.
@get2sammyb
About the announcements. While true, we are at the end of the generation, Keighley was tweeting that it was the VGA with the most world premiers.
Also, the biggest troll of the evening, bringing the Russo Brothers to deliver an award
Did I see it no ,no time .
@Jaz007 If the live chat hadn't been an option, I would have gone to be and just caught up with the bits of interest in the morning. I do think a Social VR option for events would make it even better. Able to attend events like the Game Awards, E3, sporting events, concerts etc or more cultural things like going to a museum, art gallery, theatre etc with friends who are also there virtually, using the headset to chat in person would be much better than having to type your 'chat'. This is the next best thing though...
TOOO LONG TOOOO GOD DAMN LONG 4 HOURS WTF.
Listened to the stream while I was at work, checking the footage for some of the announcements in case they were good but wasn't really anything I felt I had to stop and watch. The Russo brothers coming on and just giving an award was a let down, especially as The film trailer was released mere hours later anyway.
Totally chuffed for Cory winning Best Direction but highlight of the show was 'Read it boy' and the audience reaction.
So I managed to get home well ahead of the start of the Game Awards (thanks for once, Barbados Transport Board) but in general it was just ok to me. I'll admit I even fell asleep for about 50 minutes, I think, during the main show, so I missed some announcements and awards. I'll have to catch up with that later in between work. I agree with Sammy, we're in the twilight years of this generation, so all those expecting megatons should probably tune in next couple of years when PS5 and NextBox come to market.
I was gonna catch up on it, then realised it was almost 4 hours.
Skipped straight to GOW GOTY acceptance speech.
Thought the reveals were pretty lacklustre.
Too late for me, and I wasn't interested in the awards part of the awards show, so I just caught up on the reveals and announcements this morning. Some decent announcements, but nothing got me super hyped up.
Was too tired to be staying up to watch in the UK, but caught up with who won what this morning in writing (except esports, which don't interest me), and watched all the reveals/trailers eagerly this afternoon. Disappointed that there was nothing on Death Stranding though, but The Outer Worlds reveal went some way to mitigate the disappointment of the former as that was the standout announcement for me....hope we get something substantial from Kojima at some point soon though!
Edit: was happy with many of the other reveals too though btw, as I'm planning on picking up several of those games too! 😀
@Bliquid
The idea is not discriminate, but provide a platform for women in eSport to have visibility. For example, Laureus World Sports Awards have awards for Men, Women and Teams.
The literal only exciting part was Joker in Smash. That's it.
the game awards are one of those cringe inducing events that only perpetuates the view that gamers is just another word Phil Harrison uses too often
@BAMozzy VR attendance with friends would be awesome. Only problem is if you hosted that on something Pushsquare you’d wouldn’t be able to hear the actual show.
I see that happening with VR.

Only liked that one year that todd howard was on and he claimed to be taller than he actually was.
Gets better every year. This time was almost great!
Same thing, but better next year.
@RedDeadSpider It's trash because Spider-Man didn't win an award? Or...
Only watched the pre-show and then I went to watched Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse which was awesome. The best 2018 superhero movie imo.
This year was pretty good. But the real reason I watch is to support Geoff Keighley. He seems really genuine in his passion for games and his fairness for all platforms. I want whatever he does to succeed. So even when I dont enjoy the show I still watch.
That CTR trailer is so good.
