Remember at the start of the generation when the PlayStation Network felt like it was held together with duct tape and prayers? It’s been pretty stable of late, and Christmas Day appears to have come and (almost) gone without a hitch. The service has been a little slow for those attempting to download and install enormous patches, but all in all we haven’t heard about any widespread issues at all.
It’s perhaps worth keeping in mind that someone, somewhere has had to eat their turkey and trimmings while monitoring the situation, so maybe pour one out for them before returning to Red Dead Online. It’s good to see things settled and stable, though – on a selfish level, it means we haven’t had to spend our afternoon monitoring the situation like we did a few years back. Yeah, that was fun. Not.

I put in and patched Spyro, the fact that it (PSN) worked on Christmas was pretty amazing.
Nice job Sony.
All thanks to me. I haven't had time to get on my PS4, meaning that I wasn't absolutely murdering PSN by constantly downloading 100GB games that I'll never actually get around to playing.
Meh. Remote Play broke on my Mac on Xmas Day and nothing had really changed on the LAN or PS4 or Mac itself so I blame PSN. It wouldn't reregister either. When the PS4 fails me - as it often does - I reach for the Switch instead. The online play worked on that and also another chance to look for Power Moons in Odyssey afterwards.
i had a small delay logging in on my PS3 but other than that it was pretty stable
maybe the idiots have finally realised that attacking a thing like PSN at xmas just makes people hate them
either that all they all got PS4's now so they didn't want to ruin their own gaming
Got Spider Man and Spyro for Christmas so that meant I had to download patches that totalled to around 40 to 50 gb.
I'm honestly not that surprised that it downloaded as slow as it did but only for the fact that my internet is slow to begin with.
Got them downloaded anyway, so its not too bad.
'PSN survives Xmas day without completely colapsing..'
I like pushsquare but this is the sort of 'news' that are so cringy here.
@JJ2 I think it's a humorous piece. After all there isn't much else for to write about.
Apart from the major incidents that affected everybody, I can't say I've ever really had an issue with PSN, even going back to the PS3 days. Whenever I've read about 'issues' reported by the infamous 'some people', I've tried and it's been fine.
I think there were probably 2 or 3 times I couldn't sign in for a little while, but that's it. Nothing which has ever been particularly disruptive, at least not at any time when I've wanted to play. And I've never found it particularly slow for downloads either. -shrugs-
Wow really didn't even think about pass outages just logged on with zero problems like any other day. Any hint of a issue would have been a instant reminder of past issues.
