If you’ve been on Twitter or Instagram this past week, you’ll have seen this insufferable ten year challenge meme, where people post side-to-side pictures that are a decade apart. It’s become so popular that there have already been plenty of riffs on it, with veteran voice actor Troy Baker perhaps posting the most interesting of all.
The frustratingly fresh-faced actor posted a picture of Snow from Final Fantasy XIII next to the Man in the Golden Mask from Death Stranding. He added an ellipsis and a question mark to the end of the sentence. The insinuation, if you’re not following, is that Kojima Productions’ upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive opus could release in 2019.
Now this is obviously a possibility. Industry icon Hideo Kojima’s said that he expects it to be out prior to the Olympics, and there’s been various pieces of speculation pointing to a 2019 release date – in fact, only this week was the auteur demoing the title to Guerrilla Games. Obviously game development is difficult and plans can change, but we’d definitely be down for some Death Stranding this year.

I get it's slow news day but knock it off.
I think it could well be coming this year, there's been a lot of noise about it been in the polishing phase since the summer. People like to associate Kojima with long development cycles but that's largely down to MGSV development which his team were building a new engine to accommodate it and that almost takes as long as any AAA game development. He doesn't have that problem with DS due to Guerilla's involvement.
Totally forgot Troy Baker voiced Snow.
@Hapuc You love it
FF13 didn't release worldwide until March 2010.
So yeah, this means nothing.
PS5 Launch title. So whenever that is.
Really getting tired of all this damn teasing, if there isn't an definitive release date i do not want to hear about it..
Just give me AAA Exclusives from Sony.
Death Stranding for the win
@Badboyfx86 you’re on the playstation. You should have loads already!
@Agramonte they need to hold back a tad and wait for Microsoft to reveal all. They seem really confident that their next machine will be more powerful. And it needs to be to run the ray tracing tech on the next Xbox. And Sony can afford to release the ps5 after the Xbox I reckon, but don’t give them a years lead? Oh, 2020 onwards. Might be 8K ready too? (Upscaling?)
@Kiloman74 Yep - RayTracing at FullHD/4K is all I really want. It would need to be better than the RTX2060
Sorry matey I’m lost when it comes to PC’s and graphics cards. What does the RTX2060 do exactly? Or how to compare? Ta.
C'mon, I wanna balance luggage strapped to my back in a dead world already
