Detroit: Become Human developer Quantic Dream had a bit of a mixed year, with its PlayStation 4 exclusive launching to largely critical acclaim but the studio’s culture being called into question. Nevertheless, with over two million units sold worldwide and a reasonable performance in various end of year lists, the French firm was in a celebratory mood this week on its Twitter account.
And among customary thanks and positive words, it promised that it will return “soon with some great news”:
What could it be, though? A new announcement? It feels a bit too soon for a game reveal, but the Parisian company likes to do tech demos before it tackles new projects, so maybe it’s got something like that in line? Or could it have DLC for Detroit in development? The story’s certainly expandable. We’ll have to wait and see.

my guess is they have been bought by microsoft - they seem to trying to buy up every smallish studio going
Detroit DLC and Sony acquisition.
@Scoobijohn Doubtful.
Quantic dream will be a first party studio.word up son
Either an expansion for Detroit, or Detroit Remastered for ps5,lol !
I never considered a buddy cop DLC for Connor and Hank, but now that the possibility has been raised I really want that! Make it a road trip DLC and I will plunk down some money today!
I ended up liking Detroit a lot, and the dynamic between Connor and Hank was one of the best parts of my play through.
Detroit DLC please
@Scoobijohn In what way is that good news?
haha xD
As long as it doesn't contain the words Quantic, By, Aquired, Dream, Microsoft
Whatever QD do, I'm there! I'm a huge fan and would follow them anywhere.
That is unless they release their games on XB or on a Ninty console exclusively.
Then they're dead to me
@RawnDawn they didn't say it was good news for ps4 owners
I really enjoyed Detroit. It’s gotta be in my top 3 this year, but I haven’t even explored all the numerous branching paths of the base game, so I don’t think I really need DLC if I wanted to go back into that world. How about an announcement of a new project instead.
VR patch! VR patch! VR patch!
Sony buys them 😁
I bet it's about Microsoft buying them.
Yea I'm not fond of these type of pre announcement hype either. It's rarely what you expect and great news maybe from their point of view but not from yours.
Being optimistic I'd think of something related to dlc or PS5 reveal. Please don't do a Ms 'greatnews' troll for your fans.
Edit.
I'm thinking, possibly a PC version of Detroit?
Agreed that of all the great storytelling in Detroit: Become Human it was Connor's pathway with Hank that really made the most impact. Hank encourages Connor to think beyond his programming and get invested emotionally in the cases while Connor helps Hank find the passion in his police work again after years of drunken neglect. It's a very well drawn piece of fiction. So if there was a spinoff with those two working more cases using the same two actors and same game engine I'd love that. Even if it was episodic and not as big and action packed as Markus' tale was.
Either way, Detroit is QD's best work and I've been playing their titles since Fahrenheit. All have their merits but Detroit really is their latest and greatest.
The Connor - Hank dynamic was the most interesting one in the game, I agree. However, I also liked Markus' story in the game, and the continuation of his path could also work well in a DLC. Kara's story was good but I'm not sure how a DLC would look with her's in focus.
Of-course they could make a DLC which focuses on a fourth person, maybe just Hank, or one (or more) of the other characters we met in the game.
In any case, the game certainly caters to a DLC or expansion of sorts. Detroit was one of my favourite games from last year, and is on my Top 10 list of Adventure games. I do hope to see more of its gameworld.
If I was them I'd start making puzzle, scrabble or Tetris!
Hopefully it's that Sony purchased the studio.
Sony stop psplus for ps3 & psvita on march, there's persona 5r announcement on march, and QD tease great news soon (possibly march), it's undeniable proof that's ps5 will be announced on march 2019 and QD will be ready making 4k & 60 fps upgrade for detroit
@Scoobijohn They say great news, not horrible news (remember bungie, lionhead, rare, shudder).
Hank was my favourite character, even though he wasn't playable, but I don't think it will be DLC for Detroit (even though I'd be excited if it was that). I'm hoping that it's an announcement that Sony's bought Quantic Dream and that they're starting work on a new project.
@get2sammyb We’ll find out soon https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.gamereactor.eu/amp/news/715393/Rumour%2bMicrosoft%2bin%2btalks%2bto%2bbuy%2bSony%2bfriendly%2bdeveloper/
@Badboyfx86 From software is MId Sized Studio HAHAHAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHH.
Would they really do that to Sony? They know that Xbone players don't care about these kinds of games right?
I'd like a new branch of the same story where we play as Sumo. I just want to lick Connor's face.
@Bonbonetti
There's s lot to say about Kamski.
@Hapuc I know right
just don't see quantic dream as a good fit for xbox personally. i could see if sony had some reservations about the "studio culture" that it might try to acquire the studio so it could run things a bit differently. david cage has always said they enjoy the close working relationship with sony, but enough to give up its independence?
if i were to guess, it might be a VR patch for detroit (after all, they patched heavy rain to make use of the playstation move when it released). seems a bit soon after detroit to be announcing a new game, regardless of which platforms its on.
Probably announcing 1St party status.
Booo i actually love to see a spin off about heavy rains shelby the detective. Or heck some sort of sequel or prequel!
Detroit characters are coming to Smash confirmed.
