Jiren Confirmed for Dragon Ball FighterZ Via Leaked Magazine Scan

Unsure who the original source is for this (I trawled Twitter but couldn't find any definite answer) so if anyone can help, it'd be appreciated.

It could be the upcoming Weekly Shonen Jump magazine for the source... maybe, just a guess.

@shonenjump86 That's exactly it. It will also have at least one picture concerning this new Action-RPG DBZ game they've been working on, showing Goku a few minutes before Raditz arriving, I think.

if they are adding Jiren then they should also add Kefla too

@SuperSilverback multiple versions of the same character don't count though yes there are more than one version of Goku but it's still the same character and besides DB games have done that for years, even XenoVerse has multiple versions of Goku and Vegeta plus Gohan, Trunks and Gotenks are half human so they don't really count

there are only 4 unique full Saiyan characters, Goku, Vegeta, Broly and Bardock so i don't see an issue with them adding more

@FullbringIchigo What the heck do you mean 'they don't count'? They take up a character slot, they are another character. In fact, it's even worse when a new character not only is a Saiyan, but he's already in the roster in another incarnation to boot.

The worst part is that I suspect at least 4-5 saiyans in this DLC too. (SSB Gogeta, UI Goku, Kefla, Raditz, Broly [Super])

@Nickolaidas and so what if they are it's Dragon Ball, complaining about a Dragon Ball game having Saiyan characters in it is like complaining that a racing game has cars, whether you like it or not Dragon Ball revolves around the Saiyans and has done for years

@FullbringIchigo old (PS2) games let you transform mid battle into forms that take up a character slot in this game. Hell Mortal Kombat X let each character have 3 playstyles that you could pick before the fight so why couldnt Fighterz. And i know they did it in other DB games, also annoyed me then. Im just saying with the huge archive of characters DB has, why pick ANOTHER saiyan. Ill get it regardless, but still 😂😂

@SuperSilverback yeah i get that BUT in a game like this they will just be focusing on the popular characters and of course the new ones because they are extremely marketable

as for Transformations i have no idea why they don't have them as they are a staple of the series and it's not like they couldn't do it because Frieza has one in the game unless it's something to do with the character movesets

@FullbringIchigo I think it hurts the roster. The same way that an MK game would hurt the roster if it had 22 characters and 15 of them were ninjas. Yes, I love MK ninjas and I understand that they're insanely popular, but diversity is key in fighting games. Vegeta and Goku fanboys got their juice - six freakin GokuVegetas. Let a, say, Zarbon fan get his due is all I'm asking.

not to mention with the game being online focused their is balance to take into account to

although who really wants Zarbon anyway, now the rest of the Ginyu Force i would LOVE to be added and a few more movie baddies like Lord Slug or Janemba

@FullbringIchigo But does it help the marketing when you add yet another Goku in the roster? If you check the YouTube videos of their reveal, the comments are mostly negative. "Oh, great another Goku", "Did we really need another Goku?" and the like.

@Nickolaidas no we didn't need another Goku (or Vegeta even though Base Goku is pretty good to play as) but that doesn't mean we can't have other Saiyans like Kefla, Cabba or Raditz

@FullbringIchigo Actually, I'd rather they put Caulifla and Kale as separate characters in order to increase the number of females and have Kefla on a sequel / 3rd DLC season.

I'm okay with Cabba, Raditz … eh, maybe in order to have a full 3-team of Raditz, Nappa and Vegeta - the original evil Saiyan trio.

I just don't want to see more Gokus and Vegetas. Although UI Goku and Kid Goku are sure to come.

What will surely piss me off, however, will be a 2nd Broly from the movie.

and i would like to see at least ONE more Goku and Vegeta added, Super Saiyan 4 Goku and Vegeta

and yes i'm sure UI Goku is coming, probably along with Jiren but i don't think Kid Goku would unless it was Little Goku from GT

speaking of GT i wouldn't mind GT Goten, GT Trunks, Pan and Uub

Broly as a skin, or patched current Broly is fine by me.

No SSJ4 Goku and Vegeta (not because GT, but because we have enough of those two)

UI Goku I'm mixed. He will be unlike any other Goku so this may be the only adult Goku I'm okay with being added.

Kid Goku if done with nimbus and power pole would be different enough in design and gameplay to warrant an appearance.

No GT Goten - completely useless.
No GT Trunks - he's basically Future Trunks with worse clothing.
Pan - sure, both a new female and GT representation is ok.
Uub - sure, GT representation is ok.

@Nickolaidas i still think SS4 would be awesome and would look amazing in that game engine but if not Goku and Vegeta then perhaps Gogeta

@FullbringIchigo God, no. If they didn't want Tao Pai Pai because they thought he was too weak, then Hercule/Satan shouldn't make the cut.

I want either Caulifla, Kale, Pan, Videl, Chi-Chi or heck I would take Bulma in a mech suit. Right now is a giant sausage fest as far as the eye can see.

@Juanalf what do you expect it's Dragon Ball and Toryama has said many times that when doing DB all those years ago he just wasn't very good at drawing female characters fighting so he tended to make the fighters male for ease (he even said that reason Pan never went Super Saiyan back then is that he couldn't figure out how to do it without making her look like a boy)

of course this was because of his art style which has changed since DB was first made and he is much better at it now (take Towa originally from DBOnline and later DBXV or the afore mentioned Kale and Caulifla) but the series was already done at that point

I hope they add Muten Roshi and the Universe 6 Saiyans
