No, these aren’t photographs from the PlayStation 4’s launch – they’re from this week in South Korea, where a price cut has seen local gamers lining up to get their hands on Sony’s cut-price goods. The platform holder’s discounted its entire line of hardware in the country, so a PS4 Pro can now be purchased for 348,000 South Korean Won ($311), as opposed to 498,000 KRW ($444). Meanwhile, the PS4 Slim can be bought 248,000 KRW ($221) as opposed to 378,000 KRW ($337), and PlayStation VR is down to 298,000 KRW ($266) from 448,000 KRW ($400).
Big savings, and it’s brought the public out in droves. Kotaku reports, via Afternoon News, that there have been sell-outs – particularly of the PS4 Pro, which is in high demand. There are more pictures through the link, but the general theme is that these are the kind of photographs you’d associate with a new console launch – and not necessarily a price promotion. Then again, these are impressive savings across the board.

I understand the rush to buy and sell outs with a drop over $100 on the Pro, the Slim, and PSVR. This is the lowest price I have seen on hardware i believe. Good for them!
Sony has their eyes on the 100 million mark.
If I squint my eyes I think I can see a 2019 release date on the Death Stranding poster...juuuuust kidding. But it's odd to showcase a game like that if it's not releasing in the nearish future.
ps4 100 million plus confirmed .word up son
even at this point in the ps4 life cycle one price cut will bring out people in droves
Well it'll make a change from all the Koreans just playing Blizzard games on their PCs.
Look at those lovely Slimes awaiting a new home.
Best Korea does it again.
This proves there is still a big desire for PS4s, but because they are popular Sony is reluctant to reduce prices.
This Christmas my sons friends all (as in five of them) went for XBox One’s because of the price alone.
It is this time in the life cycle when a lot of younger gamers join the current generation because their parents see the prices as more reasonable. I feel like Sony should capitalise on that more personally.
@Kienda Yeah I think there's a whole new audience for Sony to tap into when they do finally drop the price again globally, which has to happen at some point.
Good to hear there's demand for console gaming in Korea. I thought 99% of gaming there was MOBA's on PC.
