StarBlood Arena, the online only PlayStation VR title from developer WhiteMoon Dreams, will no longer be playable once its online functionality is terminated on 25th July 2019.
The game's product page confirmed the shut down: "Multiplayer and all online features for this product will be terminated and will no longer be available on 07/25/19. As you have to be online to play this title, this game will not be playable starting 07/25/19."
PSVR games that can only be played online is an issue that we've raised before with titles like Megalith and Firewall Zero Hour, and it looks like StarBlood Arena is feeling the full force of a lack of any player base. The game was even handed out as a PlayStation Plus extra in December of 2017, but that doesn't seem to have resulted in larger player counts.
We can't say we'll miss it, but were you hoping to check out StarBlood Arena? Try to fit it in before July in the comments below.

Such a shame. I guess I should download it and play it before it's too late.
This is a solid VR game. Too bad it received zero marketing and originally launched when the PSVR base was much smaller.
This one gave me motion sickness first time i played, so if I'm honest, i never went back. Shame for those that enjoyed it though and like you say, it raises concerns about other online only titles
"Why It's Still Advisable to Have Offline And/Or Single Player Modes in Games", page 58.
What eventually awaits on page 59, I wonder?🙄
It was okay but online focused VR games are a mistake. I can’t believe developers don’t see it.
I had high Hopes for this game but man was i glad i didn't buy it. Tryed it a few times after we got it for free. I really did not like it...
I guess I’ll give this a go before it’s gone forever. I’ve had it downloaded since it came to ps plus just haven’t got round to trying it
Won't be long till Megalith will also suffer the same fate.
I tried it out a couple weeks ago and found matches no problem. This isn’t dead, and it’s absolutely disgraceful that it’s being shutdown after such a short time. This is just robbery from those who bought it.
Does this not even have a bots mode so that it's not completely unusable?
@get2sammyb Yeah this is the reason I haven't picked up Firewall.
@Dange but firewall is busy all the time and apart from network problems you'll always have a game as the community is pretty big and really friendly as well.Guessing as firewall released when there were 3million headsets already sold compared to starblood being a launch'ish game Starblood never really had a chance.Theres also the fact that firewall is brilliant and Starblood is meh at best!
@ROTTIEMAN I hope the servers stay busy but who's to say they won't dry up in 10-12 months. I'm very interested in the game but the lack of single player content is definitely a put off.
If I buy a game I want to be able to play it 5 years from now if I choose. This is why I think online games should all come with an offline bots mode. Just in case the servers get shut down. I haven't checked though, does Firewall have this?
And nothing of value was lost
