Assassin's Creed III Remastered finally has a release date. The remaster was announced not too long after Assassin's Creed Odyssey was revealed, with Ubisoft confirming that it would be available as part of Odyssey's season pass. That's still the case, but you'll also be able to buy it separately.
You can relive the American Revolution from the 29th March, the publisher has revealed. Assassin's Creed III was something of a divisive game when it first launched all the way back in 2012, but judging by the trailer that we've embedded above, the remaster is at least looking pretty. If you've been hankering for some traditional Assassin's Creed gameplay, then maybe it'll scratch the itch.

literally the game nobody asked for
Would love to have a physical edition. Not that I'd ever play it because I absolutely hated this game when it originally released. But I've got every physical AC game released on PS4, so it'd look good in the collection.
Never played it, never want to. It'll be hard going back to the old style Assassin's Creed games after the excellent RPG style of Odyssey.
@ApostateMage I tried going back to the older games after playing Origins, just to see how they hold up, and it's the combat that kills it for me. It seems far too streamlined and boring compared to the proper hitbox-based combat that was introduced in Origins.
Very. very difficult to go back, at least for me.
@ShogunRok Yeah, I feel the combat of the older games didn't age very well, especially in comparison to the recent games.
All a person really had to do most of the time was either block/counter or shoot/throw knives to win.
@Deadlyblack Yeah basically just one-button kills. I get that there was more of a focus on stealth gameplay but even as far back as the original Ass Creed you could take out loads of enemies without getting touched thanks to the counters.
@JoeBlogs Yeah I don't think it was that great was it? I honestly don't remember much about ACIII, and I guess that's not a great thing either.
While AC3 wasn't one of my favourites and did have some really frustrating bits, I still had fun with it when it released, so will likely replay this along with AC: Liberation at some point in the future, as they're included in my season pass anyway...current gen versions of Black Flag and Rogue definitely much higher up my replaying list though! I guess I'm a little bit of an AC fangirl as I've played to completion almost every game for nearly a decade now I think about it! Agree AC3 will be hard to go back to though.
AC3 on PS3 was absolutely awful the frame rate caused so much problems for input lag it was a joke. Connor would always do the opposite from what i wanted him to do AC3 will be one of the games I've played I will never touch again. I bought the special edition and got a t shirt and medal with it the game was boring as hell, Black Flag improved so much this game isn't worth it
After Origins this is my favorite AC. I will probably rent this one though and see if it still holds up.
@Frigate Most people like to dump on AC3 (see comments above) but I quite liked it. I remember it playing similar enough to the Ezio games, which are where AC cut it’s teeth and really cemented the series. In place of Renaissance Italy you have Colonial America, but the gameplay is more or less similar. It was the first to introduce the ships and ship battles. I really enjoyed the small touch of nautical gameplay in AC3, but I thought AC4BF just took it too far and I grew to dislike all the ship warfare. I know I’m in the minority who liked AC3 a lot more than AC4BF. Maybe because I’m American and I really enjoyed the American History aspects.
So just to confirm people like me who pre order odyssey and got this and liberation free guessing we just get it them free on that date instead of paying
Was thinking they would give it early if you pre ordered
@Katep That's correct, you'll get the digital copies for free on the release date.
