We've been waiting to write that headline for what feels like an age, and the time has finally come. After years of waiting, Borderlands 3 has been revealed, and you can see it in action via the announcement trailer that we've embedded above. And yes, there is gameplay footage.
The bottom line is that this looks exactly as you'd expect it to. Four playable vault hunters, a bunch of returning characters, and "billions" of guns. Initial impressions are pretty positive, then.
We don't have a release date or window yet, but Gearbox says to expect more information very soon, on the 3rd April.

Stream was a disaster overall lol, but man I'm so hyped for BL3! Trailer is fantastic!
Will Scooter be in it?
Just let me play it by myself without needing my rubbish internet connection on at all times and you've got my money right away Gearbox 😅
There ain’t no rest for the wicked.
I don’t pre-order First Person Shooters, but when I do, it’s Borderlands 3.
HYPEEE!!
That stream shows why State of Play is ideal for most announcements. Be interesting to see how it turns out but I don't think just been an updated Borderlands 2 is enough anymore. When I last played it, it felt outdated to me. Might get 2 VR when the DLC comes out though.
@Boldfoxrd no. If you played tales of the borderlands you would know why?
And before anyone says tales isn’t canon. Both vaughn and ryse from tales are confirmed to play a role in borderlands 3.
That gun on legs was...cute?
Really looking forward to this.
Looks good. That reveal presentation was atrocious though.
@darkswabber First Roland then Scooter whos Do you think they are going to kill off next?
Trailer looked awesome! Cannot wait for this! Now just need the damn preorder for this and the first remastered one on the store to give my cash over
Playable Tiny Tina! Yes!
Tiny Tina for the win
@Areus lillith I guess, in the trailer the sister villian (the siren one) steals lilliths siren powers and gives it to her brother (which apperantly already was confirmed) so I guess she’ll die in the game.
I have always played Borderlands games Single Player hope that is still possible looks fun
looks awful — as if telltale worked on the visuals. i know its an art style, but it looks too flat and rot at this point. at one time it was unique and inspired, now 10 years later it comes across as ugly and generic. gearbox is on the verge of crumbling and this will be the final straw.
Looks like more of the same...I’m still kinda Borderlands’ed out from the last three! Unless they’ve added some truly new gameplay features, I’m probably gonna wait for a sale.
RHYS! So happy right now
n.i.c.e. can wait. borderlands is always fun.word up son
Finally! At least we'll have Borderlands 1 to kill time.
Hoping to get a invite to Claptrap’s party to celebrate.
Cool Trailer.Doesant really look any different to the other two games though but that's no bad thing as I'm a huge fan of the visuals and I'll still be picking this up at launch.
Woot!... Finally! this is great news.
Great start to the stream as the first thing Randy Pitchford informs us with is that BL3 is not a battle royal game and that the solo or up to 4 player online remains. Next we are informed that Tiny Tina is one of the playable characters. Awesome!
The trailer confirms that the art style remains as well as a return of some past characters.
All great news for Borderlands fans.
They really know how to create a trailer.
That was incredible. I only played Borderlands 2 and loved it.
Damn, it's even got a Asura Wrath's female character!
Will this game be released this year?
Day one depending of the gameplay of the new characters
Played tales free with ps plus and rated the art style and humour. This looks really good, maybe a shooter/looter I can get on board with
Is this offline or online only like all these looter shooters/Games as a Dis-Service? Can I play SP offline and still have fun?
