PS Plus April 2019 PS4 Games Announced

Oh dear. Not exactly Modern Warfare Remastered and The Witness is it?

Well they are AAA games isn't that what people want ?

Not too bad. They're both games I wanted to play but didn't want to buy.

PLEASE tell me this is an April fools!!!

It would be better if they just stopped the games altogether and just reduced the price

Neither games that I would've paid for but would happily try out.

That's very much what Plus is for for me.

Ah well going to skip both of those but hope some end up enjoying them!

This actually is one of the more interesting months for me. Not worth a purchase, but maybe a few hours of my time.

No reason to resubscribe this month! That free Fortnite skin my boy wants is going to have to wait another month! Sorry son!

tbh the surge is not the worst game to give away.

Good news for me as my subscription expired in Feb and I still haven't been motivated to re-subscribe even with the deals I've seen lately. I've barely heard of these.

Anybody remember getting NEW games w/ PS+? Not AAA, but games like we saw in the State of Play on Monday.

After removing PSVita and PS3 games at least give us one PS2 classic per month.

The Surge is excellent, one of my favourite games this gen. The environments are a bit samey but the combat is fantastic as are the few bosses that are in there. A massive improvement over Lords of the Fallen.

guess this is why the didnt announce it in the state of play as would of brought more hate. Neither of them interest me but I suppose these kinda games would be good for plus smaller AA games that you probably overlook. With the state of play focusing a lot on PSVR it would of been nice to throw and PSVR game in each month or every other month.

And I thought last month's games were meh. These are MEH! 🙃

All those gamers who welcomed removing the ps3 and vita games because they thought they would get better PS4 titles lol

The surge is actually a game i wanted and first that i look forward to dl in almost a year. Mw remaster is trash and i had it on my hdd for 1 day so this month is better

I'll go fire up my PS4 and add The Witness to my library. Neither of April's offerings appeal to me.

I have been wanting to try The Surge and almost bought it a few times, so this month works for me!

Ok, the games are meh, which is frankly better than great games that everybody have already...

But the bad part is that they are both heavily discounted since the beginning of the big March sales :
The Surge : £34.99 --> £9.49 (72% off)
Conan Exiles : £44.99 --> £17.74 (60% off)

I mean, Sony should, at least, try to be careful about that...

All these people jumping up and down demanding triple aaaaaa. Got what they asked for.

No interest in the surge but I'll give Conan a go. I hope the MP servers are busy

@AdamNovice yeah the og Xbox game was the only standout title for me as well. At least that game is awesome.

I might try Conan Exiles out just to see if you can chin a camel.

Well I don't have either which is a bonus but really wouldn't have picked either on a list of games I wanted to play.

Had a look at a gameplay video and Conan's graphics are terrible! I re-read Push Squares review which made it sounds brilliant and then dumped on it with a 6 rating!

Ive wanted to try both and didnt wanna spend money. Im OK with this. I keep my expectations in check for the freebies

Wanted to try Conan which is good but the value for this service has crashed.

I've been curious about Conan after it's surprising sales success in Japan. Also wouldn't mind trying The Surge, although Soulsy-games aren't my cup of tea, so I doubt I'll play it to completion.

@AdamNovice You're right, there's no need to be negative from my part... I was just thinking about the people who just bought both games because of sales thinking it would be on PS+...

In fact I'm happy enough with both games, they were two of the many games I wanted to play, but not wanted to buy!

Nevertheless, I'm still very sore about the lack of PS3 and Vita games... I'm still actively playing both of them and the games were often nice surprises (more the Vita ones than the PS3 for the last year or so...), and a lot of them were cross-buy, making the number of PS4 games each month more than 2. On this count we've been had, so I think I should have the right to expect something more than what we're getting for the last 2 months...

@AdamNovice But surely sites like this are good to bring up debate. Just because you thought State of Play was great doesn't mean other people did. I am a big Sony fan have been since the PS1 but I thought State of Play was poor and I have PSVR so am I wrong and shouldn't post on this site because that's not your view? I am glad your happy with everything Sony are doing but to me these niggling issues are adding up. Sony had a great year last year but do think they are taking there eye of the ball with PS4 which probably is understandable with the PS5 just round the corner.

this site needs to chill on the forced negative I noticed it on the video about the PlayStation direct as well. not played ether & I was close to buying Conan Exiles so nice to get a couple of games I've never played.

I'm not playing the surge, maybe I'll try conan exiles. Not a good month I think.

@Olmaz so we get £27.23 worth of games. That's not so bad.

The problem with having a paltry 2 games is the moaning is going to happen loads. It could be anyone of us next month.

On a side note I like this selection as there's no way I would buy them with my own money for £27.23. So PS plus has worked out for me this month.

I've got a backlog as long as my arms and my legs, basically my entire body hahaha

I own both of these games. I loved the surge, if u like souls likes you will probably like it. Conan is pretty terrible im sorry to say.

Some pretty good games for me. Already have Conan on PC, but never got around playing it. Maybe I'll give it a fair shot on PS4.

I renewed my Plus for $40 and got Modern Warfare Remastered and The Witness, a game that I've been waiting to go on sale for years now.

I'm happy.

State of play was a great start. I can't wait to see more of that regularly. We are far from the time SLayden was boring us on stage. Great format. Loved it

You would think after removing all the free PS3 & Vita games we were getting without a discount or a 3rd PS4 game they could at least try harder than two mediocre games (based on their Metacritic). I would support them just going the Nintendo route and offer $20 a year with no games.

To those saying not to complain, really? So in your perfect world no person would be allowed to complain about any company ever? There's a difference between being a Playstation fan (like most of us) and showing support for it's great library while criticising when needed then just being a mouth foaming fanboy.

@Flaming_Kaiser haha, snap - im am working through H:ZD as we speak, and will be working towards the platinum. Finally got all the blazing suns at the hunting grounds. Phew!!

My personal take is that the free PS Plus games are a great way to play these kind of mid-tier games that you might not otherwise try.

I have a huge backlog of top quality games on my PS4, as I suspect so do many others. So it's actually quite novel for me to be able to play The Surge for example, which never reviewed well enough for me to buy, but which I had been curious about.

My point is, there's value in free stuff that's not the top tier.

I mean cummon, it's not like we're getting Life Of Black Tiger or anything, these are ok games.

meh, don't care, i will pass, like i have done for the last 39 months. the last game i downloaded from PS+ was grim fandango remastered in january 2016. the uptake of PS+ games must be relatively low in my opinion, regardless of how good they are.
i'd rather they offered varying tiers of PS+. i don't see how the current model is attractive going forward on PS5. if (and my opinion is that it's still a big if) PS5 has backwards compatibility it might alleviate the problem somewhat as some 'better' PS4 games might become available at that point.

Man I miss the Indy games on PS Plus. Almost every month there was a good one but now with the AAA - I don't know

@Sanctanox there is a lot of indie games that we are gonna miss out on, it gave the devs free exposure and benefited them, now not so much.

I haven't played Conan Exiles but I admit it's one I have been interested in and I'm pretty sure I played a demo or beta of the Surge?Either way it wasn't too bad apart from the fact I found it too hard.I'm quite happy with this selection.But as I have too many games anyway I doubt I'll get round to them anytime soon.

My subscription ends of July won't be renewing as I've been playing more single player games than before I'd rather save my £50 really has been rubbish last few months

Really enjoyed The Surge, once you get over all the things the SoulsBorne games do better you will appreciate the things it does well in.

Conan I've hade my eye on for awhile but would never paid any money for it, so will defo download it.

I was kind of curious about The Surge, but it's bad timing for me. I'm playing Nioh and I'll be getting Sekiro at some point. Another Souls-like would probably tip me over the edge.

@ShogunRok I'm probably in the minority but I was underwhelmed by MW remastered (played the original to death and not interested in MP), and I just didn't like The Witness.

I've wanted the Surge for a while so I'll give that a go. Good month for me!

I will add these two to my library but not download them. Then if I ever find myself with a large amount of free time and no money I’ll have something to play.

@AdamNovice I get your point but could be argued the other extreme of Sony can do no wrong which some people posts come across including some of yours is not level headed.

You write off a lot of issues as non issues but they are issues for a lot of people even if they are not for you. As I have said these are slowly adding up.

I agree the presentation style was very good but surely you have to admit its a little disappointing that after not hearing much from Sony for 9 months or so they didnt announce mid to large new game something akin to a puppeteer or Medievil also no news what so ever on Dreams. Dreams could be one of the biggest game changers but I feel Sony are doing it a massive disservice so far.

I'm happy; I've been very tempted by Conan and his infamous dangling genitalia for ages, so am glad I didn't buy it (it was almost getting cheap enough).

No Adam is spot on. Look above the guy calling him out for 'inhaling' whatever. That's toxic. Expressing positivity is Not toxic.
On the state of play. The people expecting a sort of mini E3 have only themselves to blame for disappointment. That s going to be a regular update, maybe every two months. Not reason to talk on and on about TLOU II or the like now. State of play was great.

The surge looks like it could kill a few hours, though I seem to recall that the main complaint about it was the massive difficulty spike just as it gets good

I’m happy. I was honestly intrigued by Conan Exiles back when it released, but never got around to purchasing it. I’m glad I’ll get to give it a shot next month. It sounds like it can be pretty rewarding, once you push past the learning curve.

I already miss those PS Vita and PS3 days.

Its up to Sony to take feedback into account. Both good and bad feedback. Thinking State of play is great is a thinking Sony can do no wrong? Being happy about these games on ps+ is thinking Sony can do no wrong?
Thats the power of the media for you. Pushsquare article said the games aren't great, therefore gamers saying their happy are thinking Sony can do no wrong?

@JJ2 I didn’t think it was that convoluted but basically people that defend every Sony action and dismiss any differing point of view. You are correct good and bad feedback are needed but dismissing everyone’s bad feedback that they are toxic or trolls is just burying your head in the sand in my opinion. I have made some feedback last few days not seems you once agree with anything negative you just seem to dismiss everyone’s problems. Even if you do disagree with everything I say I don’t think I deserve to be called toxic

Why would I not dismiss people 'problem' I dont consider problem myself? That's some weird logic. I made clear in the past I think Spiderman dlc was wrong and I was in the minority. I'm not afraid of unpopular opinions or saying something bad about Sony

The Surge has been on my to play list since i played the demo when it was released. I have been waiting for a low sale price. Now it is a Plus game that i will download as soon as i can.

Nothing for me this month. Finished the surge already. Must admit that I enjoyed the surge more than dark souls 3. Conan exiles, looks way too grindy and time consuming for me so that's a clear pass.
Come on Sony, if you really want to push psvr, add a game at least every 2nd month.

I don't recall either flickering much on my radar (even after reading an article on Conan Exiles elsewhere), but a soulsborne-inspired sci-fi RPG and an open world survival make a good landing in the "hey, might as well try sometime" category. If I get around to it. I won't deny it's a bit embarrassing to recall that I was too lazy to download Modern Warfare last time I dropped by... although the subconscious preemptive fear of discovering yet another touchpad shooter might have something to do with that kind of apathetic behaviour , too.😅

When a game is considered a failure at 73 per cent metacritic with 25 positive reviews I understand why most of us do not enjoy life anymore. I m not interested in conan I loved the ps3 conan not this one. I own the surge it is a good game. So therefore if you are a good gamer don't look at the critics. Play the damn thing and enjoy. If you don't well just go on to the next big thing.

Hmmm. I'm curious on both so better than last month by far but still seems a let down.

Will the ps5 be backwards compatible and how far back are we going. please go to at lest the ps3 if it can do ps2 that's awesome. Some people still have their ps2 games they whish to play.

Hi, this is my first post on PS, though I've been a reader for a while (great site guys). I bought Conan Exiles a few weeks ago, when it we as on offer, so disappointed I didn't wait 😖. However, it's worth saying (given the negative views here) that I am really enjoying it, so don't write it off until you've tried it.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the game though.Unlike a lot of people on here I was kind of interested when it first released but must of forgot about it and bought something else.Just watched the trailer for it again tonight and I'm quite excited for it.It may even get moved up my backlog to the front.

Having much experience with Fromsoft titles, I fear that the overall quality of The Surge is going to be too much of a dropoff for me to appreciate, but I will still check it out on my alternate account.

Conan was actually a game that has piqued my interest ever since I heard of it, so I’m happy to add it to the backlog.

Well this is a bit crap. We need more games again. This is such a bad month. Last month had some good games, but needed more than two. This month is a travesty with only two games. Sony up your dang game already. Plus is dropping the ball bad.

We are getting 66% less games and being charged about $10 more and some of you see no issue with this? but..but..but no one plays ps3 and Vita games anymore?! Well I do like many others so as of now PS Plus has turned into a giant rip off.

They should try and add another option like $20 for just going online, I promise that will be the most popular option as some of us don't want to waste precious space on mediocre sub garbage.

I let my membership lapse and so far, haven't had a reason to reup.

The Surge is great, Pitty i have it already, and Conan i have been wanting to try. Not a bad month at all.

Never heard of them One thing I am glad about me is I don't game online so I don't have to buy PS PLUS every year + People moaning about PS PLUS should blame Microsoft for starting all this pay extra to play online to :-/

The Surge is a really Nice gime if u like Soul-lite games and Conan is a REALLY is plat, if there is any hunters out there. (u can do em all as the game master)

@Carl-G You buy the game but then you play in Sony's or other company servers. Who's paying for that?
With the Playstation 3, it was free, but even then they where saying that with the growing number of people playing online, it would be difficult to mantain the servers quality without starting to demand money to do it.

The Surge is really a very fun game. It's probably my favorite souls-like game (still haven't gotten around to Nioh though).

Still a little sad we only got 2 games and still no VR title. Sony had to see this negative feedback coming, right?

@Rob_230 I love the gameplay is was in the starting part for over 20 hours. Almost quit on the middle but thats because i was to stupid to advance the story. And focus on all the busy work. 😆

Im glad i went ahead and finished it do pick up the collectables the paint in the story its so cool. 🤓

Between these two and path of exile just dropped for free, worth a dabble. Probably download all that content and then delete after a few hours.

I already had both of last month's games so it's better in that regard.
Still think we should be getting an additional indie game or two on top of these, only two games when we were getting like 5 before stings...
